VIP CAR shows in Japan

Hey guys !!
I´m planning to visit Japan this year, and I want to arrange my trip vising some big VIP CAR show/meeting. But I have no idea where to get info about dates and places of the events.

Anyone have some info ??

outside of this if you are just talking big car meets then you would have to know some local folks.  i heard yokohama has huge weekly/monthly meets at the bayside giant parking area.  osaka pretty much has a lot of awesome cars out on a friday and saturday night late night if you just drive around.

other than that you can plan to drop by some of the vip brand's boutiques.  i've seen a couple and they are sweet, like the DAD store in osaka and JP store in osaka as well.

I´d like to go more to the outside parking lot meets, more than an inside show.

at the osaka show there are big big gatherings outside in the parking lot which i didn't know about until after i saw all the 'normal' people's vip cars in the pics and various threads after the show.  had i known i would have surely stopped by to see all the real (driven) cars outside.

they also just did a big one a few months back at the tokyo motor speedway but i forget the name of it,, something like survival of the fittest or some other catchy phrase.  i know some people on this forum went or at least checked out the pics afterwards so come on guys, help me out here  ;)

Your best bet is to get a VIP car magazine. In the back of the magazines they put shows by location. If you know where you will be going than you can ask local folks for the smaller meets also. When are you planning on visiting and where do you plan on going? Good luck!

I plan to go in summer, july-august.....a friend of mine lives in Tokio and thats where I´m going. But I´m ready to go to another city if it is worth it.

i live on a small tropical island 1000 miles south of tokyo but have been to mainland a few times to visit family and friends.  my favorite cities are osaka (+ nearby kyoto), hiroshima (+ nearby miyajima island), then tokyo (+ nearby yokohama) for the exotic and futuristic...  i would suggest taking a bullet train out to at least one of these cities so you can get a sense of what japan is like other than just hustling bustling tokyo.

I live in Aomori about an 8 hour drive (3 hour bullet train ride) North of Tokyo. I tried finding a list online of events and couldn't. Minkara has a new function with events but haven't had time to look in detail. I was planning on picking up the newest issue of VIPstyle magazine anyway because my friend made it in the February issue. I will try and load the schedule of events I mentioned from the magazine. There is usually something going on during the weekends at various parking areas also like daikoku and tatsumi. They have facebook pages if your interested.

i got the march (newest) VIP Style, but i don't read Japanese :shrug: (no excuses anymore),, what page or where can i find this info at?

Bronson, sorry I meant March... Just picked it up. Pages 147-148 are where the event info is. Can you take a pic and post it? Im on my cell phone... BTW, there is a show in Okinawa (page 147 bottom right) on March 30 at Tire Shop Tom West. That close to you? The next for me is April 27. Plan on continuing my build mid March so I can go!

awesome, you are the man...  not sure where that place is at but it is not a very big island so i will try to be there for sure.

just heard of a drift/car show event this weekend too.

i really want to get back into vip more but this place is depressing me.  sad that living in japan although we are like the cuba of japan can have such crappy vip game  ;)

i am by no means a pro but i feel like i get motivated by seeing and being around other good builds.  although i am not pleased with what is in most of the march vip style mag...  what the hell is half of that crap, seems like pikka pikka kei yankee style builds to me.  everything is going back to shiny flashy completely overdone builds that look like crap to me.

i miss the clean classy vip style builds.  nowadays everyone in mainland japan just wants to put giant cut out hoods, giant wide body kits (fenders) and lots of hair gel in their hair with colored lense sunglasses,, gay...!

dude, so you can rent these cars... that is insane.  my pick is this one for sure and i think i will have to try this out next time i am up that way

A friend of mine and her husband recently drove their AE86 and Hako.. said it was awesome!

As mentioned Osaka has a huge following if VIP cars and so does a Yokohama and even Tokyo. Daikoku-Futo one of the most famous parking areas has a lot of VIP groups show up ever weekend and sometimes at Tatsumi parking area imon the C-1 loop in down town Tokyo.  Tatsumi is more for exotic sports cars and high dollar builds that will make your jaw drop. Meeting super cool guys that driver ferraris, lambos, gt3 Porsches and even Zonda super cars is a weekend norm there. I am in the middle of moving back into tokyo from Way up north in Aomori and can't wait to be at the local meets every week again.

i just bought my plane tickets to fly up to osaka (from okinawa) for the February giant auto messe there.
