origins and current perspective

i believe my car was one, if not the first car to inspire VIP styling. the japanese automotive industry has always taken cues from the european luxury companies to apply them to thier own models. also, tons of W126 MBs were imported to japan and commonly associated with yakuza. for people like me, the industry is really killing off the true VIP culture here in the US. pushing VIP onto the US consumers through the media is a great way to make money and expand the target market of japanese counterparts. however the lines that define VIP have been heavily obscured. any spo-com enthusiast now thinks 5 spoke chrome wheels, low ride height, and a bodykit defines thier honda/mazda/scion/or whatever to be VIP. how is that different from what all these americans have been doing for so long? my W126 S class is factory equipped with full burlwood trim, hydraulic suspension, high quality leather, reclining rear seats, all heated seats, adjustable aim headlights, rear foot rests, privacy curtains, a million various switches and luxury gizmos. it can't get much more VIP aside from ordering a WALD aero kit, and throwing on some negative offset wheels. it really is unfortunate that the americans only have a focus on what brand name is on all thier add-ons. seems to me the true OG VIP enthusiasts like myself are being demeaned and cast aside to make a buck. i can see it now.. The Fast & Furious 4 'Bippu in Osaka'. This form of tuning is not a new trend by any means. it's a lifestyle.

Welcome to VSC...I take it you haven't read ANY of my posts. I say that because I'm one of the purists who's been around VIP for longer than many of the members have been driving. This isn't a flex my luxomuscle, it's to let you know you're not exactly the only one. I lived in Japan for several years and still visit as frequently as I can. Let me be the first to tell you that you're preaching to deaf ears. Many people here in the US don't care where anything came from. They have a way of destroying everything cool that ever comes here. It's their lot in life. I say "their" because I really don't fit in with the typical USA mentality and lack of respect. All I can say is, get used to it. I try my best to teach people and help them understand the roots and reason for things. It's the most we can do...educate and hope. I'll keep doing this long after it stops being "cool". To me it's not a passing phase. I loved it long before people knew what it was, so why should that change in the opposite spectrum. I'll just keep doing things right, hopefully some people will pick up cues when they do their builds and that'll do just fine for me. The W126 wasn't the first though...the older Century and Presidents were quite pimp in their own league years before your chassis ever came about...but yes, many of the chassis styles were derived from european cars, we all know that. But to say that it was first is a large stretch. I'd say it's one of the oldest that they still make parts for..haha. But this isn't something to debate really. As for parts..it's a well known fact that you've got to pay to play. VIP is not cheap, and the parts aren't cheap or made cheap. Seriously..I don't know where you were going with that one because it very much DOES matter. I'm glad you love your car, now give us a reason to. *hint*

what i find funny and amusing about this thread is that the original post is about how people jump on the bandwagon and convey the wrong message, what I find funny is that the member's name is Bosozoku. Ironic isn't it?

don't take your discussion to PMs. you both seem civil enough to discuss this matter while respecting the others opinions with no personal attacks. some things need to be said regradless of the deaf ears it falls on. don't bother rewording your thoughts to avoid offending, baucause someone somewhere in the world will take offense to it no matter how innocent it may seem.

to the topic of VIP, i'm very happy others share my passion here in the US. i would have sworn i was alone for all my years of interest.. this forum is a step up from benzworld. there, your a purist if you keep your car stock or at the most, do period correct AMG modifications. here, i'm a purist to VIP. the only flaw is i'm sure i will not be recognized for it because my car is german. everyone will disregard the long body luxury saloon as another euro, wilst overlooking the blatant resemblance to japanese counterparts from toyota and nissan.

