DUFFM4N's LS400 "OOOH YEAH"
****DISCLAIMER****
Some of the things you will see here, will at times stray off from the "norm" as I sometimes do my own thing. I'm an asshole, so I tend to do asshole shit...and that's ok if you don't like it, I still love you...
So it's been about 6 years since I've been able to mod a car, but due to recent events, I've been able to make some moves on a new project....
Car: 2000 Lexus LS400
Mileage: 112K
Price: $6K
Pros: interior taken care of (no rips), nothing missing from the car, engine runs GREAT (bay looks showroom clean)
Cons: Front passenger headlight has broken tab, causing the corner light to not sit flush, "yellowing" headlights, driver side door lock has to be locked manually, front suspension is blown (its like trying to talk on a water bed)
1/31/14 - Got a care package from the guys over at StanceUSA/Touge Factory...Stance Super Sports, and a couple free nobori flags to hang up here at the shop :)
I'd like to put the coilovers on today, but no rush, especially since my wheels won't be here till next week. Plan to run a Wald kit all around, exhaust I'll prolly cut off the stock mufflers and run a straight pipe, (still haven't decided) but I'm just not a fan of the huge canister/long tip exhausts. I'll update next week once the wheels come in...any comments/suggestions are welcomed!
Also, most of the time I forget to update these threads, since its easier to just post on Instagram....So anyone who wants to follow there its:

Yeah, but the wheel was just sitting on the lugs, no lug nuts because the stock ones had a washer on em, didn't wanna tighten them and risk the washer getting stuck.
So once fully mounted, they'll sit a bit closer and obviously camber in once I throw the coilovers in and bring the car down

2/5/14: installed the coilovers, previous owner thought the suspension was blown up front, but turns out the strut wasnt even installed properly, or the bot up top backed off...either way, the car was riding just on the spring on the front driver side
looked like this when I got the car up in the air and the wheel off...
2/7/14: Wheel specs are 18x9.5 +10 and 18x11 +8. Ended up going with a 225/40 and 235/40, after mounting the wheels on the car, I could have gotten away with a 215/40 up front and it would have allowed for a bit more clearance. Fenders will be getting radius'd within the next week or so depending on when my guy can bring the car in. Once that's done, the car will come down more and cut holes up top for the control arm. Tax return should be here within the next week or so...then I'll be ordering up all the Battle Version stuff, and taking care of the audio situation inside (driving me crazy only being able to listen to the radio).

So I got the car back on Friday (2/28/14) from getting the fender work and re-paint done. Had the fronts pulled out to clear the wheels, and the rears to clear the tire. Brought the front down a little bit as soon as I got it back to the shop...then drove it to Vegas later that day for the weekend
at the body shop when picking it up...
after bringing the front down a little more....
Finally got this thing registered and put my plates on it...these were taken in the Valet out front the Aria in Vegas, while waiting to pick up our show tickets for the night. I couldn't resist
Next is audio, I'm tired of rocking this aux cable out of the tape player, shit is peasant as fuck lol

You can always do the aux-changer mod to get rid of the tape adaptor. I noticed a MASSIVE improvement in the sound quality to the point of not really seeing a need to upgrade the deck or rest of the stereo besides the sub&.
i have a link if you are interested...

Understandable, but it's $15 and a couple hours of time vs deck+dash kit+etc... Unless you are going for a good double din with nav...
car looks great either way!

correct shmee! to run an aftermarket deck you'll need the $280 SLA-22AD mystery box from beatsonic to be able to adapt the new HU to the speakers which goes through the factory amp under the pass side seat. it's a pain to chase down wires and try to bypass and tap everything yourself. it can be done this regular way but i'd rather just pay for easy plug-and-play.
pay $100 more for the SLA-22 kit and you get the matching mounting bezel.

quick little update...picked these chrome door trim pieces off eBay over the weekend for like $33 shipped. Didn't expect them to arrive until the 11th. We'll see how long they last and if they fade or not, they definitely look better than the stock black trim there. Thoughts?

