Does it matter...?
Hey people, just wondering what you all think. Would you say that VIP cars should be Automatic or 5spd. manuals? Just curious because I know automatic would best fit into luxury standards, but what about VIP luxury cars that are 5spd.? Or does it take away from the luxurious part of a VIP vehicle?

Not very common to see a manual vip car (maybe one or 2 in the 50+ magazines i have - and they are usually race-inspired).
The problem is that none of the 'accepted' vip platforms are available with a 5 speed manual, so it would have to be a conversion. Along with that conversion is usually turbo mods, and then you wouldnt want to have all that power with excessive camber so it would probably just end up looking like a tuner car...

Not many sedans come 5spd. As a matter of fact, I dont believe any of the true VIP platforms come in a 5spd version. Now, if you were to convert your auto to a manual, now that sounds interesting.

my gs has a 'manual' option, does that count? LOL. even the aristos in japan only came with the 4spd manual shifting option.
did any crowns come in a manual option ever?
the chaser may, but it's not a 'vip' car, it's always had it's tuner backing.
the soarer comes with a 5spd 1jz, but again, it's just styled. and most of the ones that are styled are the gt400 or something like that, the v8 model.

I think have always been into a classy looking vip style car that has a lot of thoughtfully hidden performance features. A car being 5 speed does not make a car any less luxury. People should never be scared to do something tastefully different to a car, even if people don't normally do it

I can't see 5spd = comfortable cruising.
Cruising was a lot more easy going when I was driving an automatic Oldsmobile, than when I'm driving my little crapbox...so as much fun as shifting gears can be, it's not relaxing in downtown traffic like cruising is supposed to be.