now, a bit of history from myself. since the age of 13, i've admired the drift culture. i've had heavy japanese influences at an even younger age through my family. i'm from alaska, however i started drifting in the salt lake city area. long before any mention of drifting in magazines, TV, or motion pictures. back then if someone overheard you speak of drifting, they assumed you were 'drifting' off the road over the centerlines or median. i had always admired VIP and actively searched for a good candidate for many years. and yes, i found it to be very expensive. i spent thousands on my drift cars (RPS13 240SX, Z31 300ZX turbo, and four AE86 hatchbacks) which left me with no money to spare for a large newer saloon. the cefiro or cedric were what i was shooting for. with my close friends in japan calling me everyday telling me more and more about thier large black saloons, i was pushed further into the lust for luxury. meanwhile, i had moved back to alaska. you think japan or california has good mountain roads? alaska makes them look like level city streets. i honed my drift skills to perfection in my personal opinion, while always staying under the radar. then, of course, drifting is on america's doorstep. suddenly people are inflating the FUCK out of the prices for classic drift platforms. the cops are catching onto me. people start approaching me acting as if drifting is a competition. no. it's for driving enjoyment or exhibition, it's not a race. all the amazing mountain roads are now being patrolled, i get furiously annoyed, exposed, demeaned by trendy ricers pulling e-brakes, and i still have $3500 worth of unpaid tickets... i am a refugee. i finally found a car worthy of modding for VIP within my budget and liking. it is a way to stay under the radar from the authorites while still being able to modify my car to my VIP taste. living in scottsdale for the past two years, i wasn't noticed by the police. just another mercedes to them. now, i've got the police driving by my house and waiting for me to leave. the tickets cost so damn much i don't even have money to continue with all my planned modifications. so i've got a bunch of half finished projects and i'm now questioning wether or not i should continue with my passion for VIP or just give up due to the police and the way americans are dilluting it. when i speak down upon "americans" i'm not just reffering to the citizens of this country. i'm reffering to the industry, media, and government pulling the strings attached to the deaf, blind, and dumb americans. of course, this doesn't apply to every individual, but more less the majority. possibly harsh words, but certainly not a personal attack to anyone on this board. i regularly sift through many magazines, so i probably should have seen this coming. i noticed an article last year in modified luxury & exotics magazine. now i recently noticed an article in super street. my perspective on thier intentions is to get people hooked as if this were a new trend. all to make money and further stimulate the industry. the catch? VIP is just about the opposite of the typical american taste. expensive heavy 4-doors with muted colors, generally stock motor, automatic transmissions, wood grain, luxury accessories most likely to be enjoyed by a passanger, and aerokits that accentuate the factory lines. so, the industry is paying off the media to open thier market to owners of luxury cars while still snaging the fools with the sport compacts that fit with VIP as well as a circle through the triangle shaped hole.. it's just foolish. throwing some money at all these small sport compacts or other random BS with with name brands like garson, JP, WALD, fabulous, ect, ect- will not be turning heads with thoughts of luxury. purists will view you as a fool and 'pedestrian people' (as i call them) will view you as someone who compramised since you didn't have the funds to buy the luxury car you really wanted.

i suppose i'm just speaking my mind about all this, but any and all replies are appreciated regardless of content. who knows.. i'd be much happier if i were wrong, but until someone else gives me a different perspective, i can only assume i'm a bit more clever than the average yank.

very interesting this thread...I really dont see the point anymore..VIP is VIP and thats all it is..for most folks it is a trend and it is a style in the US its hard to be yakuzza from the states..you dig...and I think honestly if you want to base it off of rules and culture no one in the states will ever be VIP so whats the point and why prove how tuff or hard you are and enjoy the style for what it is today. IF you really want to be VIP you should consider moving to JApan and start hustling and maybe you will be excepted I dont know I have never been but if the yakuzza are anything like the Mobsters,Mafiosos and Jamacains here in the States good luck............

