265/30's or 235/35's for a 19x10

Reason I ask is because I'm beginning to be drawn more into the cambered in look with a slightly wider tread than a overly stretched stock camber wheel. On a 19x10, would a Falken FK452 265/30/19 look much better treadwise wide and have almost the same amount of stretch as a FK452 235/35/19? I know what you guys are thinking too, why would I need to camber in a 10" wheel, let's just say the offsets are high negative numbers. According to the fk452.com specs page, looks like it gives .6" of wider tread on the 265/30 vs the 235/35. Of course, stretch and/or camber in if necessary, but to still keep the wide tread look from the rear with a similar "235/35 strech", would the 265/30/19 on a 10 wide wheel sound like the best idea or just stick with the 235/35? There's gotta be a reason why in all the vip mags, they prefer to use the 265 or 275 30 series tires than the 235 or 245 35 series tires. What do you guys think? Is that extra .6" inch of tread even worth it?

it's really up to you...you should ask yourself how bad are the roads in your area and what do you want as your overall look of your car?

personally, i'm more into the 'wild' style of vip styling...since you have a y33 and a 10" wheel with high negative offset, you may need as much clearance as possible...that is where a 235 will really come in handy when clearing your fenders...you will also need negative camber to the max. how much do your fenders need to come out?

on big luxury sedans, i don't like to use 30 series tires on anything...it looks like rubber bands wraped around a rim on stretched tires...i don't even like to see it on a 275...i guess if you're not stretching tire it would be okay...

i like 30 series profile compared to 35, 35 series looks thick to me, again its totally up to u man:shrug: , btw 452 don't really stretch compared to the older series like st115,451,etc..

Yea, from past experience the Fk452's do run big. They both give the almost same height in overall diameter, but the 265/30 gives a wider tread. I'll probably go with those. I'm noticing more and more people are going the 235/35 route for a 10", is it because its way cheaper? Again, in my case I can care less for big stretch to make it fit, I'd rather camber in, but I'm not saying I want beefy tires either, just mild stretch.

I also came across this post in another thread for using a 275/30 instead of a 245/35 on a 11".

I think most are going 235 FK452 on the 10" because of the lack of stretch that FK452 provide. Its best to run the widest tire that will fit your setup. If you need the clearance, I would get the 235.

so you plan on fitting a 10" wheel with high negative offsets wheels on your stock fenders? I don't see how that is gonna happen...you need as much help as possible...you'd be surprised at how much more clearence you can get off stretched tires...camber alone isn't gonna fit those things.

And i'm really surprised that you guys think fk452's don't stretch that much...yes they are a 'beefy' tire which makes for a very soft ride with stretched tires...i love the way they stretched and IMO are the best stretching tire i've seen...

Yes, i've done it before. Its a Q45, not a Lexus. Camber and rolled fenders will work. I know how much clearance stretching gives and honestly a 265/30 will still give a mild stretch without having your tires look all skinny from the rear, which I think looks weird. The 452's do stretch nice, but I'm not that crazy about having skinny looking tires from the rear if I don't have to with fender clearance, but then again if it was that serious about wider tread, I might as well just get a wider wheel.

can i ask what your offsets are? i have a y33 and a ucf10...i'm well aware of what can fit on a y33...i had 10" +22 with no rolled lip...then went 9.5" +3 with a rolled like now i have 12" -24...i think i saw someone with a 10" -10 or something and had serious fitment problems with his y33...and i think -10 i not a 'high' negative offset number...

I previously had a 19x9.5 +7 with a 15mm spacer and FK452 235/35/19 with rolled rear fender/stock camber and still could've maybe pushed it another 5mm before actually rubbing when hitting a bump. I've tried a 10.5 +0 with a FK452 235/35/19 with the same rolled fenders/stock camber, no problems rubbing, but that was pretty much maxed out for fender clearance, any closer and it would rub. I'm soon to be running 19x10 -29. Zion had problems with 10.5 -8 and he had to pull his rolled fenders before even attempting to max out the camber. My main question was why run 235/35 when a 265/30 tread looks better on the ground from the rear? I pretty much found out most a lot of people are more concerned about clearing fenders by extremely stretching versus having to camber the wheel in.

I also came across this post in another thread for using a 275/30 instead of a 245/35 on a 11".

