how reliable are infiniti/nissan cars

hey im wondering how reliable are infiniti/ nissan cars? do they have a lot of maintance or are they like a honda/toyota?

Depends on the car and the previous owner(s).

Just do your homework b4 you buy.

You read my mind..I think that nissan can and are just as reliable as toyota and honda. All depends on how the vehicle was treated with its previous owner/OWNER'S........I would look for a low milage one that your pocket can afford. Good Luck!

Just make sure you do the required maintenance. Some low mileage cars are in pretty bad shape. The last car I had had 60K miles on it, and I had tonns of problems with it. This one has 110K and I only had to change the spark plugs and one o2 sensor. Oh and I will be changing my tranny fluid and filter this weekend. 

Cars with V8s tend to last a lot longer because they are running at lets say 50% of their potential power output, while an I4 will be tuned to its max potential and thus have a life span of only 120K miles for example. 

Just have the car checked out by mechanic that you can trust and do all the maintenace on it and you'll be fine.

OH and fom recent exprience...don't get a car that was previously wrecked...I've learned my lesson :(

I've had my 2000 A33 maxima since new and i'd say i just do my regular maintenance(change spark plugs, oil(synthetic), coolant, gear fluid...). I'm now at 115k miles and the car runs like a charm. I do push my car once a while, but i believe as long as it's well maintained then they are great cars. Forgot to mention that I've had exhaust and intake and that also didnt seem to affect it's reliability.

Never heard of any problems with the older V8s (VH or VK?), and the sr20 and ga16 are really good engines.  Also the vq30 in both de and de-k trims are reliable (think maxima and I30).  The newer ones such as the vq35de and qr25de (sentra se-r and 4 banger altima) are supposedly oil burners because of seal and gasket problems.

I am not sure what you mean by that statement 100%. BUT...if you are talking about rebuilt title, then I would stay away from the car alltogether. I made a mistake of buying my Y33 with rebult title and recently I got offered $4K for the car. Also the damage was much worse than what I expected. But if you still want to buy one with rebuilt/salvaged title, then I would get one that was stolen and maybe the interior was ripped out or something.

Overall you should look at how well the car was maintained. Does it have a bunch of door dings. Check the oil and air filter to see if they're dirty. Another little trick...see if the spare tire, jack, OEM tools and the owners manual are still in the car. If they're not, then the person didn't maintain the car all that well.

Also, ask for maintenance records.

That's just the QR's, and its because of the pre-cat, not seals and gaskets. (Trust me, I have one)

It really depends on how you treat your car and what you put it through.

Honestly, Toyota is the most reliable, then comes Honda, then comes old Nissan.
