what do you guys remember during your time in pinas? balut, spider fighting, etc...
I went last year for the first time since being born there and moving stateside in over 25 years. I had a blast out there.
dude do you remember the fish ball?
drinking soda from a sandwich plastic bag :), but that was in the 80's. i guess they did that so they can put away the glass bottles right away, so they wont get lost or break and they can get their deposit back when they return them.
I remember ShoeMart, Jeepney's, TriCycles, Diesel smoke, Grilled Corn on the Cob, showering under a hand pump, waking up to a Rooster, and yes Soda in a plastic bag!!!
In relation to cars, how about the races and cruising in Greenhills? The Lancers (box type), Galant, Corolla liftbacks with the 2TG setup, the Celeste, Dodge Colts,... The sweet sounds of the dual carbs!
"TA-HO!!!" haha . 1L glass bottle of coke. Royal Orange soda. Showering using a bucket. Christmas and new years is the best. Always loved the super lolos or five stars. I haven't been there for 2 years now but my cousin told me now that the street vendors serve ice cream on a bun.
the TAHO guy kept coming to the house we rented EVERY morning knowing that my family and I would always be happy to see him haha I loved the vendors that would wander around with stuff. My cousins also had the motorized tricycles that they would carry people. It was fun to just tear around town with that thing. I have no idea how people would be able to drive around a highly modified car with all the buses, Jeepneys, tricycles, scooters, and people just all over the streets

Three car lanes=Five to Six car lanes in the P.I. Not to mention how BS it is for the President to get by traffic with ease. Her own escort. Traffic stops for her. :p Now, they have certain days when cars with certain license plate can only travel on specific days since there is so much congestion already.
oh i know man the damm new year...its like war dude "sawa"...and yes they still have plastic for the soda:smiley: mango on bagoong!!!
The Food Lapo Lapo eat like a king for cheap.
SM is HUGE now (of course not as big as MegaMall). There's a big one near our house in Matina (Davao City). I sware half the money I spend on each visit is there. And got to have some waffle dogs everytime I'm at SM..hahaha. Fish balls rule, first time I had them was when visiting a friends parents house in Baclaran. Walking down the street after the trike could go no further (we started in a taxi, then a Jeepney, then the trike as street got smaller..haha) and there was a dude with a cart selling them. That and lots of Mirinda orange soda. There is a small store directly across the street from our house that is very convenient when I want some Red Horse. And since we live across the street they don't mind me taking the bottles. I would usually get those milk crate like things of it anyhow. Hmm..when's my next visit...I miss Davao.
how about new wave music during the 80's, anyone dig it?
hilig ko ang 80's new wave. i played patintero, patumbain ang lata, chinese garter....LOL man, the good ol' days sa pinas.

We can do that down here but it isn't the same :( Also the sound of tricycles when you wake up in the morning and the smell of the gutter.. nasty i know but in the pi it's sooo right!
new wave rules! haha...i like those songs. Did you guys ever play the "TOP" game..where you have this wooden ball/pear shaped with a nail on the bottom, and you spin with the string and while its spinning....the other player tries to knock it out.??? Remember that? Also, marble games...yes, those were nice! "holen"
dam, i havn't been to the PI in a while.. I think it was like 22yrs ago.. Will go back tho soon.. But orange soda in a plastic bag is a + and the hand built pump to take showers outside is another +! Anyone got recent shot's of the lifestyle out there?
Ice candy Taho Fish balls Mango on a stick soaking in water *lol* Juice being scooped up with a ladle Santol with bagoong Minute burger joints in every corner Hush puppies *basically crushed ice with syrup* Going to the cemetery with the whole family to visit dead relatives and turning it into a party! lol Hanging from the back of the Jeepney when its full, so when you get wood the passengers get the first shots of your dinga ling! hahaha Seeing Vanilla Ice in concert in Araneta performing Ice Ice baby !!! wooot! Making guns out of wood and playing soldiers making "bang bang your dead" sound. PI is so westernized now it doesnt feel the same, but it still has its own Filipino flair to it. VSC trip to Pi soon?
dirty ice cream...yum!!
when I went to PI I had to take cold ass showers or boil some water and mix it so itll be warm haha. I hate it when its hella hot and you take a shower to feel clean, then as soon as you step out of the shower you start sweating your ass off again. oh yea and buying bootleg vcd, dreamcast, and ps1 games at the mall. hoooooked up!
new wave rules! haha...i like those songs.
Yeah man PI got me into listening to new wave when i went there years ago. Haha.
Love the 80's new wave: Fra Lippo Lippi Depeche Mode INXS The Cure U2 OMD Information Society Men At Work Duran Duran I played their songs at a Jukebox for just 75 centavos. Anyone remember the group Menudo??? Robby Rosa haircut was the style back then. LOL
dont remember much cuz i was too young but back in 86 i remember that bubble shit you stuck on the end of that short straw and blew into it and you got that bubble thing, then you'd pinch is to give it some design... i heard that shit is hazardous to your health. i remember for a party my uncle brought home a big ass fucking pig, shot an arrow through its neck, caught all the blood in a pot, shaved it, stuck a 15ft pole in its ass, and out its mouth and cooked dat chit man... god i wish i could go back to those days. jumping to i think 2004, the last time i was there, i remember burning your garbage on the side of the road, those pink stalls on the side of the road like every mile or so, so you can pull over and piss or shit when you have to. turning a 4 lane road into a 10 lane highway-that was the shit... honking whenever you merge into another lane and nobody gets mad... my dad would drive on the sidewalk and no one cared. oh yeah, walking around it a folded rag/wet rag over your mouth and nose so you dont smell the exhaust fumes. again cold ass showers with a 5gal bucket and a 1/2 gal cup. 2 hot ass chicks holding hands, not cuz their gay just cuz, knowing i cant talk to them cuz i dont speak the language. and on sundays all the SM's are packed, mostly with girls cuz sondays is when the home owners give the maid a day off... my dad had a young maid, she didnt look that good, 1000 pesos and probably woudlve gotten some.... hahaha
what i can remeber is being young and everything was so cheap. all the candy the soda in the sandwish bags and the straw. waking up with morning hair, sando and basketball shorts walk down the street and buying fresh pandisal. damn those days where great.
Trumpo, no hot water, Tabo, BBQ sa kanto with alikabok, Holen, Sarangola and Tumbang preso ahahahahhaa.. I cant wait to go back home..
i wasnt born there but i visited once back in 1994. i remember the scary stories they told me aswang, white lady, homeboy with no head, little people, lil ppl houses being stepped on, ghosts. etc... yall know what i mean.LOL. who here still believes in those or ecountered one?
ive encountered living in a townhouse with a poltergeist.. effin scariest three weeks of my life! it was in valle verde5 in pasig!
man i remember sodas in a bag, tricycles, and jeepneys. taking cold showers with a bucket. has anyone been to mall of asia? man that pizza hut in there is all fancy. lol plus that mall is huge!!! i thought mega mall was big. werent the lil people like gnomes? you had to ask permission to walk somewhere or you might step on there house(hill) and get bad luck or something.
^^^there called dwende's
playing basketball with chinelas! (beachwalks?) i remember when i went back when i was 13 i played a pick-up game with my new air jordans on. got out balled and the kids asked my cousin to tell me to wear chinelas cuz it hurt when i landed on their exposed feet.
never even went to PI yet, but my son went before me with my in-laws.
[/IMG]how about sabong!! heheheheh or this stuff..taguan when there is no power or electric at night...also...eating pandesal then put cheese whiz on it then dip it to hot milo!! how about that! this is the philippines VIP![IMG]http://www.vipstylecars.com/forums/[/IMG]

