UK '93 Mitsubishi Sigma to EXE and beyond...

Hi guys, this is my first VIP "style" project and as much as it's definitely not one of the cornerstone VIP base cars i'm hoping I can at least acheive something EXE or a little spicier.
Thing is I'm a self employed mechanic with my own business as a Mitsubishi specialist, so my hands are kinda tied to flying the flag and living the brand. That in mind I do hope to either this year or next own a nice big body car, even if I am aiming towards a Mitsubishi Proudia or Dignity. I had intended to buy an Evo 8 this year after selling a few of my cars but with a baby boy due in January I opted for luxury over speed ( got my Starion for that ;) )

So this is my base....

It was, when I was an apprentice, the most expensive saloon Mitsubishi sold in the UK and was aimed at BMW 5 series drivers, which shows in the styling. Like many of the japanese executives it has stolen queues from many european marks.
It is FWD sadly but it does have a few redeeming features including.....Factory Air! Whether this will end up being a white elephant I don't know yet for sure but so far it looks like by adding a few minor components and modifying others I can get her low and keep from butchering too much to do it.
Interior is already leather and faux wood inserts but I still have plenty on my list to acheive there too. I'll post some interior pics next week. I have a clear idea of the look I want and have already bought a few parts to make a start. It is winter though so I may just focus mostly on the interior changes over the next couple of months but will have to see.

Life's pretty full right now with Christmas just out of the way which we can all relate to and in the next few weeks we're expecting my new son to appear!
So any time I get to do something on my own cars and not customers is rare but what time I can't be modding I'm trying to slowly gather parts for my plan. He'll feeding my leather this week was a buzz to get time to do that, it had been bugging me loads.

I'm reluctant to do much exterior modding til spring as here they love to put so much salt on the roads whenever it gets close to freezing that my car could carry a heart disease warning! That in mind I've been upgrading lighting, playing with the air ride and making a start on the interior and entertainment,

After seeing some of SKPerformances awesome work I have been inspire to experiment with some LEDs and made changes.

I got a pair of clear front corners shipped from Australia to the UK but the Aus version of the Sigma the Verada or Magna never came with the chrome grille surrounding the corners so I'll have to remove the lenses and modify them to fit onto the standard corner backing. One shot deal or it's another $100aus for another pair.

I took them appart once already to remove the yellow filter

Only thing is now after realising the size difference between the original and this one I'll have to go a few steps further to make them fit.

I've finally spent my christmas gains and as much as the originallity of the Clarion head unit was nice to see when I bought the car, it just can't stay.
I picked up a clean Alpine IVA 310 DVD head unit and av box for a source unit. Which I've managed to hide behind the dash neatly with very little modification to the dash itself.

I've already temporarily upgraded the rear speakers with some new Kicker 693's I had for another car I sold but the install in this car I want a little more high end. With that in mind I've bought some CDT Eurosport series components for the front end and a Eurosport Sub. Just looking for a nice condition Audison amp/amps to power it all and I can get fibreglassing then.

Remember in the late 90's there was a set of chrome Tacho rings available for almost any car.
Well I found a set of clocks on German eBay with a set for the Sigma, no big deal but I've never seen a set on one before and for a 22 year old car I doubt I'll see another do snapped them up!

Not technically a "big" VIP style mod but something I'll be incorporating into the overall look of the interior eventually. With the arrival of my son Seth only 10 days ago I had to be sure he rode along in safety and style.
That in mind I made custom ISOFIX mounting brackets for a Recaro Profi Plus which along with eventually getting retrimmed I'm also hoping to have the base dipped in a wood grain to match the interior accents.

Test fit on the Stich Precious and the 3000GT calipers to work out the arch clearance and flare needed before the drop.
I might just pull this shit off! Haha

Thanks guys, a little feedback always boosts my motivation. I know it's been a unconventional start to a build but it's mainly been due to collecting parts and the arrival of my son. Should really gather some pace over the next few weeks.

Sorry I've not been here in forever. Had the worst year. Cost me me family, my business and my sanity.
But what doesn't kill you right?
