Modifying Ground Control

Unfortunately, Ground Control is as good as it gets for coilovers for BHA chassis Proteges these days as everything else has been discontinued.

Is there a way to modify slip-on coilovers to get the most drop out of them possible?

I think the only thing you can do is to have your shocks/struts re-valved and while they are doing that, you can have them shorten the stroke and weld new notches on the shock body where the slip-on will sit.

OR

Skip the Ground COntrols and get in on that UniversalAir group buy.

i have the exact same idea for GC sleeves too!  since you can order specific spring rates, could I order the same or clostest rate for my car so they wouldn't bounce? like everyone says sleeves do.  then id have to mod the struts like you were saying.

Shortened shocks is the only way to get low on ground controls without constantly hitting the bumpstops. Having sleeves has nothing to do with bouniness. It has more to do with spring rate, shock brand/piston position, damper settings etc. I know of several race cars using GC sleeves with custom shocks and spring rates.

fuck it just save up. it's worth the air ride, and the groupbuy is more like a vipstyle price.

I was talking with my friends tonight and I realized that next year my tax return will have a healthy boost thanks to my courses.
So, yeah, guess it's gonna be air ride after all unless something goes horribly wrong =)

what is an estimate of 4 strut mods (shortening)

then DONT bother. haha, save the money, the 500 bucks you spend on ground controls you can just leave it for that air ride.

don't put your rims on til you get ur suspension! i've got my suspension sitting in my room, gotta wait like 4 more weeks til my rims get here from japan. i don't want my car slammed, AND SUNKEN with the stock rims on...hahah

I wouldn't, but I've got no choice...I have winter tires on my stock wheels!
I would actually be ordering springs or something for the summer instead of wheels but *shrug* life doesn't always go according to plan.

On my neon, I couldnt find any suspension that went low enough. So I shaved my struts after attacking them with a cut off wheel to make them 
completely smooth. Then fabricated my own spring perches and slid them over
the bare strut.   When I did this I made sure that my perches were 2" lower than the originals were intended.  Now for shows I can drop my car on the ground to make it look killer,  but if I want to go tear up the mountain passes I can still corner like a mo--er f--ker. Someting I prolly couldnt do if I were on air..   PS spring perches are cnc'd out of aluminum.