green hills, club citris, the tree bar, metro walk, embassy, japur...intercontinental hotel and chicks that ask for money after sex and say its the filipino way..going there on the 27th, anyone need pirated software
I just got back like 2 weeks ago. Stayed there for about 12 days.... when I landed, I realized how much I didn't miss that place... I wanted to go home so bad... but I stuck it out... but that aswang shit, man..... I girlfriend translated everything for me cuz I don't understand or speak, hasn't clicked yet but she translated my little cousins talking about that shit... her aunty told her about that shit before we left, and while we were there my mom asked our taxi driver about it, that shit aint no joke. They said at night the bodies of the aswang separate into 2 and the upper half flies around and sucks peoples blood. Little people run around and walk on the roof tops waiting for u to sleep then come down to suck your blood. Scary shit when you have a brown out in the middle of the night. To me, nothing really changed, seen some dope ass chick there though. Did the whole tourist thing for my girlfriend cuz she hasn't been back since she was 3... Lucky a few years ago when my parents and brothers went back, they bought a pajero. So when I was there we had a suv with more room and a/c... Im not due to go back till at least 3-4 years.... Oh yeah they got the mall of asia. Supposed to be the biggest mall in the world right now... thing was fucking big... everyone goes to the malls cuz its hot outside and the malls got a/c. Greenhills, green belt, went to damn near all the SM's in and around manila...
haha the comedy bars with all the baklas that sing better than real chicks. and then on new years its like a freakin civil war with all the fireworks. =) Taking a sh*t while hovering the toilet cuz theres no seats, not even in SM, and then hoping a giant ipis doesn't crawl up your leg!!!! and then buying everything at dibisoria (sp) in every color you want. and the fully chromed jeeps, gangstas with like 15 non functional antennas. and the smell of gas and brown rivers. home sweet home.
I was there a few weeks ago and want to go back!!! I feel ya on those toilet situations though!:pat:
hahaha, every drama tv show, movie etc etc has a bakla in it.
fresh pandesal in the mornz is the shitz:thumbsup:

Valle Verde 1. i didn't grow up there, my family moved here when i was 2 so i don't remember the location much. i do know we had another complex that was on a street named after my Lolo. i do go back and visit every chance i get, but i haven't had any chances for a few years.
I'm from Ilocos Norte as probably most of the Hawaii people are. Ilocano is the spoken language in Hawaii and when I went to the homeland a couple years ago, I couldn't even communicate. But when I went to Ilocos, I felt more at home. I loved the warm pandesal and the fresh balut. Yes, I eat balut. hahahaha And VI IX, I didn't know your were pinoy brotha. Next time you in vegas or if I make it to next years autofashion meet, we should go and get some fiilipino breakfast. hahaha
