stepped lips

Looking for wheels w/ stepped lips. I know some of the works, ssr's, and leon hardiritt's can be ordered with them. Any more direction towards some wheels will be appreciated.

It might help to know what car they will be going on.

out of curiosity, why would the type of car matter?? bolt pattern is 5x114.3.

Sorry, I thought you wanted an opinion on a good looking set of wheels with stepped lips. I thought it might help to know what car they will be going on to give you a better suggestion.

Stepped lips are much stronger and dont bend as easily. Here's a couple examples

Yeah, it's really all about where the drop centre on the tire is.

My favorite stepped lip wheel is the leon hardiritt orden/work euroline SL

Stepped lips catch the light better too. :thumbsup:

IMO  stepped lips look to have a sporty kick to em...  In some applications
they look much better with than without the stepped lip, like in oneton's case.

What's a drop centre? I've worked with wheels/tires for years, and have never heard that term.

Steped lips dont look as deep dished as a reversed lip does

Yes and no sometimes... 
sometimes, depending on other factors such as the face of the wheel, angle of lip surfaces, lip flange design, etc... a stepped lip of a given width can actually appear deeper than a non-stepped lip of similar width. Just gotta look around at a bunch of wheels and see what looks best for each particular application..

I have to say I am with the ministah on this issue.  I have never personally seen a stepped lip that appeared any where near as deep as a reverse lip of the same size.

I am not saying I do not love stepped lips, but if you truely want a DEEP set-up, stepped lips make it a lot harder visually.

Step-lip wheels may be stronger but the "non step-lipped" wheels just look so much better IMO....But if I had to choose a step-lipped wheels it would have to be any of the DPE wheels.

In most cases, that's actually not true.

Most of the "reverse" type rims have the outer lip (bead) rolled over itself, making it two thicknesses at the bead instead of just one. I've been in the wheel business for over a decade and stepped-lip rims always come back with greater and more frequent damage.

The problem with the Japanese wheels is that they won't sell you a replacement lip, so it doesn't really matter that much- you're buying a new wheel at that point. Most of the American manufacturers WILL service their wheels- this means a couple hundred dollar repair instead of $1K+ for a new wheel.
