poke, do you like it or not?

I was looking at mista808's thread and everyone was liking the poke on the gold ufc20. I for one don't like that much poke on the front or even rear for that matter. I think it looks tacky(no offense). I can tolerate a little poke in the rear but not in the front. I know I'm using a bad example by using that gold car since its not on air and I remember reading its in the works. I'm talking about cars that are at ride height and have that much poke. Again I'm saying, I know that gold car is gonna look good when he installs his air ride. Its only an example. So I'd like to hear everyones opinion.

it definitely doesn't look right when it's not as low as we all know it will be...but since he is going to get it down there, what' sthe difference?  i don't really know anyone who drives around with that much poke without ever planning to lower the car more...

I drive with with my wheels pokin out a lil at ride height.  Once I slam the car tho, the camber takes care of all the poke and it sits very nicely.  I like it to poke out a bit, gives the car a lil character.

when he goes lower the camber will put it in a lot more, imo it does look a bit too much up front but when we goes lower well see

like I said, I only used that car as a reference. I know its gonna camber in. I'm talking about cars that have poke at ride height. I think it looks a bit lowriderish :p Maybe its just me but I like my cars tucking tire while driving :p

My car also pokes at my ride hieght sometimes as well, but the camber when lowered makes up for it big time! :) and besides my car looks good at the ride height from behind! :)

I agree on the front though, sometimes the front can be off but who cares!

This is even better if you can drive at a low height........ some cars at his height the bumpers are on the ground and just cant drive like this. A stock car or w/ a lip kit can.

Depends on what you drive and how you like to drive........ I drive YON w  D at times depending where im going and what drive way I need to get up on / over.

I personally think poke = tacky. makes it seem like improper fitment.
especially when theres poke with tire.
 
a little poke of just lip edge is ok.
 
on the other hand......what I do like is the[B] illusion[/B] of a poke.
 
to be so wide that it seems at times that you have pokage....but when you look directly from the side you see flushness.
 
I believe this pic illustrates the illusion of a mild poke......but if you see it from the side, its completley flush

My eurolines poke a little now, at stock height. (well, its lowered an inch.) I like it.  When my air ride is done, Im going to make the rim JUST clear the fender.

i like poke... my next set im gonna go lower offsets front/rear... i mean when its bagged and cambered in it will sit flush... i know my friends ucf21 has quite a bit of poke but after its bagged and camber takes over it'll sit flush...

i like poke....i always thought it looked cool ever since i saw a slammed mk3 vw with a bunch of poke. example

One must also consider the fact that most "poke"-especially in the US-is the result of someone getting wheels that are too aggressive merely for the fact that they can show off "I have such-and-such width/offset/lip" to one-up someone else w/o thinking, coupled with a lack of ability to camber their car adequately to make their wheels look like they belong... so with that said, poke squid in those situations is not too cool...

Depends on the car. I like VeeDubs with full poke, but I find it less attractive on a car that's supposed to be classier. I'm always a fan of "right to the edge" flush though.

That Audi is mind boggling.

i love to poke.

wheels just shouldn't stick out past the fenders.

It's easy to get any big wheel and throw it on your car. To get the wheel inside/flush to the edge of the fender is a battle. I know alot of people "poke" at ride height, but the key IMO is to get the lip of the rim to almost kiss the edge of the fender at ride height, and sit rite inside the edge of the fender at full down.

I poke on all 4 corners.  I personally like it but I plan to fix that with camber and air.  Poking is cool when you cant see the top of the tire, only side wall.  Other wize, it looks ghetto.

I said it looks ghetto becasue the only cars around here that poke are geo metros and rav4's on 13x8 wheels.  Anyway I since corrected my poke.

poke reminds me of my lowrider days...that's the scary thing to me about getting new wheels with really super agressive offsets.  That's why its sometimes better to go slightly agressive and if its not too bad, add a 5mm spacer.

Dont get me wrong the car is sick one of the sickest Xb's I had ever seen.  I just think the poke in the front is alittle bit too much.  If it can be corrected I would try to get the back to poke out like 10mm so its looks even.  I could be wrong though, im just judging by the pic you posted.  Once again nice ride.

How are you going to call him a wimp when you dont know how high he drives?  Anyway His A6 is the sickest that I had ever seen.  So much attention to detail went into this build.

For the size of the car, the wheels are relatively small, so its basically laying frame at that height.
Personally, i like it. I am sure people say the exact same thing about my car & my camber (actually they ask me all the time); its all pushing the envelope!
