SEMA on VSC
Hello!
I work for SEMA. Consumers are always telling us what the aftermarket should be doing, and aftermarket companies keep asking us what consumers want. So, I'm here to help facilitate. If you ever have comments, suggestions or complaints about the industry feel free to let us know.
Stay tuned for more later!

Wow, SEMA here on vsc...pretty awesome. Welcome. Maybe you can help differentiate the "vip" scene of japan from the V.I.P. scene here in America.

Welcome to VIPSTYLECARS.COM
I think Caoboy said it all
I read several trade magazines (subscribed) and there seems to be a lot of confusion between the 'Dub scene' and VIP when the articles are trying to describe the latest trends in this demographic.

Market Study coming...
Thanks for the positive feedback. As for setting the record straight, I am putting together an official market report that should outline the scene. Information will be coming from the industry insiders (By that, I mean 50+ Japanese VIP companies). I have (and I know you have too) read too many articles/reports/comments circulating the industry that misrepresent the concepts. The last thing anyone needs is a flood of companies saturating the market with products that miss the mark.
I've been working with your great admins to launch an official VIP Style survey to poll the members of this site. Keep your eyes peeled for it. From what I've seen, you guys are on the right track.

most of the older members here have
been on the right track and thankfully, we have a good handful of vendors here who are official dealers of products stemming from many different VIP companies.
eyes are peeled for the survey/poll. :yahoo_26:

The poll is up guys, be as honest as you can be. Don't under or over do it. This is a good opportunity for those of us who really have a love and respect for VIP and everything that evolves around it. Link:

Absolutely. The goal is to accuratly portray the style as it originated and as it has evolved, with the purpose to educate the industry on the exact pulse of the consumer. I came across something today (which will go unnamed) that was clearly marketed to the JDM-VIP crowd but was developed usuing USDM-VIP(Bling) concepts. One case it not a problem, but when multiple companies fail to grasp the ideas and begin to be emmulated by other copy-cats, the real demands of the consumer get mixed up in these misrepresentations. I hope that makes sense.
For example, the drifting crowd has helped bring back older Japanese wheels from the 70-80's (Think SSR, Watanabe, etc). If wheel manufacturers see this demand as "small wheels" and not "classic Japanese", the misunderstanding could create "stresses" in the distribution and manufacturing channels. No one wins in those cases.
But, that's enough rambling for now.