One thing I did notice though is this..You are calling attention to the fact that you are up to something from 9-5 and its not a job whether you are just talking , selling cookies or hustling..why would you do this? To me thats not a smart move and no wonder why you dont want a car that calls out attention you do that yourself..

oh trust me. i don't talk much. i just gave a hint. you can make all the assumptions you want. of course it is a huge contradiction to want to stay under the radar yet still have a life consuming passion for modifying cars.. i'm torn between the two.

an no, i don't toy with bikes, i don't shit where i eat, and my germanic OHV 5.0L V8 is very loud. don't dig into my personal life. just stay on topic.

and VIP styling may have it's roots associated with 'yakuza' but you don't HAVE to be associated with japanese traditions or crime to enjoy VIP. i think this is more a matter of platforms and modifications.

the fact that the platforms and modifications people are typically using here in the states are the exact opposite of VIP. i gave some histroy on myself to explain why i've been attracted to VIP styling. i'm not writing a biography, but showing my perspective and why the whole industry/media/country is ruining VIP for the purists. it's probably confusing because don't see or understand what exactly is going on.

So Mr boso, I have some questions for you. You have all these unpaid tickets in Alaska right? Ive been to Alaska quite a bit and know a lot of people up there in the car scene. Just kinda curious. I mean you're openly posting on a forum here, and throwing out this info (all about your history) yet you dont want to induldge in your personal life? Why post then at all? Just lurk in the shadows since you're so thug. Sorry but you make no sense to me. Why not post up some pics of this beauitful VIP whip you have and put all of us white American wannabes to shame. A picture is a thousand words ;)

BOSOZOKU, you sound pretty bitter about your tickets. Perhaps you should have been responsible, and paid them, instead of trying to mysterious and gangster here. And Swifty had an excellent point about the ironic choice of your screen name - you are most certainly not a bosozoku, and your choice of name seems pretty bandwagon, unless there's an other reason for it.

However, I do agree with your points on how Vip roots are forgotten in the mess of popularity.
On the other hand, you're pretty much preaching to the choir. Those who don't believe aren't listening anyways.

Wow, what did I miss. Haha. First off..there is only a handful of people who renounce Mercedes sedans as VIP. We have less platforms to build on here in the US, so it's not as easy to pull things off like when I lived in Japan. Many of us openly accept Mercedes as well as Jaguar sedans, and a few others like the 929 (Sentia in Japan), and the Acura RL (KA9 model mostly). There are more people than you realize, and many of them may not know all that much about VIP but they are learning. A good amount of them would really like to get a grasp on how things are done authentically. There will always be some cavalier soles who decide to change things up with their own flavor...I think it's okay as long as those people realize they are straying from the roots of the culture.

This whole thing with you and your 9-5 and whatnot is kind of silly. Why even divulge in the first place? The reason swifty said what he did is because of what Bosozoku REALLY is. In actuality it has barely anything to do with cars. The only connection period is the Yankee style cars which sometimes accompany them on runs. Most people in the US confuse Yankee with Bosozoku. Bosozoku are bike gangs..hell, some are even moped gangs. So maybe you should learn a little more on the roots of things yourself. Just a suggestion.

Im more confused that police would go after someone for tickets in a nother state. Hell even tickets in your own state are bench warrants which NO city cares about unless they catch you doing something else. Most are forgotten or not even filed half the time. (I would know). Im throwing BS on this guy hardcore.

wow.. alot of flamers here. so much hatred. possibly becuase i speak truth? either way, i'm not offened. it's just so humorous how everybody chooses to make assumptions and completely overlook the topic of debate.

let's clear some of these assumptions since i have to enlighten everyone to be taken seriously.. first off, i wasn't too worried about tickets in alaska. i only recieved one for insurance. there are other reasons why i left alaska and avoid the authorities that aren't traffic related. in SLC i have an absurd record. i'm registered in ogden as a red flag. i don't want to say why but it has alot to do with a "street racing gang" according to ogden city police. my tickets aren't a matter of being paid, really. and i've tried to pay them, but my monthly payments were too much to deal with. my license is supposed to be suspended according to four different cities, but since it's an out of state license, it can't be revoked. also, the last time i was pulled over, no warrants popped up, so i suppose i'm in the clear. my screen name is from a long time ago. my old screen name from club4ag. i think alot of people have a misunderstanding about the term, but i have no need to defend myself. and idk who johnny tran is.

