Alright guys, funny rims/tire fitment?
Vehicle: 1991 Lexus LS 400
Just installed my Club Linea rims today with Toyo T1-R tires. Here's what I'm running:
front - 19x8.5 with 235/35/19
rear - 19x9.5 with 255/30/19
I think there's less than a quarter inch of a difference between the front and rear tires but if you stand back long enough away from the car the rear tires do look a little skinnier than the front. At first glance, it wasn't noticable but stare at it long enough and the rear tires starts looking slightly skinnier (from top of rim to top of tire) than the front tires.
do these tires specs sound right for the size rims I have or should they both be either 30 or 35 or does it really not matter?

They didn't have 255/30 so I used the 265. Yea, the rear tire is going to be smaller than the front, you probably should have gone with 255/35 to even it out.

What do you mean by "the rear tires do look a little skinnier than the front" do you mean that skinnier in width or the sidewall?
I was thinking that all ascpects of the tires/wheels would be smaller in the front than the back when looking at the car from a distance in the rear.

235/35/19 on a 19x8.5 is fine, and 255/30/19 on a 19x9.5 is also fine... but, because this is my opinion, I would have liked a 265/30/19 in the rear, instead of the thinner 255 width.

35 series front, and 30 series rear is a common setup, even from the manufacturer... except that the manufacturer will include wheels that may be either narrower, or tires that are wider.

but I'm still such a n00b when it comes to tires and rim specs. I just hate the fact that when standing at the side of the car at a distance the rear tires look skinnier (bottom to top starting from top of rim) than the front and I've also noticed a heavy shaking in my car at 60+mph (this didn't occur when I had my stock rims/tires). :mad: is this the balance or could the thinner tire in the rear be the culprit?
the width of the tires are fine. I'm just worried about the thickness of the tires between the front/rear.
MAYBE THE QUESTION I SHOULD BE ASKING IS: What tire sizes would you guys have recommended for a 1991 Lexus LS 400 that is not going to be airbagged right now (only dropped with Tanabe 2" drops) with 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear rims?

I think your sizes are fine. As far as I can tell you dont need to be stretching tires now.
Shaking or vibrating is usually caused by tires/wheels that are not balanced properly. It could also be warped rotors, but in this case you say you didnt have this problem before, so we can rule this out, for now. It could also be the tires, if you have an alignment problem and your tires get feathered badly you will notice a vibration at speeds. Run your hands along the treads of your tires, when looking at your tires from the side start at 9 o'clock and feel to 3 o'clock. If you feel no difference your tires are probably ok. If you feel smooth going one way and sharp edges the other way, this could be the culprit as you stated. The treads SHOULD feel flat and smooth all along the tire.

Keep in mind that I have new rotors/pads already installed and my Toyo tires are brand new.

Keep in mind that I have new rotors/pads already installed and my Toyo tires are brand new.
Then I would have to say either a bent wheel or wheels or that they arent balanced, it could be that just one weight on one wheel came off, it could be that simple.

Yeah go get an alighnment done. The wheels should have already been balanced. either way you'll need an alignment after switching to aftermarket wheels.
then see if it still occurs. (the shaking) make sure your tire pressure is even on both front wheels and even on both rear wheels.
then all else fails get the wheels re balanced.

Changing wheels doesnt mean you need an alignment... WTF. Are you serious? Your alignment spec are the same no matter what. Your toe doesnt change, Your camber doesnt change, your caster doesnt change, so why would you need an alignment just by putting new wheels on? Heres the truth about vibrations. If your vibration happens above 60mph you have a tire issue(ie: balance, cupping tires, defective tires or rims or bent rim). If its below 60mph you more than likely have a parts issue(ei; tie rods or bushings or balljoints or something to do with wareable parts), but it also could be tire related. Hi speed vibration is tire, period. alighnment issues smooth out at high speeds. Besides bad alignment(correctable alignment) usually causes tire wear not vibration. Bad parts or out of balance tires cause vibration.

and you couldn't have been more right.
I just went ahead and got them rebalanced today and bam, problem solved. The dude told me that my driver-side front rim wasn't balanced correctly by whoever did it the other day so he re-did it and no more vibration at high speed.