Yeah they just apply with double sided tape, took 10min tops to install them. At first they looked weird to me, but they sit fairly flush and definitely look better than the black faded trim that was there...

i have the gloss black version of these trims and they are holding up well. i've had it since august 2013 and they are still scratch free and holding on strong.
the only issue i have with them is if you ever decided to get a set of OEM rain visors (if you can even find them), the trims will need to be modified so the visors can sit flush.

its been a while, not much going on...got my 12" sub/amp hooked up, still stock headunit. While running connecting the existing RCAs/power/remote wires, we noticed that someone had replaced the stock interior sub with an aftermarket one (which was blown).
So since we just finished setting everything up, I decided to order this 8inch open air sub off amazon ($67.98), and it ended up arriving the next day (Vegas ---> Cali)
Also, one of my distributors through work gave me a polyurethane front lip, fitment is decent...got it painted through a body shop that we work with (free). and this is how it currently sits.
Cleaned up/restored the headlights, so no more foggy ugliness, need to order up a matching set of clear corners. In the next week or 2, I'll be raising the motor and cutting the exhaust just behind the cats to raise the whole system as well from this write up:

Looks good man. that lip is pretty clean, what brand is it?
Are you going to change/clean the fogs to match?
What did you tap into for your remote if you are using the stock deck?
Followed on IG, Conglomeratemotorworks

to be honest with you...my buddy did everything for me, RCAs were ran/Power & remote were already tapped into the harness behind the head unit and ran to the trunk. looked like the previous owner had an aftermarket headunit in it before, also found a mic up by the driver sun visor for hands free phone calls. I had to get a Hi/Lo converter to tap into the stock amp to make everything work...took a couple hours in total.

Where'd you tap into the amp for the high low? Pre or post amp? I'm about to do this myself and was curious how others were/have done it.

search for the pin out on the stock amp, the hi/low converter's wires are labeled...tap them into the amp accordingly

took the car to get the exhaust work done....
cuts made
get this this outta here
all finished and tucked, new bungs and o2 sensors hooked up. what's not pictured is the hangers that connect the piping to the transmission bracket....
rear section/muffler delete, I did this prior to the tuck posted above....but never posted a picture
I definitely noticed a difference, not scraping on driveways I normally would, no more taking reflectors with me off the road....hopefully no more exhaust leaks as well. There's a video on my instagram (@rawritseddie) from when I first did the muffler delete if you wanna know what it sounds like...
Ordered and paid for my "vip" table today as well...should be here next week I'm hoping

Timmy...No issues with fumes, but I guess if you were concerned, there's room to go back about another 4-6 inches further from where mine stop

Thanks Tim! Well I used the pic of the boxes for a set of wheels I sold (18x10 +18 XD9s), because I was too anxious to take pics of my boxes...
18x9.5 +16 (effective +1)
18x10 +10
gonna take some camber outta both front and rear

scooped these up last night for $100. 1 was broken and then repaired (cant even tell by looking at them), then the full set was painted black (which I didnt mind)...just peeling off the old 3M double sided tape, then I'll apply new tape and put them on a little later today

thanks man! yeah the works definitely change up the look of the car.
also, along with the window visors today, I finally got around to taking the hole saw to my shock towers, I was honestly being lazy about doing it, turns out my laziness helped when it came to marking where to drill because I had dented the shock tower exactly where it needed to be cut. In case anyone was wondering, use a 2 & 3/8ths hole saw, perfect size for the hole to allow the ball joint to clear.
We've got cool toys at work that allow me to be able to get this stuff done fast & free... holes were just welded around, gonna fab up some "cowls" to cover the holes and add some extra support later, but this will due till next week or till I get tired of all the road dirt/water coming up into my engine bay lol

Gorgeous LS! And thats a hell of a clean cut! How did u know where to make the indentation to cut the hole perfectly above the balljoint? I'm going with this method. I already ordered a 2-3/8 hole saw with mandrel.

Oh like in the last post...I had put it off for so long that the ball joint put a dent in the shock tower and just jacked up the car to get under there and double check....dead on, so I just tapped the middle of the dent with a small drill bit to keep me center and that was it....