it certainly is amazing how hostile you all are. what do i have now, 15 posts? and i'm already hated by all. i found this forum thinking maybe people might have some new ideas to share. i figured i'd be able to provide some guidence and knowledge to those in need. i had no idea this place is just a board to inflate your ego.. or ask over and over and over "is this VIP?". "will you guys like me if i put this on my car?" some of you attacked me for making suggestions on floormats and swear by purchasing cheap thin fabric floormats from ebay in the interior section. holy shit. since when is throwing new ideas out there to improve driver comfort a reason to flame someone? alot of you seem like kids. something to prove. no respect of others opinions or lifestyle. but what then again what should i have expected from the very people i was reffering to earlier that dilute the VIP culture? and no, this isn't directed towards all of you. just the little children with the attitudes.

You said it yourself..15 post and your haited..you have dug a whole you now have to get out of or move on to a forum where they are in need for a VIP masia..I think that there are a lot of us here that understand and appreaciate true VIP. I have allways siad that us americans allways break things that arnt broke and want to own everything..I am not trying to own VIP ownly trying follow the rules and styling so My car will be at a level that the JDM VIP cars are at..IT does not happen overn night no matter how much money you have..things take time..You speak about us making assumptions but your the one who made the first assumption about this forum and the members. You did that not us. wow, it's been a long time... slc drifters didnt start posting on club4ag until around 2001, iirc. i remember one guy named bosozoku, but even back then, NO ONE on club4ag had a clue about vip. yes they had seen the mags from japan, but they didn't get it.

ive been around since the early days, rollin hard with moto pee pee (actually i didnt roll with him). there are a bunch of club4ag people on here, can any of them vouch for you? it'd be cooler if you could get all your buddies from club4ag to get up in here and give the crowd what they want!

Bullshit it cant be revoked. You wanna try again? If you're suspended or revoked in any state, it will show up on the national database. They can more than pull you in for it if they feel so fit. Gosh you seem so full of it sir. My advice to you. Leave this screenname, and make a new one. Get a fresh start as your attitude coming on here wasnt good from teh start.

Let us stop right there.

No hatred towards people who speak the truth. But you are the one who decided to spew out some completely unrelated and farfetched (even if it were true) story as if it were supposed to impress us and make us take your word as law, making you invincible.
Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but you fail to impress us with that.

We like cars, especially Vip styled cars, not stories about how wanted you are. Maybe you should talk to the producers of The Fast & The Furious instead. Here, we talk cars.

Don't be offended just because people don't feel your post is particularly relevant. Frankly, it isn't. The people who are here know the roots of Vip and appreciate the style for what it is. Those who don't, are learning. Those who refuse to learn eventually leave.

So, your post of information is appreciated, and any other contributions to the VipStyling community is of course welcome, but let us not get sidetracked by egos, grandeur, and "who is more O.G.?" contests.

stop the flaming. you are all wrong. i wasn't bragging whatsoever. i'm not trying to be the shit, i'm not trying to impress anyone. the whole point of this thread was to debate the corruption of the industry and how they push fads onto americans to make money and the americans follow. i've yet to meet a single person who thinks a xB (bB) is even close to VIP. i never came off as an asshole, i assure you. look at all my initial posts. just trying to help and discuss mods and most of YOU were acting like elitists. so fuck off. i'm not leaving. i'm here for the cars and community. want to ignore me, then fine. want to flame me, go for it. i didn't brag nor did i attack anyone. my background was simply to inform why i got into VIP and why it frustrates me that in a few months the same thing will happen to VIP that happened to drifting. check my old username when i first registered on club4ag: SATSUJIN. i can assure you many people will vouch for me. hell, i've even seen a few members here that i know from other forums. i assure you all i am a nice person an a potential contributing member. change your fucking attitude and stop with the constant assumptions.

