Garson USA coming soon to Southern California

I was looking in the new issue of DUB Magazine and the first few pages were solely for Garson. It looks like there will be a Garson USA in Los Angeles. I'll keep you updated.

That was their highlight (for SEMA), that they were to be coming to the US. Hope they do well and make the right decisions.

All they gotta do is keep the price up high for the real ballers!

Or in any other case, we still have Junction Produce, Anceltion, Fabulous, etc.

9 out of 10 times that is the result of unscrupulous socal people trying to make a quick buck. But hey, that's business, and the US is all about the cheaper the better, so they've got a market here. It's just sad... that a lot of these guys whose lives revolve around making and peddling knockoffs aren't richer than they are... their whole purpose in life is to take others' ideas/designs/works and make money from it, yet they can't even make that much from it.

I dont want this to be a thread about knock offs, but demand is relevant to supply.

Of course they're never made IN the US... that defeats the purpose of cheap (labor) rates leading to cheap parts costs. Countries like Taiwan are TOTALLY capable of producing parts of stellar quality, since most of their manufacturing facilities and equipment are newer than those of other countries... yet, most companies that go to Taiwan don't request the good stuff... they want the cheapest way possible. But, in the US, a lot of these folks are from socal... not all, just most.

Now in regards to the issue of supply and demand, you figure that, yes, a supply is created to meet a demand. But in this particular case we are talking about, these folks are creating junk to supply to a demand that would just as easily pay a little more for the same part in better quality, especially since they have no other choice. For example, Part X is only avl in Japan for $2000USD, let's say. Ethics-less business person in US could make a similar (but not necessarily a straight knockoff) part of high-quality and sell it to US consumers for $1500, or he could make a straight knockoff of shit quality and sell it on this side of the pond for $1000. There's nothing stopping said shademeister to choose the former, yet most opt for the latter, and thus is born the vicious cycle of fueling the shitty masses with more shit, and others feeling like they need to make even crappier/cheaper parts to stay in the game... and who loses then? Again, the consumers and enthusiasts. Some people think it helps foster growth and business and trade and all... sure, it does... but for how long, and at what cost to the customers?

Coming from the king country of counterfeit products (Windows, DVDs, knockoff wheels, you name it, we probably make fakes of it), I can tell you right now that it's a very simple price strategy.

I tell people I make my own custom bodykit for my car which sounds really cool to the folks over in USA or Europe, when in truth, it really costs the bodyshop only 1/2 of what it would really cost me had I bought a full authentic Fabulous kit from Japan. Not that I make replica fabulous kit coz the "custom" kit that I made for my old Aristo cost me well over $3000. But that's a 12 panel bodykit. I know if I had gotten a similar 12 panel kit from JP, it would have been around $7000 shipped to Jakarta! 1/3 of that price goes to shipping and customs.

I could have told the bodyshop to make a 99% identical kit to JP for $3000, but I have more pride than that.

Honestly I wish Garson/DAD would stay in Japan.
I just feel that them now coming to the states
will be picked by the wrong hands like Rappers
and just over do it, especially on the wrong cars.

oh man it sounds good that there comming.. But it wont be like before where people want to get it becuase isome what harder to get and you cant just go into any shop to buy the item. Youll prob see it in Checker outo parts.. LOL

So i guess they are going to be packaging there product with English instructions on it now. Those that bought the product out of Japan will have use for displaying there boxes just to show people that your part was bought from Japan.

IM disapointed in a way becuase Garson is the route that i choose with my new XB and now its going to be DAMD easy to copy what i did and prob cheaper becuase people wont have to pay the killer shipping cost from Japan.. OH well its good to be a trend setter.

What you guys like paying an arm and a leg in shipping just to be different? I don't see it affecting the market at all..They wont be sold at checker or autozones..they will probably still be a custom order from an online supplier or shop in Cali..that then distributes them..Where oh where would you find a place in your town to buy this stuff...????

Maybe at an upholstery shop? or a custom car accessories shop...or What I think will happen is they will unite with a reputable shop such as unique whips, west coast customs or just open a VIP store where they could sell there products locally and online. I see it as a good thing..its what we want right to have more VIP sources in the states...Once Garson comes the others will follow and are already making there way here...For all you vendors I would really consider opening an actual VIP Salon and make the connections you need to be the first True Luxury Car t Salon Shop..most likely I see it in Southern Cali Somewheres by mission beach or downtown SD.

hey shawn the reason why it matters is because as the market gets saturated with these parts (even if it is only in word of mouth because people can't afford to buy them), there will be first off and influx of fakes (i.e. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Coach, Rolex) then the knockoffs will start, that will really drive the market to an even worse place. Eventually rolling down the street with any type of VIP accessory will be indistinguishable to the untrained eye whether you have Anceltion, Garson, or Junction Produce, or the new cheapo stuff from Anseltun, Garssun, and Jungs Productions.

I know where you'recomming from on this and oddly enough I agree but can you see the potential beyond the immediate effect? That's where our concerns lie, not with the initial surge of people that will be able to afford it. Forum image

but with the popularity of this style increasing you will see knock offs with or with out these companies here in the states. if the company is here theres probally less of a chance of copy's due to the copyright laws here in the states.

You'd think so...ain't going to happen. Copies will make thier way here, unless Garson has a US trademark, copyright and design patent, along with a notification to stop importation of fake goods. In other words, they better spend a lot of money to make that happen, meaning prices will have to increase to cover the legal expenses and the constant monitoring.

Being that Garson USA is pretty much a importer/distributor (I just blanked out on the name, but they are the guys that bring in Razo) i doubt that will happen.

In a perfect world with perfect weather and ethics and morality being the driving force of any business transaction I would agree Shawn, but unfortunately this is the world market, in our imperfect world, and regardless of patents and copyrights and little letters that do nothing more than keep a little asian secretary busy shredding papers, there will be knockoffs as long as demand and trends drive them, I mean look at all the performance parts you could trust before that were Japanese or U.S. made..... eventually because of the knockoffs even the reputable manufacturers were driven to outsource their labor and assembly to China and Taiwan in order to drive their cost down and compete with the knockoffs. I won't mention any manufacturers by name but I will say you should be suspect of a lot of them!!! Forum image

anything that begins to be officially imported to the US, gets played out by the people who didnt have the patience or diligence to get those parts directly from japan before. plain and simple, the automotive scene, and especially VIP is concerned with exclusivity. even if you see someone else with your hard to get imported parts, youll never be as annoyed as you would be seeing those same parts being used by anyone with a credit card.
