The Gloria is the sportier version.

Yes gloria is more sportier. Cedric seems and feels like a older mans car. Got myself a cedric here in japan and it is actually a great car. It is a 1996 and I got no problems with it

Current Infiniti M45 and Nissan Fuga (Y50) are the FM platform successors of the Cedric and Gloria.
The previous M45 (Y35) was neither Cedric nor Gloria, which had no Y35 car, but a USDM model on its' own. It resembled the Y35 Cedric/Gloria.
The Infinit Q45 is the North American market Nissan Cima.
PS: there is also an M35, which is the V6 model, and M35x, which is AWD with ATTESA-ETS. M45s have a V8 engine.

I have never heard of the 2003-04 M45 being labeled a Y35 chassis, they are Y34s just the same as the Cedric/Gloria.

Since when was/is there a Y35? The 03-04 M45 (Y34) is the USDM equivalent of the Ced/Glo.

Nerp, USDM was Y35, neither Cedric nor Gloria.
I looked it up to make sure.

Can you show us what you looked up? Because the cars are identical in structural components and driveline, the only differences being the engine/trans and interior. I dont believe the Y35, but if you can prove it then we'll go from there.

Hahaha, dude, sorry, but you're dead wrong. It is a CHASSIS CODE...not a model number. They are the
exact same chassis as Japan. Which is Y34. I have no idea where you read that, but they didn't create a separate chassis that was exactly the same as the other..I mean that would be the most retarded thing to do ever. Car companies try to make money, not lose it. Here is a nice quote to help you guys:
Second generation (2003-2005)
2003 Infiniti M45
The 2003 M45 was based on the Y34-series Nissan Gloria/Nissan Cedric, with styling similar to the Gloria. The engine is Nissan's 340 hp VK45DE V8 which produces 333 ft.lbf of torque. The rather Japanese squared-off styling did not make much of a splash on the US market, and the M45 sold poorly.

I see you quoted Wikipedia.
That was also my main source.
Wikipedia entry for Nissan Cedric wrote:Strictly speaking, the Y35 did not supersede the Y34, as this model was only exported to the United States as the Infiniti M45 and used the Y34 chassis. It was not Nissan Cedric, but similar Nissan Gloria with a V8, using Nissan's 340 hp VK45DE V8. Otherwise, it was mechanically (and stylistically) similar to the Y34.
I won't lie, I was surprised and skeptical as well, I had never heard of a Y35 and found it only when I looked up the Cedric and Gloria.

Yes, I did. Mainly since you guys seem to love using it as a source. This is my personal source which happens to be from a 2004 M45 Owners manual #: OM4E-OY34UO
My point is..don't believe everything you read on the internet. And what that stated was moronic. I mean...the numbers are based on the chassis code..which that said was the Y34..so it makes no sense. What I just posted above proves what we're all telling you. There is no Y35 Infinity.

You are correct.
The headlights on the US version vs. the Japanese version are totally different. Even the angle of the inside edge is different.

JDM headlights won't fit on the US spec M45. The angle on the inside portion of the housing is different. The J-spec headlights are almost straight up and down, but the US spec has more of an angle to them.

Mark, so are they modifying the USDM grills they are running on some of them then? I see several guys running the Infinity grills on Japan model, so maybe they have USDM headlights too? So in essence you could run the Japan headlights if you run a Japan grill?

Yes...like the Mode Y34 with USDM headlights.
Here's my JP J-spec grill against the USDM headlights.
Also, the USDM grill has that "beak" for the crash guard compared to the J-spec bumper.

But I have seen numerous amounts of times that there is the identical USDM Y34 grill with a Nissan logo instead of the Infiniti one. Another thing about the headlights would be the beam pattern. USDM cars are left hand drive and JDM cars are right hand drive. Meaning the JDM beams look like this: ---\___ and the USDM beams like this: ___/-----. The steps to the left for JDM and to the right for USDM.
Cheers