Yes, I agree. I think just about everyone will agree.

This is why we have recently been dealing with new people by further drawing the line between Vip and Vip Styling - what Falken has labeled "autoluxury" to lessen confusion: Vip styling applied to non-traditional platforms.

I don't think Japanese companies have really been pushing Vip on North Americans, it just caught on because people liked it. Only the most recognizable brands like Junction Produce, Fabulous, and Garson are really being marketed much. It's inevitable for any trend to make its way to other countries, where it will be interpreted differently.

It's ironic that people freak out over some interpretations of Vip, since Japanese luxury in itself is an interpretation of European luxury that has evolved and, influenced by other Japanese styles, grown into its own sub-culture, defined by certain unique combinations of qualities.

Please relax and don't take everything as an attack on your very soul.

trust me, i want to relax. everyone just needs to understand that i'm not proud. i'm certainy not bragging. and since when is having a horrible driving record something that makes you cool? everyone is percieving my words in the most negative possible mindset. i haven't been involved in a flamewar (let alone been the centerpiece) in the longest time. and even then, they have all been misinterpretations of comments taken offensively. i'm a daily elite member of benzworld and no one there starts attacking people. everyone is very civilized. but the fact is, i'm more of a VIP enthusiast than a Mercedes enthusiast. so i was happy to find this board. it's just pissing me off now that the only WARM welcome i recieved as a "n00b" was from all the fucking flaming. can we at least come to an understanding that i'm not claiming to be better than anyone? i'd just really like to hear what others feel about the turn in the industry in regard to VIP..

BOSOZOKU, I wasn't trying to cause a "who's the man" battle. I even stated it in my first post in this thread. I was trying to let you know that you weren't alone in some of your thinking. Another member decided to take it upon himself to delve into what I posted and reinterpret it. I'd say from now on don't ever bring up your driving history unless there is a track involved in it. That'll keep you "safe" from criticism..haha.

What Firelizard is telling you is quite accurate. He continues to gain respect from me on a daily basis. He may be a younger gent, and not even owning a vip car, but he has tact and he's respectful. He doesn't pretend to be something he's not and is really just being himself. I think a lot of new members who may be in a similar car situation as him should take notes.

To get back on topic,
VIP is something I love, passionately. I love the culture, I love the style, I love the attitude the cars give off themselves when done right. I respect the originators, I respect the manufacturers, and I respect those who take it to the next level. That last one though doesn't mean doing something ridiculous..it means doing something that makes me think..damn, now THAT was a good idea. Now..on the other hand. You will have guys who just see VIP cars and go damn that's hot, I want one...not having a care in the world what is involved or having the courtesy to learn the history...what can we do. Most people in the US will fall into that category (at least from what I've seen)..but a portion of those will convert after they start to learn by chance. Then they'll start to share that same love and respect. We can't convert everyone, but we can try to help them get on the right path.

what pissed me off about everyones comments were the accusations that i'm lying and the horrible misconception that i'm trying to brag about myself, my car, and my lifestyle. nothing i said was even close to being fabricated nor exxagerated. i'm not the god of VIP and i have no desire to be. my car is only lightly tuned in it's current state. it's not anything special by means of modifications, but more so because of the factory options and trim level. i'm just here for the cars. and to sum upall my thoughts into one:

doing modifications similar to VIP fashion with any random platform is not the slightest bit different from doing the same thing as you would in spo-com/jdm fashion. it's just relabeling it as "VIP". the car itself is what depicts the fashion. so why continue obsessing over what is or is not VIP on this board? why not just modify YOUR car for YOUR tastes without influence? all i was trying to point out is that 90% of the members here are influenced and we will never make progress toward new innovations without thinking for ourselves. this is just another case of digging up something old and presenting it to a new generation as something new because we are too lazy to press onward towards no ideas.

