Well...mark, I think you would know this as well as anybody... Junction has never been known for the more extreme VIP styling. Perhaps that is why I have been over Junction Produce for some time... don't get me wrong, I can really appreciate that style... 

but its the cars like this that  have so much more presence...

Nah....no more budget for the M45. Last things we did was to swap audio, add new wheels, JP vented fenders, JP gril, lpuddle lamps, and call it a day. We have another project going on, so money has been re-directed.

I think that is more geared towards the sporty crowd. Thus the Sport in the name...lol

This style is gaining popularity in Japan. According to JP, the big bumper wide kits are not selling in Japan. The Premium line is just about defunct as far as sales. The Japanese are going for more of an Exe, simple style (that's what they call it). I guess they've been doing the "traditional" VIP so long that it's time for a change over there. That's why breaking into the US market is important for them, plus creating new kits for the domestic market.

The new look is more subtle compared to the traditional VIP. But, like every trend it goes in circle.

i suppose we'll see how it goes.

i'm not sure people, who already buy "cookie cutter" wheels (those available from wheelmax.com, wheelsrus, and what ever other discount wheel warehouses you can think of), will want to pay top dollar for a wheel that is hardly distinguishable from those other ones. as stated before, the wheel is hardly distinguishable from stock in some cases:

junction produce clearly makes quality product. but they're not that well known in the u.s. so i don't forsee great success with an expensive "cookie cutter" style wheel, when someone can buy a similar looking wheel for much cheaper. unless of course junction produce sports will be junction produce's bargain/discount brand. otherwise, people will still buy twenty inches strong (tis), sport max racing, or whatever else people are typically running on clublexus these days.

I would even think of JP producing a wheel like that. But [i]this[/i] is the style thats selling in Japan? Quite a shock to me.

personally i like wild and always have and will. fat lipped and negative offsets. the new style wheels are far from wild, no matter who made them. btw how much are they selling for compared to a similar sized scara??

Look again guys...it's not the same wheel.

The reason for a push into a stock looking wheel is not because it's trendy. It's the motive for catching a new market...the cheaper market. These seem to be cast single piece wheels. The price to manufacture is relatively inexpensive. Many mfr's are doing it now. i would not be surprised if JP was using a Korean mfr source provided to them by the Korean JP counterpart.

Cast wheels with good offset have sprung up in the drift scene for many years, the look has always been too sporty to bring into the VIP scene, even the VIP Sprot scene.

i thought the comments about "the same wheel" were more in jest. rather than in truth. 

we all know cast wheels are cheaper than forged. regardless of who junction produce is using to manufacture the wheels, they (the ones shown) are not that dissimilar from cheaper alternatives already available here. so, what's going to separate the jp wheel from the lower end wheels? does jp really expect people to stray from the lower end lower priced wheels just to buy a low offset flat faced higher priced wheel?

it seems far fetched to think that junction produce is going to try and get its foot in the door in the u.s. by offering for a higher price what we already have here at a lower one.

JP does not come out with product lines or models to satisfy the US market. They don't even consider the US when coming up with new designs. This wheel trend is what's happening in Japan now. Look at all the Japanese wheel makers....they are coming out with flat face wheels too....do you think they did this to satisfy the US market...NOT. Japanese manufacturers don't change their ways very easily.....

well, theyre going have to begin to think about that train of thought if they plan to be at all scuccessful in the US, which, given the amount of booths at sema last year, they certianly are trying to gain popularity in the us.

simple economics.

But the question still remains... yes, Junction Produce came out with a simple, 1-piece flat wheel because of demand, but they did they go with such a majorly ho hum design? Lackluster, at best. A lot of the other companies coming out with similar wheels are at least still infusing their wheels with some flair... JP's effort in this case is definitely feeble, and I sort of have a feeling they know that too, so there's gotta be an ulterior motive, per se

LOL, you know the funny thing? My gf's brother has been borrowing my VIP mags recently and he came back to me last night saying "I've found the wheel i like!" and guess which one he pointed out?? Out of a whole mag full of deep dish and great looking wheels, he chose this one

He's quite adamant that it was better than any local wheel he'd seen (although he changed his mind when he saw the price!!!). Mind you, he was picking that wheel for his IS200 because it was close to a stock design.

They are on a MISSION to have as many products out there...... from slippers to these ugly wheels. Its NOT like they made 100's and cant sell them. Even if they only sell 4 that product is on the JP line of stuff they have.
