stereo issue (Y33)
I had a head unit (a JVC KW-AV60BT) installed in my car a while back, and when my car ran, on start up is would act like it was dying and I would have to give it revs until the main menu came up. I replaced the shitty walmart battery and it still did it when i started the car up the other day. Is the head unit drawing to much power? Do I have a bad alternator? Or is the install to blame? The car is a 97 Q45.

check your ground if it's solid. if it's a crappy ground spot it'll do exactly what you're saying.

Shouldn't be any issues with the radio drawing too much power or anything. I have the same exact unit and I don't have any issues with it acting like it's dying.

Does sound like interference in the electrical system during boot. Could be the ground like above said. Are you running ground though the harness or did you make your own run to a ground point?

I didn't do the installation, electrical is way above my pay grade, a shop did it for me locally. After I fix my car again I'm going to take it to the shop and get them to fix it. I'll make sure they check the grounds.