OK...

Bosozoku = a bike gang (or style, however you see it)

Bosozoku (the member) drives an old-school merc, thinks that people are calling him out as Euro and non-VIP when no one did....

I'd lock this thread down for being OT, but there's really not a point being spoken (or fought for), so there really isn't anything OT, so I can't lock it down either...

What a predicament.

I got into the VIP scene around 99 when we first started playing Tokyo Extreme Racer, which was a Shutoku Battle style racing game on dreamcast. I was fascinated by the big body cars in the game, and wanted to know more about them. Thats when I turned to the internet for research and came into the scene. I have read lots of things about its origin, but some things seem to stay the same between websites.

BIG LOW OFF SET WHEELS
LOW TO THE GROUND
BIG KITS
EXPENSIVE LUXURY CARS
YAKUZA

I try to keep to that in mind. Have a VIP platform, Low and wide, with a big kit.

Remove the Yakuza from that and it's more accurate.

If you want to pretend you're a Yakuza, cover yourself in tattoos, and buy an S-class or two, or three, with chauffeurs.

BIG LOW OFF SET WHEELS
LOW TO THE GROUND
BIG KITS
EXPENSIVE LUXURY CARS
YAKUZA

I try to keep to that in mind. Have a VIP platform, Low and wide, with a big kit.[/QUOTE]

Remove the Yakuza from that and it's more accurate.

If you want to pretend you're a Yakuza, cover yourself in tattoos, and buy an S-class or two, or three, with chauffeurs.

oh, I wasnt sayin you gotta be a Yakuza...its just that VIP styling has ties to the Japanese Mafia. Now, what we could do is be like the Japanese with the low rider culture and get all dressed up as well.

THis is not how a chola dresses..a true chola would be dressed like one of the boyz...baggy pants creased pants..white shirt...jersey

That brings me to another thing I noticed .. where are the creases in the pants and shirts.??? These would be the little things that would cost them the show.

Only sluts dress like sluts!

the reason this thread seems to have no topic is because no one except the first to posters even discussed the topic! the rest of you just attacked me thinking i'm trying to act gangster or some shit. the original topic obviously wasn't discussed because too many of you probably took offense to it because you feel guilty of being the subject of the topic. but it's cool. i think i understand what all this american VIP stuff is all about now.. all of the people talking shit on me have pretty much proved my point. and in all honesty, i had no idea you guys thought i was lying about my past until much later in the thread. i didn't know you have to put in refferences to register on this forum. had no idea i'd have to show proof of everything i say. like i said. too many of you just percieve everything i say in the most negative form. it's a shame how so many kids act like badasses on the internet because you feel safe behind a computer screen. and i know for a fact if we happened to meet at a gas station or some shit and talk about cars, it would be a whole different attitude. would probably be freinds. and if most of you talked to me in person like you do on this forum, you'd get pretty fucked up and so would your car. so please try to act mature. drop the attitude and if you've got a fucking problem, then PM me. other members who use the search function will never be able to find any info if all the threads are flamewars.

take out every irrelevant thing from your first post (like your life story) and see what you have.

yeah, it's a life style. BUT, are you yakuza? no. you are just some guy, who drives an old benz.

you can't afford to pay your tickets? does that mean you don't have a job either? or you are just too lazy, and the tickets were 'too much to deal with'.

