Are those dead stock tires found in a military bunker somewhere? Haha, they've been out of production for a while now! I used to run GR-B's, good tire liked the ST115's too, but the 452's are what I run now..and occasionally 615's. I'm running a combo of those now. 615's in front and 452's in rear.

That looks like the average stretch in Hawaii...we're silly like that.

Sometimes this stretch tire thing gets out of hand. There's a point were stretching goes over the bounds of functionality. Wasn't a main point of stretching a tire was the ability to run a wider wheel and still fit the tire under the fender? There's a point where stretching that much is borderline ridiculous....and possibly not safe. I equate it to the big wheel syndrome with the SUV’s….there’s a point where you say, why do I need a 30” wheel???? Just my thoughts….but I’d rather run a functional stretch…and still not worry about popping a bead…..guess I’m getting old worrying about safety….

i agree 100% with actolex.

i think that when you are detailing your car, and you have to clean the INSIDE of your wheel... not the inside lip, but where the tire is supposta be, lol)

then its a little too much:

i guess you could line it up, where your fender sits in between the lip of the wheel, and the tire, so when it tuck, you dont see any tire at all.

Yeah This just looks ugly..IF your going to go this extreme at least clean the inside barrels..could you imagine not winning in a show because your barrels were dirty:confused:

This looks like an accident waiting to happen..

I think on a stech the tire and the wheel should come in contact but when the tire does not even make it to the outer parts of the wheel???silly

As Actolex and Pimpala expressed, I also agree. Stretching a tire for no reason is ridiculous. When we do it, it's for clearance issues in order to get the stance to look right when we do it. Whether it be to split the fender (wheel on outside, tire on inside), or to have just enough poke and be able to daily it without rubbing issues. I've seen some of you stretch the tire on wheels that were well within the fender..to me, that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I mean why? We don't do it just to do it...

I will stetch for two reasons Looks and Function but more for looks..I am not running my car on a track, I dont have air so I will not be needing to set my fenders between my wheel barels and tires. YOu guys talk about functionality of it all..most VIP cars are very unfunctional cars in all aspects..curtains,50 cupholders, crazy camber etc..its all about the looks to a certain degree..I wanted coilovers so when rolling around low I had some stiffer suspension so I dont bottom out..thats functional but any amount of stretching a tires is not..you will start upping your risks in blow outs..popped beeds etc...So like I sais its all about the looks..call me names if you will..sticks and stones..sticks and stones..

Really what is the function if having your car lay frame on the ground???its only for pictures and eye candy..these same cars dont roll with there fenders between there tires and wheels its allo for loooooookkkkksssss

I stretched same size tire on my 11s when I had the scion and they were very functional sure I did have blowouts but hey its part of the game I guess. I just loved the fact that I could drive the car 0.5" over my lips, and everywhere I parked it people where asking why they tires are so tight  and that's what I loved about it, and no it was not my daily driver and I had no intension to take 70MPH turn.

Personally I care about safety, that's why you will never see crazy stretch or crazy wide wheels on my 240 which I built to be abused. But the sad thing now days with 240 crowds they are all about lips and stretching tires, sure it looks cool and all but it can not be functional to run 30lb wheel on what they call Drift machine. VIP cars are different. I think if someone is spending $6k they know the game plan unless they are balers. But you are right, stretching tires, mega cambers, etc. they are all about look, and it’s a look to set us apart from the rest of the older folks who are driving the same cars, and I guess that was the game plan from the start, just to show off as a Important Person

Anyway, the wheels you see are for a SHOWCAR!

Your friends do it..that's nice. I do it..who cares, other people do it too..haha. I don't understand your post? I was the one who mounted many of them personally. Whether it be on 86's or VIP cars (like Dan and Aaron's LS's). Why is this so hard to believe? I've worked at how many shops now (NextLevel, Hypersports, Atomics)? You think I never mounted any tires? Hahahahaha....stop. Trying to argue with me about this is futile and trying to be the stretch mastah! is plain idiotic. That looks pretty good...more to the edge of what I'd personally do on my own cars. The cars I did crazier than that were not mine and I expressed to the owners that they would have issues eventually. Like Aaron had happen a few times, but he knew it would. But his were stretched that way to make his stance possible. I only stretch it as far as I need too, to make the fitment work how I want it too. On my last car it wasn't very extreme. I ran 225 on 9's and 245 on 10.5's (RT615's, so my size choices were limited), but it was all I needed to make the stance right and daily-able.

let's not have a flame war over this stretch BS. this is just like the last camber thread i posted to. it's not a contest of who has the most camber, stretch, or poke. it's a matter of altering suspension components to achieve optimal fitment with close clearances. i rock a little bit of camber, but only to clear my fenders. stretch? ehh.. i've done it before, but it's rather foolish if you don't need the extra clearance. giving yourself a smaller footprint just isn't very "cool" if you guys like it from an asthetic perspective. on large wheels with a low car, if i didn't know any better i'd just assume you were too broke to buy properly sized tires for your expensive wheels.

