IT was hard to choose what to include in the short film so please if your car is not featured in the video, please understand that there is no prejudice on the decision making. I simply browsed threads and galleries for photos and these members cars were selected for the first promo vid..I will create new ones every month or so..[/COLOR]

I agree later down the line we do rolling shot vids but for now that tight sun!
Maybe later on in the future we can do our own Vids like the Option videos or motoring vids!!!

Not bad, from a professional editors standpoint (I've worked with Ford Motor Company on commercials as well as various small companies and of course our own DVD series Grip Video and Drift Society) I will say it's not bad..I would place it as a good place to start.  As others have said you used too many visual effects.  Also, anytime you have music and stills, try to incorporate the stills effects with the music..it's your chance to make it more interesting..but don't go overboard.  Also, just stills themselves makes for a boring presentation after about 15 secs.  You will start to lose viewers...mix things up a bit.  Also try to add more information which will help people to understand what you're trying to accomplish with the video.  Ity seems just like a promo video for the members themselves more than the forums.  Only the beginning of the video hinted into that. You need to state WHY people need to come to VSC..statistics, advantages, benefits, etc.  The music choice itself isn't too bad.  So you hit that mark ok, but try to work the video with the music better and you'll maintain viewers interest.

the cars went by kinda fast...next time maybe do the same just a few seconds longer and diffrent angle shots of folks rides.....badass bro:wtcrun:

I have bien editing video since 1998. I have worked with many local companies as well as funeral homes and what not. I have done animations for casinos using Maya 3d software..not as impressive as FORD but I do understand Video Processing very well. It is always great to get professional feedback as I work for myself and not a company anymore.
 
NOW with video processing I mainly do weddings, celebrations and Memorial DVDs..
Software I am currently using is Adobe Premier Pro, After Affects Pro DVD Encore and audition.
When you work for yourself its kinda hard to get the same input as when you work with a company who tells you exactly what they want. I have to basically storyboard what I want create music to hit certain transitions so that the footage matches the music..

I'm actually in the same situation as you.  Even with Ford I created the music used for the commercials and do so for most of our productions, plus they gave us a lot of creative freedom which is rare when working on the corporate level.  We storyboard them as we shoot and also afterwards depending on the situation.  Some of them we storyboard before the shoot to give a more cinematic feel.  So it really depends on what we're shooting.  Doing the video for BigX, BM Hi, & Drift Matsuri was done both ways..some before, some after since we had an idea of the whole schedule of events.
I use FCP Studio, Motion, Aftereffects, Photoshop, DVDSP, & others.  So pretty much similar to what you use, just on MAC.  I used Premier back when I did editing for the Navy at the Tactical Support Center.  I think you'd like FCP way better, try it if you get the chance.  It's far more user friendly and has a lot of great 3rd party plugins and scripting.  I bet you'd love it.  Definitely try to get video..and try to keep it at a minimum of MiniDV so the quality is the same throughout.  The video would help to lengthen it, yet keep it entertaining.  Also try to utilize more straight cuts rather than transitions.  Straight cuts are baller when you make them work right. :biggthumpup:

You have to admit though, the short film was pretty suave for just being stills..I think that, that is the key to a good editor and a bad editor..How can you take just pictures and make them interesting enought to keep the viewer intertained...with music,,effects transitions, duration  and expressions:biggthumpup: . In the end I think I pulled it off..needs some fine tunning but hopefully next time I will have more to work with.

I checked those out I did not really like them..everything is just to fast to much going on and clarity is not that great as well..
 
That was the final cut..for the first video..if it brings in enough users then I will continue t produce them  if not than I will make them for fun every so often when I have time.

That's kind of the point though (and those are not full res, they are examples).  You're trying to get the attention of people..not the opposite (That's why my trailers are so much faster/different than the actual dvd's) .  You're not looking at it from a marketing standpoint.  You need to really grab their attention to make the sales/pitch, you know, get them excited to be a part of VIP.  I only wish I could make videos as bad ass as v-ys can..they have some very dramatic vids which have really worked well for the companies who've worked with them (one of friends is a client of theirs).

I think you're taking the criticism too harshly.  We're trying to help you with all sincerity.  We want your videos to be as effective as they can be for the good of the community.  You said you'd be making future ones and we just want to help you make them better and better which I'm positive they will.  So please don't take it the wrong way. :biggthumpup: :biggthumpup:

I am not dogging or downing Zion's work, It was an example of PV's I have seen before which really excite just watching and make you want to be apart of the action. It makes the company and the sport look fun.
