its a sick car but why do the panels differ so much in color. like the stock panels, top half of door, quarter panels, dont match to the paint work from the kit sorry... but i still love the car tho

The brilliant silver was a PIA to match...they came close, but not exact even after 5 color mixes. There are 8 variants to brilliant silver so you can imagine the matching process. It could be lower.....so why doesn't someone land me an air sponsorship.... Car will prob be parted soon so air is not in the cards, as of now.

Thanks all..... Yes, the car has been around and it's met it's marketing goals. It's debut was a few years back in Vegas, was in 3 US magazines and 3 Japanese magazines, and even won Global Tuning Awards for best Infiniti (even though some didn't agree..). I've heard everything from "it's not low enough....not aggressive enough....not whatever.....but hopefully was an example of a VIP platform back in the infancy of VIP in the US.
There are always haters who are jealous. Mark, your CARS are great. Congrats on the Global Tuning Award. :thumbsup: Definitely VIP in my book.

I think you're seeing the differences in angles of the various body panels- note that the sun is low in the sky in the background. I get the same effect on my car at times; at certain angles the fenders almost look darker than the doors- this is due to the different 'plane' of the fenders relative to the flat portions of the doors (my car was completely painted, all parts at the same time). Also, the two-tone paint is almost invisible in certain lighting conditions, and very obvious in others. Great looking whip, Mark!

People are expecting to get "sponsorships" to fix up their cars, and in so many cases, they're only running certain parts if they get it free/discounted, or in *most* cases, they're only running certain parts BECAUSE they got it free/discounted. Yet another reason the jap import market will never get any real respect from real car enthusiasts. No need to get on your soapbox with your usual non-constructive criticism. I've been in the sponsorship game, on both sides, for many years. The days of fixing my car up for myself are long gone. Now, it's about marketing and networking with companies that want to use my experience and track record to help promote their products. Looking at what we've brought to the market, I really don't see any "cheap" parts on the car. It seems no matter what my car looks like or has on it, you just hate.....which is cool because your opinion means less than nothing to me and to be honest, brings me a little humor in my busy day. Like I said before, the car has brought my sponsors a lot of press and advertising bang for their buck with all the magazine, video, and TV exposure. I'm sorry if you don't approve, but that's your problem. All I’ve tried to do is bring the manufacturers together with the consumers and gain a little exposure on this thing we call VIP style. I had to laugh when I realized you thought I was referring specifically to you in my anecdotes about the sponsored parts like the wheels and stereo etc., but then I guess I can see why you thought that, cuz you were able to-in your mind-manipulate my words to apply towards yourself... interesting. Anyway, I was referring generally mostly to the "new" kids on the block in this game: the Scion crowd. A lot of them are new enthusiasts, having never been into cars at all, and they get involved in the game, and are inundated with all these other "industry" people whose mentality is as I described... only worried about sponsoships and having as much random crap on their car as possible... as long as it's sponsored crap. They don't even care what the crap is.... as long as it's sponsored. So what eventually happens IN THE LONG RUN? You get people who grow disillusioned with the whole thing and no longer are enthusiasts. And you get companies who make some money, but for how long...remember I'm talking LONG RUN here. Not 1 year, not 5 years, not even 10 years. I'm talking lifelong enthusiasm that could potentially result in lifelong source of revenue. Of course, lots of people don't see it that way... quick buck is the way to go. As for what I've done in the game... did you notice that the US is, after over a decade and a half of import madness, finally catching on to even the simple concept accepted the world over as stance and wheel fitment? Did people in the US even know what offset was 5 years ago? You can credit two major facets of the industry for bringing that awareness forward here: Scions and 240s. I've been in media beyond the usual Super Street or SCC or any one of those mags where any one us on these boards who've been around this industry long enough know members of the staff anyway and could just hit them up and go "hey man, put my homie's car in your mag in a couple months..thanks g." Do a search on some old wall street journal articles and knight ridder syndicated articles from even a couple years back and you'll find me...maybe...I'm a ghost. Anyway, it's interesting to see where this VIP thing is headed in the US... and where it will END...up.

I've come to not really care much about what people post on here anymore, and your posts included... but when I saw that (and I like how I only saw it cuz someone sent me a link to this thread for laughs, not cuz I wanted to look here specifically) I was just like... man, that's such a shitty attitude to have, and how many impressionable people are going to read that and think that if the god of usa vip can feel that way about his vip car, then it's ok for them to fall into that same trap like I mentioned with the Scion peeps. How many xA/xB Scions have been sold in the US since summer '03? All of them come from the factory with narrow rear tracks leading to unbalanced wheel spacing appearance. Now, how many of them do you think have my shims over those past 4 years? It's not bad for a fun biz to do on the side... it's been quite self-sufficient now. I got out of the car biz (big corp level, not aftermarket corp level) and playing with the Scion stuff on the side is my excuse for staying "connected"...
