Another Noob: What Size Tires for 18"s

Hey guys,

I have a is350 and thinking about going with some VIP wheels (18x9 and 18x10) i found... i'm def. looking for the stretch look... but need it to be reliable at the same time bcause it's my dd, is that possible? and what sizes do you gurus recommend? i'm thinking about going with the FK452's. Thanks in Advance for all the help!

fk452's defiantly don't stretch "super crazy" like the old st115's
and fk451's did. they fall within what NORMAL tires sit like.

as for 18x9 and 18x10. if u want a nice ride, did u wanna run 35
profile? its gonna be thin... i would suggest a 40 if u wanna have
a nicer ride.. something like 225/40 and 235/40 would give u cushion
and it would be for sure a stretched look. if not, u might wanna run 235/35
and 245/35. that would not stretch as much but it'll be thinner..
but why do u wanna stretch your tire? do u need to stretch it to
clear your fender? 

what [b]offset[/b] do u wanna run? thats the most important thing.

Thats what i've been hearing about the fk452 too... well the wheels i've found have an offset of 41+ in the front and rear with 48+... i wanted more of a vip look with the stretch tire and all but it's not as important as i am more worried about the ride but i think it would still be nice with the stretched tire look. i'm just seeing what my options are. thanks

stretch occurs when mounting a tire on a wheel that is wider than its recommended mounting range, regardless of offset.

the greater the width of the rim past the max recommended wheel width the greater the stretch.

i wouldnt recommend stretching the tire if you are worried about safety, don't have tripple A, or don't enjoy changing a flat on the side of the road.

avoiding the balloon look can be achieved by staying at the end of the recommended manufacturer's range, and not run the risk of damaging rims and/or popping beads.

and before all the hardcore tire stretching bandits can jump up and boast how many miles they have driven on unbelievably stretched tires, i would not recommend stretching smaller than a 215/35/18 on the 18x9, and a 225/35/18 on the 18x10.

i ran fk451's... 215/35 on 8" 18's and i felt like they
were so rubberband thin, they rode like piss.
i would try to get a 40 if u can. but if your fitment
won't allow it.. stick to whatever works.
my coworker has 215/35 fk452's on 18x8
and 225/40 fk452's on 18x9.
they have a nice look, simple stretch, nothing SUPER
crazy but it looks nice and has a semi decent tapered
sidewall.. for sure the ziex512 and fk451's stretched more
running the same size tires.

can i know 205/40/17 fit into a 17" 8jj... is it fitable? and stretch is it?...plz help :(...

stretch to make the wheels fit, not to have the stretch look. Me, I personally wouldn't run a stretched tire unless I have to.

yeap i understance about clearance, but i planning to get the wheel flush out instead of hiding inside my fender.. so anyone know how stretch will it look like for 205/40 to 17" 8jj?
