Blowjax air cylinders?
'Search' is comin up with nothin...Anyone use these?
Description:
Quality 80mm (left image) and 100mm (right image) air cylinders (rods) are used on Hondas, Lexus, Mitsubishi and other small vehicles where there is a upper and lower control arm coil over arrangement. These allow for wheel tucks and offer around 165mm of travel at the wheel in most applications. Sold per axle, the Blowjax air cylinders now come with adjustable shock absorbers.

the adjustable-ness is whats drawing me to these for more info

adjustable means you can manually control the orifice size of the air's exit "port" since the cylinder must displace air from the environmentally open chamber to fill the closed one.
cylinders are dead to the modern air world. they really only allow for one advantage over the air strut, and that's the ability to dog-leg.
if you feel the need to use a cylinder b/c you are convinced it is cheaper per axle (which usually isn't), then go with your standard cylinder, and add bladder accumulators to the system. these accumulators are commonly used in hydrolic setups. dampening is set in relation to the psi of charged nitrogen.

so would that control the deflation speed?
Im asking because I found a set that someone had blowjax build for an SC400.
I previously had no intentions of putting any of my SC's on Air...but the price is right

correct.
if you've read into what i wrote above you've also realized that as the gas (air) in the sealed chamber compresses with suspension load, the "dampening control" will also affect the rate at which air enters/exits the environmentally open chamber, resulting in what they consider "adjustable suspension dampening."
we are talking numbers, versus rider experience.

hey not for nothing but im new to the site...and i used to have a honda with air cylinders. that was in 1999 and bloxjax sucked back then. other then that i would find out how long the person was using that system for..after a period of time my cylinders would stick..i would deflate and it would stay up and then all of a sudden slam down. and the ride was horrible just on cylinders but if they have the kit with the shock then go for it..you get what you pay for.!!good luck

I have heard all bad thing about blowjax cylinders how they give out and stuff. I'm currently running SMC front cylinder and canover rear on mine right now. I've been running the SMC for yrs now. cylinder do give out over time they will leak because of the O ring. But they do offer rebuilt kits for them.Cylinders ride good depending on how you adjust them and how many psi you are running. I recommend SMC or Parker cylinder.

well after giving it sum thought and looking at the build quality of other parts on the market...Ive decided that I'll pick this system up later tonight or in the morning.

running cylinders on my LS and the ride pretty much sucks except if you get the right PSI, bags are better

You should be running accumulators with these for a perfect ride
The full billet blocks kick ass and I can always switch to bags...
I'm jus not sure I'd want bags compressing the shocks on my JIC's more than they are designed to go

i had blow jax on my integra ,only lasted two months and had many problems, this was when they first came out, so hopefully the design has improved some. i did lay flat out but, the crappy ride really wasnt to ideal for a daily driver for sure.

heard more negative stories about cylinders than good...
been on bag'd JICs for about 3 yrs.. excellent ride and adjustable.. no complaints..
like you said.. you could always upgrade to bag'd jics later..
my opinion, if you paid 600 bucks for the complete set.. lines, controller, valves, tank, compressor, etc... i'd say you got a good deal... since you'll be wanting to upgrade to bags later.. lol..

j/k.. hope the blow jax works out..

Air Cylinders Suck!!! Mine Rode Like Ish. I Always Felt Like My Car Was Gonna Flip Over Everytime I Turned. Always Bottoming And Topping Out On The Smallest Dips And Thats When The Cylinder Is At The Mid Point, Where The Ride Hieght Should Be To Avoid That. It Only Lasted Me 2 Months Then I Sold Them. When They Say "intended For Show Purpose Only" Thats Exactly What They Are For. Daily Driver? I Dont Think So. This Was Back In 2000. it was actually the EAI stuff, same thing

yeah, its a complete setup: everything was still labled or/and pre-wired....even the hoses :p I traded sum old stereo stuff that I had, so it really didnt cost me anything.
seems to me like id have to buy extra crap just to get it to ride nice...like bags.
I'll go ahead and order the other stuff, since im not really 'into' the setup that much.

 how was it hooked up? just straight cylinders with no accumulators?
I researched and noticed that people were running the cylinders without them. Even people running canover really didnt use them. I think its one of those things they fail to tell people when purchasing their systems.

1000cc accumulator
I rode in an acura TL day before yesterday that had cylinders with accumulators and it was very nice. He has a friend thats on straight cylinders...hopefully I can catch a ride in his car soon.