BOSOZOKU;63099 wrote:let's not have a flame war over this stretch BS. this is just like the last camber thread i posted to. it's not a contest of who has the most camber, stretch, or poke. it's a matter of altering suspension components to achieve optimal fitment with close clearances. i rock a little bit of camber, but only to clear my fenders. stretch? ehh.. i've done it before, but it's rather foolish if you don't need the extra clearance. giving yourself a smaller footprint just isn't very "cool" if you guys like it from an asthetic perspective. on large wheels with a low car, if i didn't know any better i'd just assume you were too broke to buy properly sized tires for your expensive wheels.

I still want to hear about the other stretch thats lower then average. :p

We were talking about stretching tires...correct? They were the "stretchee". So maybe I should have said I mounted them and that they had it mounted on their wheels. I + they = we. Simple math. Not to mention the numerous drift cars (like 195 on 10's) that I did wheel/tire fitment for...who were stretched more most times than the majority of VIP cars. I stated "we" since they were their wheels, not mine. I only stretch as much as I need to..as I stated..so you can stop your smartassery now. BTW, cheerleaders don't mount tires... Give me a break

I have to agree with actolex...its at the point where "my tire is more stretched than yours...top that" it looks like "oops I ordered the wrong tire size stretched look" but if that's what you were going for congrats on acheiving the ultimate stretch...

WOW!!

First, you have no idea about the project these are going on so please don't judge if the clearance is required or not, or the stretch is Dom.

Second, I just don't see where I have compared them to anyone else’s, it was something I was proud of personally and wanted to share it with some of the people who are following my projects, and know about our company !!

Exactly, we have no idea which is why people are saying what they are. You can't blame them for saying those things..it's not normal to most people on here, so they assume you did it for the hell of it since there was no metion of a car that it was going on. You really can't blame them.

I personally mentioned that it wasn't that crazy which supported you. Letting these people know that it's not that odd and that we did it for a reason so you must have too. Yet everyone loves to read into things like your business partner decided to do. There was no foul play involved in my original post:
That looks like the average stretch in Hawaii...we're silly like that.

That states..we do that in Hawaii and many people think we're crazy, even my milder 245 on 10.5's. We meaning Hawaii (so Robert understands). He (Robert) took it upon himself to raise the temperature of the thread along with XK (who apparently failed to notice any of the Night Garage car fitments or decided he had to back up you guys since he buys stuff from you..just being honest). Notice I didn't even really respond to your initial retort since I knew it would make things out of hand and it was your thread. Other members brought up all the questions and I merely pointed out that I agreed with some of them...but not pointing fingers at you:
As Actolex and Pimpala expressed, I also agree. Stretching a tire for no reason is ridiculous. When we do it, it's for clearance issues in order to get the stance to look right when we do it. Whether it be to split the fender (wheel on outside, tire on inside), or to have just enough poke and be able to daily it without rubbing issues. I've seen some of you stretch the tire on wheels that were well within the fender..to me, that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I mean why? We don't do it just to do it...

Not once did I mention your wheels/tires. I just stated it to help drill in the point that some newer members might unsafely stretch tires for no reason because they see us doing it. So you and you peeps can see there was no ill-intent. I personally have no problems with you. You've never been cruel to me, that I can remember, and I respect you for that. Sorry to veer off topic a bit, but I wanted to clear the air, not just for myself but for other members who posted similar responses.

I hope your project turns out well. Keep us informed..not in the dark. *wink*

Dude,
What's up with WE again, if you have posted in the same topic as other people, it doesn't mean you are saying the same thing. If THEY are saying the tires look stupid or I bought the wrong size tires, that's okay I assume they are still growing up in the world of craziness or just don't like what they see, everyone got their own opinion.

But YOU stated yourself as the stretch expert and a person who stretches tires for residence of HI, so please don't mix yourself with others here. For your future please don't judge people before you know the detail, it’s not about what you read on the forums, it's about what you know about them.

By the way, WE in CA stretch 235/40 on 10.5" on most of lower power drift cars and no one think of as WOW. :judge:

I take back what I said in reference to you. You guys seem to have a problem with the word "we". Haha...why is that? I said I agreed with two other people about tire stretching in general (not your set-up, again I have to say this)...there for WE all shared the same opinion. Why is this so difficult??
I'm not the "stretch expert", you guys just seem to want to label me for reasons unbeknown to me. So I guess Actolex and Pimpala are too.
[sarcasm]Cool, we can form a club! [/sarcasm]
Me being the guy doing the measuring and the stretching and not just the guy buying the wheels and tires will tell you I "know about them" since it was my job to do custom fitments, not just internet talk. This isn't a pissing contest with me...I could care less what you do or how you do it. I've been in the business for over 10 years. But remember, if you post something online don't expect people not to say anything or not to agree with you. End of story, I'm finished with this thread (it's just silly now)..so just leave me out of your discussion. Thank you...