Honestly, no one really cares for the yakuza factor with the vip styling nowadays, because i'm pretty sure that anyone who was a ganster that drove a 'vip' car, was johnny tran, and he got busted and is going to the federal penitentiary for CC fraud.

so yeah, so much for that. it's a trend. it has SOME roots with the yakuza, but i don't think that anybody who fixes up their car bippu nowadays is really a gangster.

also, you contradicted yourself with your posting, so this thread went off topic because of your own posts.

if you want to start a fight with your 'if you've got a fucking problem PM me' big man attitude, you can just leave. we're not the type to start a fight just because we drive vip cars associated with the yakuza.

if you want to be 'mature' and accept that the STYLE has changed over the years, and it really is a TREND for ANY car (original platform or not) that's fine. we accept people who style their cars 'properly'. this is a very strict forum, based on sole styling from authentic companies who are bippu or associated with that trend, of dressing up luxurious cars.

if you want to be mature, pay off your tickets, get a job that's legitimate, not dealing drugs, or apparently stealing cars (derived from 'street racing gang') and hustling, and start having money to legitimately fix your car VIP, then do it. it's all good.

honestly, it doesn't really matter where it came from, it just matters where it's going. hopefully it doesn't get washed out with the crap that we are probably going to see with what happens with every trend in good ole america.

dude. i never said i am yakuza. if i was, i probably wouldn't be interested in this forum nor would i speak a whole lot of english. and yes, i am just some guy who drives a benz just as you are some guy who drives whatever you drive.

do you have thousands of dollars to pay for shit on your own? no, you probably have parents. they probably have helped or even bought the car you drive now.

again, this has it's roots from yakuza, and goes even further to japanese taking ideas from european cars. yakuza isn't a debate in this topic. it's the cars, which no one seems to care about here. no one has mentioned anything about cars in this thread.

again. your a dipshit. no one said anything about having to be a gangster to do VIP. and it's not a trend. it's a trend to you because you just found out about it. but people have been doing amazing VIP saloons for decades.

i didn't contradict anything. everyone assumed i'm trying to show off. few of you even noticed the topic.

re read the whole thread, dipshit. i never had an attitude. everyone was harassing me and pissed me off. i was the last person to get an attitude.

the style hasn't changed at all. americans just started finding out about it and changed it by being ghetto and using shit cars.

if you want to be mature then stop making assumptions and attacking me.

and it is being ruined as we speak. look around. early 90's people were having fun with the new hondas. making them clean and fast. now look at them. fast and furious gets everyone wanting one. then you see a bunch of ricers ruining them all with cheap shit. that is what i don't want to happen to VIP. i've already seen it here. look in the photo gallery! for god sake. there's maybe on good VIP car per page out of 7 pages on the sticky topic.

this forum is never ending in debates about what vip is, what it was, and what it will be. people all have different ideas on what it's going to be like, people all have different perspectives. if you don't like what these people think, well, you can't really change it. we all have our own views. this is what i have learned, ever since coming onto this forum, and buying a fusa for my old ls400 and thinking i was vip. i have learned a lot since then. take your car, fix it up, and show it off. that's the main point of this forum.

this has turned out a pissing contest after the second post in this thread. after that, it went to shit. you got heated, and i felt the need to call you on your posting. start this over then.

how do you really feel about vip style, and yes, it is a trend. it may be a 'life style' but in that sense, it's trendy too.

go ahead, have a re-do.

let's just leave it at that. i offered my opinions to everyone, and i got yours. that's all i asked for. it's a shame it took two pages of people talking about me to finally get someone elses opinion. i'm done. i'd rather be discussing mods. it's just really hard not to get pissed and say something about all this being percieved as a new style. as someone else said previously about that video game. that's what spiked interest to a few good people. i remeber being addicted to that game, tokyo extreme racer. hell, you might even call it the inspiration for the benz. i'd say my style is sleeper, wanagan speed battle, and VIP. when i first played that game, i knew all about VIP. that's why i liked it. all the obscure large japanese saloons as apposed to just the sports cars in gran turismo. i guess what i'd like to see more of is mods as apposed to everyone trying to verify if something is VIP or not so they can buy it for thier car just to get everyone's approval.

that's another problem, with people asking if this or that is vip.

vip is the new jdm. it's how trends go, for some, drifting is jdm. for others it's vip. for others, its still honda. lol

anyways. yeah, more people just doing up their cars and showing them off is what we would all like to see.
