Man this is really a trip

I was at 7-eleven today when I stumbled upon a LA paper and on the cover.........
Get this.....
They have 4 crushed JDM Civics and one of the owners looking up at it. They even have ruumor saying that they are gonna bring the crushing method here in San Diego next. Dont get me wrong, it is good to crack down on the illegal street racing but if they had longer tracks and more of them in california, not as many people will be doing it. What you guys think?

i think its insane they think that they can just take someones shit that they put their life. time and money into and just destroy it for making a bad decision. make it so they cant drive, but leave the car out of it.

then people shd know that street racing will not be tolerated anymore.

also, you said they were jdm, so meaning RHD? that's probably why the cars were crushed then, illegal cars, that don't have plates, street racing, it's all bad news, in a sense. if you treasure your car that much, you will quit the street racing. take it to the track, and just resist the urges on the streets.

It's already been happening here in SD!
On the news yesterday they had a segment about cars getting smahed for racing. They even showed 2 cars stacked on top of each other getting crushed! (Non-RHD)
They even interviewd the driver of one of the cars and he said this won't keep him from street racing and he'll keep doing it when he opens his own shop!
He looked pretty pissed to me!

Here's the story from yesterday on news 8. Still trying to find the video.

see the sad part is that its true. Crushing cars will just make more aggressive drivers on the roads now a days. Its just dumb.

I think they're taking this a little too far. Yeah street racing may injure and kill people in worst case scenarios, but taking someones car that they've put their heart and souls into is ridiculous.

Around my neighborhood there are plenty of stupid street racers. Some of their cars don't need to be crushed, their cars barely drive down the road anyways. :slap:

Really, I can understand the whole crushing thing as crappy as it is. What else is going to deter you from doing this that is within the power of the police? Clearly laws havent stopped anyone. I would hate to see my car crushed. I would hate to see my car in any sort of street racing too though. Leave that nonsense for those who don't know any better.

I manage a team of drifters here in the midwest and have learned watching those who follow my guys that it is best to keep it on the track. You get better there anyways. If you can afford to refill a nitrous bottle a few times but can't afford entry fees to the track, you are a moron. :pat:

you know...this might be evil, but if they're going to go to that extreme, they might as well strip the car down and sell it for parts. Make some money anyways...

I think it a good idea BUT get the guys cars that hurt someone - caused an accident got convicted / charged w/ something bad.

If 2 cars were street racing on a street no one goes on and no harm was done NOT GOOD !!

Well, they dont crush the cars here, but they can confiscate them in some states (they are then sold at auction). But not only for racing... its a 3-strikes and your out rule for 'hoons' (wheel chirps at take-off are enough to be a 'strike')

While it might seem like a great idea to deter street racing and stupid driver behaviour, it has actually had the opposite effect. People on 2 strikes are not stopping for police cars and choosing to run instead, creating an even more dangerous situation than the original race... If i knew my pride and joy was about to be crushed, i would do whatever it takes to get it somewhere i can strip it and and at least take the valuable parts off!!!

I can admit, that after meeting and becoming friends w/ C4president, I have developed a speed demon. Him and I used to have some wild nights that I thank god we have never been caught for. And now having V8 power for the first time doesn't help but being involved w/ this "VIP" lifestyle I am learning to concqour my speed demon by riding low and slow. Having my Q recently I've relized that u shouldn't chase people down for attention, people should slow down to catch you and take a pics of your beauty or curtains! I think it's a good idea to crush cars. Eventually that person is gonna get tired of all that time and money they've wasted and may eventually look for alternatives to prevent not having their cars crushed (Like ride slow and low)! HAHAHA!

Hey hey buddy, we had people in the group who encouraged too. Ok I admit, he had a probe and I had an eclipse, why not race it? But our cars got a lot of attention from idiots on the freeway and on our main streets. :slap: But I will admit he's right, riding slow and low should cause as much attention as speeding.
Last night there was a new XBizzle that flew my doors off on the freeway (no I wasnt racing) I was cruising at 72mph and he flew past me, 3 exits later, you see lights and him going to the side. Thats a phat ticket alone and then to think that they would crush his new car instead of suspend his license or impound the car is rediculous. Its all about money in the long run on the real

Crushing cars makes no sense. Confiscation is one thing, but they're wasting perfectly good cars! In fact they're spending money getting them crushed, when at least they could be profiting from the resale of parts!

Even worse: Attorney general in Toronto says he'll have cars crushed if they look like they are upgraded - without even proving they ever raced or planned to.

I personally think its rediculous that some of you keep saying that "its going to far, why take something that someone put their hearts and soul into...." But what about the innocent children and other people that people put their own hearts and souls into raising them??? Its amazing in the other thread how many of us have kids and how many we have, what will you care more about when one of them gets run over or smashed into by an on-coming car out of control because he didnt know how to drive his car that he just put his time and hardly hard worked money into?!?!
I may not agree with smashing a car of someone that got caught racing, there are many other punishments, but if it is making top pages on newspapers and especially YAHOO I think that is a pretty dam good point to make it across the country that this will not be tolerated any longer.
Just my 2 cents

Car crushing is just the only way to get people to stop. How likely do you think the owners of those cars will build another project, street race or buy another car w/o VIN? Though it sucks for a person like my friend who got his car impounded and which is now probably crushed because the dumb ass body shop removed his VIN tag. But the government sees crushing cars as a lesson in which less people will fix up their cars and street race. Just my 2 cents.

By the way, if you don't have VINs on your car for some odd reason don't attend any HIN (Hot Import Nights) events including VIP Autofashion. Over here in California, its seems as if they have a deal with the local authorities. Also, KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

See this is Bull Sh!t!

If this becomes such a common thing just wait till the prick cops start to profile people with cars that look fast and aggressive, to some of these cops some VIP cars might get in mix and just stereo typed into the whole jive.

I told this story before but just to make it short this time.... I was once minding my own business when the local jack off beat car club came cruising along. One pulled in front and went very slow causing me to try to pass. The next darted into the far right lane I was in the middle and a cop was ahead. I got nabbed because the cop thought we were racing.

Big fine suspended license and had to pick my car up from impound, not to mention my little baby girl was with! Boy did that start some sh!t with my wife.

Id be pissed and think I would go drive a bus into a police station if they had crushed my car for that shit.

Id be pissed and think I would go drive a bus into a police station if they had crushed my car for that shit.

dang that sucks.
