AME Shallen...'VIP' enough?

for those VIP enthusiasts who live in Houston (which is only a handful), we all know how ignorant the majority of the city is when it comes to VIP anything.

my current rim specs are:

Forum image

19x8.5 (front) / 19x9.5 (rear) / +34 offset (front) / +35 offset (rear)

some of the folks here are hating on my Club Linea Barletta's for two reasons. the offset is too conservative (which I was well aware of when I purchased the rims) and that the rims were for sale on DiscountTires.com for around $200 - $400 (supposedly) for a set brand new. The Club Linea Barletta's have obviously been discontinued from DT for a while now and have even been spotted in a few VIP mags. personally, I love the look of the Barletta's, and that's no lie.

long story short, I am looking into these AME Shallen's:

the rim specs on these AME's are:

19x9 (front) / 19x10 (rear) / +28 offset (front) / +25 offset (rear)

are these AME's considered baller enough for a Junction Produce LS4?

Thanks- (arigatou) in advance.

I do too, hence, the reason why I purchased them. everyone's just saying, "you cheaped out on the rims." well damnit, I've never seen these rims go for ANY LESS than $1,000 for a set and even I paid more than that. that cheap deal on DT must've been for a real short time.

why base your car decisions on what other people think?

get what you like.

personally, at this point (if i had your car) id either lower it more, or put all my money into getting bags and spacers.

I already got 15mm spacers all around and I'm working some things out with someone for some bags.

I agree but I will be honest. I like those wheels but they don't fit your car.

i think the lineas are cheap. but you made them look good on your car.

are the shallens vip? yes. will they look good on your car? maybe from far. if you look good the condition of the ones you posted are bad. the face design and balance of the wheel on a high offset (front) make it prone to be dropped and scratched, just like the ones in the pics. with such a large surface face, it is also easy to see the blemishes. some things to consider.

lots of pics posted. ill add some.

If my opinion counts for anything, to me they are both nice designs, but I think the AME's have better sizing and will suit your car's fitment. Also, if you like your current wheel's design, Auto Couture Supreme-BR's in agressive sizes will make your car look even nicer. All constructive criticism here, I like what you've done so far.

thank you. I really appreciate everyone's constructive criticism. the thing some people fail to realize is that getting the money for my new Barletta's with my new Toyo's and/or trading it for another set of rims/tires is not a problem. the problem lies within myself. I love the look of my Barletta's so much that I'd have to have a personal fight with myself in order to let them go.

ah, decisions!

honestly, it might come down to, me keeping my Barletta's and just buying another set and having two different sets of rims. <3

I wish I could find these Barletta's in a wider width and a little lower offset.

I used to own a set of 18" barletta. it was nice for back then.

but the barletta style does NOT match the boxy angular style of a ucf20. no match.

Shallen's are nice but they seem a bit common. The Barletta's look great on your car and will look even better if you spaced them out to tsuraichi status. Check out OKClasse's car, looks real slick.

I don't see why people are hating on your wheels for. I see more people riding on Euroline DH's and Shallen LX's than Barletta's anyway.

the biggest thing the Houstonians tell me, "oh man, your barletta's were on discounttire.com so they're cheapos." they were on there for like what, a month? now club linea (barlettas and other models) is being advertised in various VIP mags. in Houston it seems like autocouture's, work euroline DH's, and low low offsets is what makes a person baller.

I would say they are still VIP. They are definitely getting more common in NA because there are many sources here. They are affordable and nice quality wheels made by Enkei. Want to set your ride apart? Try something else.

yea they are "vip" enough

they are my favorite AME wheel. However probably due to no one having them and the work you have put into them.. i would keep your barlettas.

The shallens you posted for sale arent in very good condition as well

true, which is why I am trying to trade this one dude for his lineas since they are wider and have a better offset.

Discount Tire was Crimson's actual U.S. distributor. You can go to their website and see that they've stated so also. They've sold their wheels for a while, until the stock became really low. I believe the wheels weren't selling so they had to do blowout prices on the remaining that were in stock, just to get rid of them.

Autocouture's, Euroline DH's in low low offsets DO make you a baller. If the people there already understand good fitment and stance, you should meet or exceed their expectations.

They're not Barlettas but they're similar.
