Its been about 5 months since I picked up my current project a 97 Infiniti q45t. Ive always wanted to build a Vip car and being that I really like Nissans I decided on the Y33 platform. So after searching on Phoenix craigslist I came across this beauty...Ok well Not very beautiful but I saw the potential. It had a straight body besides some dings and a small dent on the front passanger fender, the paint was flat black because of all the sun damage. The Interior was great besides the normal worn arm rest on the driver door and center console.
This is it:

So first thing first I removed all of the old tint. Now I needed to get that paint taken care of, and get this thing lowered. I was able to get my hands on a set of S14 Megan lowering springs for free 99. So being that I didn't pay anything for them I decided to use them as a temporary solution until I could get my hands on a good set of coilovers.

This is what it looked like when I dropped it off for paint.

So being that it was already black I decided to just respray the exterior since all the door jams were already black and in good condition. So I took it over to my Buddys shop Elevens' Paint and Fiber in Phoenix AZ.

So after a week at the shop I got it back and decided to put my s14 wheels on it. Varrstoen Es2 18x9.5 and 10.5.. I know what youre gonna say, those are definitely not VIP but its all I had at the moment.

I also sanded and polished the Headlights because they were pretty yellow.

Picked up some Jdm badges.. I know a lot of people aren't really about the badges but I really wanted them to complete the look. So I picked up Jdm Cima Grill, Hood Mascot and Rear Emblems. Excuse the dirty paint, we just had a dust storm.

by this point I was pretty pleased with the progress but I really wanted to get some wheels that would be more aggressive and fit the theme better. So I picked these up.
Weds Kranze Cerebus I. 18x10 +7 offset front and 18x11 +7 rear. I know it wasn't the most aggressive set up, and most would have probably opted for 19s but I really like the look of 18s.

I also sourced some Jdm window visors and threw those on, but not after getting the paint color matched.

Ive also added black Juntion Produce Curtains on the front and rear windows and Grip Royal wooden steering wheel.

Thanks man, the ride is pretty Soft, definitely too soft for my taste. Around here the roads are really flat so its doable.

Car looks great! I really like the front emblems/ badges. Not really feeling the lettering in the back but it doesn't look outta place.
What are you planning next?

Thanks guys. The Paint was done by Elevens' Paint and Fiber in Phoenix. The owner Dylan is a buddy of mine. Great prices and awesome work.
As far as the next step for the build , I just ordered a set of Powered by Max coilovers so I'll be installing those once I receive em. Also having a custom axle back with blast pipes made. I'll post some pictures of the progress.

This is after the initial removal of the spindle. I didn't really know what to expect, if you ever find yourself doing this be sure you're prepared to clean up oil from the shock.

Surprisingly the coilover slipped right on to the spindle. This was just a test fit. You can see about a quarter inch gap from the base of the coilover to the spindle. My son insisted on his foot being in this pic.

I did some grinding to expose the raw metal to prep for welding.
painted the the base of the coilover with high temp paint to cover all the exposed metal and give it a cleaner look. I think I could have have cut the shock closer to the spindle but it turned out ok. My original brake line couldn't mount to the shock so I had to rig it for now. I'll be changing out the brake line anyway so I'm not worried about it.

First I just want to say thanks to all that have been following my thread, and for all the compliments and input, I really appreciate it.
Here are some pictures of how my car sits on the new coilovers. I am beyond satisfied with the ride quality these provide. The fronts are as low as they go. I think on 19 inch wheels it would look a lot better, but I'm definitely satisfied. Moving forward I'm planning on getting some PBM slip on spacers to push the wheels out just a bit to better fill the wheel wells in the front. On the rear in plan to adjust the camber to push the top of the wheel out.
I'm also looking into getting some blast pipes made, but I'm unsure on whether to get stainless all the way out or do stainless and have chrome tips added.
