Toyota Crown Majesta UZS186 finally got one

Hi everyone, new here, was into VIP 15 years ago then life took over, now I am back and just picked up the Majesta as a family mover but it needs some vip most quick smart. Its been a while and my knowledge on this platform is nil. A few questions for the community to help me out with:

1. Can I simply install an aftermarket height controller to drop the car a couple of inches?
2. Recommended offset for 9-11 inch wheels to sit noce and flush, not hella flush
3. Nav and stereo is all Japanese, is there any update fw or maps for other countries, specifically Asia Pacific (NZ)

hey whats up, i actually just bought the same car a few months back.  i haven't found any support in english for this car but since it shares some of the same pieces as other cars it does help a little.

1.  Yes - i just put on the proper DataSystems controller.  I got the ASC680 just got to make sure you buy the proper harness for your car.  here is a link to a controller but you will need harness h-086E.  actually 'Rakuten Global' sells these sometimes and ships world wide so you might want to check on that site.

2.  i'm still not 100% sure on this cuz i had the 18 crown athlete before this 18 crown majesta and the wheels weels seem like the metal is a little thicker on the fenders for the majesta to me.  i had my athlete fenders shaved thin all the way around and was running pretty aggressive stance on stock arms but stretched tires and slammed.  that thread is here somwhere in the toyota section.

3.  i just added an aftermarket amp, sub, and aux cable and it sounds pretty damn good in my opinion.  this sounds a lot better than it did in my 18 crown athlete for some strange reason...

I have ordered the controller but in the meantime I just re-drilled the height switches brackets to trick the height computer to give a 3 inch drop on the low setting. On the high setting its a 2 inch drop. At the rears I just slotted the switch bracket another 6mm, this gave the equivalent drop at the rear.

While the car was in the air I noticed the air bag inner sleeves had corrosion and I suspect this would eventually rupture the bag. I filed this bag and sanded smooth, then treated with rust milk. Once the milk has set it puts a smooth protective layer on the steel and now the bag wont rupture prematurely. 

Then I tinted the windows and added some upward facing twin dump pipes and 18x9.5 dish II's with 30mm spacers to get the lip past the guards

Next step is to redo the interior to darker colour, beige just doesn't do it for me.

Hi. I have tested its maximum low setting and its only 10mm lower than pictured. I am only on 18's which gives the perception its not as low as it can go. Going lower is no advantage as I don't want to wreck the factory bags. This is my daily and family car so I need to be practical :)

I am looking at some 20inch Eurolines which I can tuck and look lower without affecting ride quality.

I get what you are saying though.

from your picture where you re-drilled the holes:

i just loosened the screw and slid the arm up to the top (about 1/4 - 1/2" was all it went up) then tightened it back down.  this gave me about a 2" lower drop front and rear.

my biggest dilema is that my majesta rides so smooth on setting 6 and 7 on the controller but looks to high for me aesthetically.  9 looks so much lower but rides rougher, so my dilema is to look cool or to ride smooth.  i think i am finally getting older becuase back in 2010 there was no debate for me and i rode around on 9 all the time (LS430), but lately i have been putting it on 7 and even 6 for driving around  :)

i'm still looking for a harness for you but all i can find is the full price ones for like $120 plus shipping.

I did the adjustment on the slots first but didn't get the drop I wanted so went for the drilled holes, then I used the slots to do the finer adjustment and get all 4 corners identical from chassis rail to ground, not tyre to guard as I like the raked look.

I got a chance to try it with 5 people in the weekend at both the high and low setting. High was comfortable and low was ok. The roads here are pretty good over my side of town, it could be worse elsewhere.

I rolled the guards in the weekend. I didn't realise they were triple skinned so I used the heat gun to get the paint and metal a bit more maluable then carefull taped each layer up with a rubber mallet. No lumps or dings or cracks, it worked great and now no guard rub at all :)

Next I will redo the interior black, anyone used cloth paint before?

I picked up a set of 19x9.5 and 10.5 AME Shallen's. They were all curbed badly but considering these are very hard to find in New Zealand, I was pretty happy with the buy.

Looked like this:

Then I used a medium grade half moon file and removed all the damage, then 200 grit sand and a 600 grit sand. Looked like this:

Then I polished them with a fine grade metal polish and sheep skin buffer wheel, turned out nice:

Installed 225/35 and 235/35 with a mild stretch. I could have gone with a wild stretch but its about driveability for me. 20mm spacers in the rear and 30mm up front. Had to roll the rear guards a wee bit more as the rears are a bit wider than the 18s I had.

nice work but I personally thought the previous wheels looked a little better on that car...

All good. I have a mega man crush on the vienna dish and euroline style but the 18's were just a bit too small. I still have them tucked away. I plan on getting a ls430 or v6 crown for the wife and use the wheels.
