Possibility of aftermarket Y33 rear upper control arms failing

So I know cvc9216 has some S14 JIC arms for sale for about $260 shipped, but he's local so I'm sure we can work something out in price, but are JICs that necessary? The car is only daily driven, not like it see lots of twisties or track time, could I get by with some MeganRacing ones that I could possibly get at cost? What part of the arm is most likely to fail? I really want to get wheels to fully max out the camber, but I want to make sure I'm getting a "quality-enough" arm for daily driveability. I'm not being cheap, but I don't want to them to be overkill, but I guess better to be safe than sorry later right? I'm just wondering if its that necessary to have specific arms for 11" wide wheels. Any thoughts?

I've seen some cheap arms fail at the welds but really it's unlikely that they will break.  However the cheap rod ends will probably wear out quick.  I have a set of cheap arms on my S14 and the rod ends were toast after a year and less than 6k miles.  I bought new quality rod ends, but they were $110 for a pair.  Some of the intermediate-priced arms are good (orange tree, battle version, peak performance).  But then you might as well just buy my JICs (I'll hook you up, PM me).

I have the gold (Ebay) Godspeed S14 RUCAS (rear upper control arms), they seem pretty sturdy and the welds seemed good. I've had them on for 4 months and they have not failed me yet. I have 19x10.5 rears w/-1 offset. Camber is set to a conservative 3.0 degree, stock was 2.5. The wheels still poke a little still. I also bought the chrome Ebay toe arms, I kept hearing that if your going to run negative camber, it is necessary to be able to adjust your toe to prevent excessive tire wear. Tires are wearing well so far. Oh yeah, as far as suspension I am running Tein S-tech's with OEM Touring struts. I also have the chrome Ebay tension rods for the front to adjust the front caster. Whatever RUCAS you go with make sure you get spacers/washers as the S14 Rucas connection to the frame seems to be a little short, the spacers will fill in the space.

Go with the JICs,,they are worth just knowing you are driving on quality parts..
Lets the mind at ease while driving..Other wise any noise vibration or any other thing out 
of the norm while driving you will probably be thinking about if its the cheaper arms failing or not..
IF you spend a little more and get the part you know will hold up..I think in the long run not having to replace ends and washers and nuts will be well worth it...But hey  if you are going to keep the car for a while then go JIC if you are going to sell her get something for now...

are JIC's really quality ? their coilover welds are horrible !!!

I'd think twice  before anything JIC.

I'd think twice before anything JIC.[/quote]This is exactly why I created this thread. I've been hearing JIC is poo also but I've never owned any JIC parts so I don't know. Then I hear majority of the people trust in them. So now what?

well for some used JIC coilovers and as  old these are I have held no problems and they have held up very well and still going strong. I have never had anything else to compare to so I guess in all fiareness its kinda hard to give my advice on any suspension compenent other than what I am using...I know Dominik has said that he has had problems with the rucas.. I think there was a thread on LJC about this...

Nope, no problems with my generic RUCAs. In fact i am very happy with them. 
The guy at the shop said the balljoints will be the first to go, but mine are still holding up fine. Actually when i was adjusting the camber recently i was pleased to find that the ball joint was still as tight as the day i put them in (10 months ago). Admittedly i dont use my car as DD, but i do alot of long distance driving and i drive alot on weekends.
Only noises i get are squeaky shocks, but they are dampening the shocks just fine so i am in no real hurry to get them rebuilt

If youre looking for high quality, affordable, ruca with good customer service and who stand behind their products you can try partshopmax. Theyre local to me and ive seen their stuff firsthand and would definitely run them on my car. They seem to be growing in popularity on Zilvia.net as well so some research on that forum might help in your decision as well. I run $330 cusco rucas on my s14 and would just get these instead if i had to do it again.

BTW, not many people run jic multilink that ive seen. Theyre good but overpriced for what you get IMO. The most popular multilink companies ive seen are probably SPL and Battleversion.
