wow, forgot how many people listen to rap still. i have been listening to dancehall (as usual), and UK grime/baseline/uk deep bass house with a little drums and bass and patois flow mixed in.
and soca when in my wife's car,, = no subs...

okay so, to be more specific and to merge a few different genres, yesterday i was playing the new walshy fire/ major lazer bbc radio 1xtra mix. it is pretty new and unless you are way deep into this new melding genre you are likely not to hear anything newer or more cutting edge. the first few minutes is a little slow for me but around 28-30 minutes somewhere in that area, it really picks up. bass heads should be feening over this one for a min. again it is a mix between dancehall style (dj walshy fire) and from the old house days (diplo now major lazer). and i prefer dancehall, sorta still unsure about this new merging with the techno sound, although i do love me some deep bass ;)

lol major lazer... you mean diplo and whoever he's with at the moment? he does put on a dope ass show though. not a huge dancehall fan, but it's definitely coming more into the mainstream now. a lot of producers looking for different sounds, and as soon as one or two of them get on it everyone else will.

I'm 30 and grew up outside of D.C. A lot of my musical influence comes from the old school. Earth, Wind, and Fire, Hall and Oates, Marvin Gaye, the Bee Gees. Stuff like that. As I got older I listened to everything, but the Northeast hip hop scene is what I bump to on the regular. Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Common. Usually I'll set pandora to Reflection Eternal and it gets the job done.

I'm 31, a resident DJ for Exchange LA, Avalon, and my DS#ARP LA events at the Mondrian, The Standard, and The Broadway Bar.....
So you'll hear a lot of my own productions in my car because it's been my favorite place to monitor my tracks and I usually stick to the Deep House & Tech House genres.....
But definitely my background comes from Hip Hop so I've been experimenting with the whole G-House movement - kinda like a cross between gangster rap (vocals and fills) with a deep house beat......all in all it makes the hunnies move! :)

Hmm. I don't think I've heard any of this G-House stuff. Any examples?