Im currently running the 30 series in the rear for clearance issues. Its slightly rougher but not much of a difference driving wise then when I had the 35 series to make me go back to a 35 series.

10j -29 offset ?

wow! have u thought about maybe upgrading your suspension first ? that way you can go lower to get some natural camber and then you can force the camber.

I thought about it, but for how I feel about this car, its really not that serious to me right now. I just want to change up the wheels and drive it as is.

10j -29 ? have u looked at your current set up and measured out how much more poke you will be getting ? don't you think -29 will require some fender work? especially on non-adjustable suspension ?

Beni,
I did max out the camber before I pulled because max camber was not enough and I did not want
my wheels cambered in any more. almost half of my rear tires dint even touch the road at all. I could not imagine having any more camber than stock adjustments I think it will look very funny especially if your fronts arnt cambered in to some what match the rears..and to DD it with more than stock adjustments just seems like you will be burning through tires even with correct toe. Have you considered Dunlops at all..They seem to have a nice stretch and the tread design is just sick and seems to be a little thicker.

VIP-UCF,
Also The reason I had to pull is that my ride height is lower than Benji's so that is a big issue as well. It is possible that Benji will be able to pull it off without a pull but, if he decides to drop his car lower a pull will be mandatory.

Benji,
10 -29 is pretty aggressive, have you test fitted that size yet just for kicks?
my 10.5 -8 I thought was aggressive coming from a 9.5+40 hee hee hee but are you
absolutely sure you wont have to pull and heavy camber will work?
Good luck bro I know you have some knowledge and experience under your belt.

Yup, it'll work with just added camber and rolled fender. I've tried a 30mm spacer on a 10" before. Its cutting it really close before having to pull.

Yes I'm sure. I've tried a 19x10 0 offset with a true 30mm wheel/spacer adapter and S14 ruca and it came close. I wanted to push the limits of the rolled fender without having to pull.

well i commend you on going that agressive...BUT i think you're being too hard headed....my guess is you need to come out about 1" buddy...even with camber...I have a 12" -24 and have to come out at least 3"...even with air AND a stretched 275 and ~7* of camber. If zion has a 10.5" -8 and you have a 10" -29, and there are 25mm in 1", that is like zion having a 10" -20/21....and you think you're not gonna have to pull fenders? dude, whatever it is you're smoking, let me get a hit too because there's no way...

ugly pull but my guess is this is about how much your fenders need to come out...maybe about .5" less...

Thanks, but no need to commend me on 10 -29, I gotta commend you on 12" -24, that's baller. Your nuts are definitely bigger than mine when it comes to aggressive, haha. With 10 -29, I'd rather have 11" -4 just because I like to have more backspacing, but I'll see if I'll even dig these wheels on my car. Zion never added negative camber with new arms though, he just pulled fenders on stock adjusted arms. He admitted to rather doing fender work than adding negative camber. If I have to I have to pull an 1" and add negative camber, no biggie, I just initially wanted what One Ton VIP described as the "steamroller look" for my tires from the rear, but it probably would've been better just getting something wider than a 10" wheel.

[quote=VIP-UCF;70844]well i commend you on going that agressive...BUT i think you're being too hard headed....my guess is you need to come out about 1" buddy...even with camber...I have a 12" -24 and have to come out at least 3"...even with air AND a stretched 275 and ~7* of camber. Hell yea that would be nice. If I didn't have to wait 1.5 months for SSR Vienna Dish 19x10.5/11.5 +6 +0 w/ tires, I'd jump on them.

Yo Benji,,, I did a photo shop of what I believe the out come will be Given those offsets and size with no pull just how you are now. Lots of camber and this is why I was not willing to go any more
than stock max camber..but thats me and we all have a picture perfect idea of what we want.

WOW thats a lot of camber. Keep in mind that your fronts won't be cambered in as much and even with the camber plates maxed out the fronts will appear to be straight up and down compared to the rear..So you will probably have to upgrade your front suspension as well to allow more camber..I have mine set to the max and it looks alot better than before but no where close to rear.

I really wish you the best and cant wait to see these bad boyz on your ride!

Thanks for the photoshop! Now I have a visual of how it will turn out. Yea, kinda extreme. I hear ya on the fronts not being cambered in as much. I have those adjustable Cusco front upper mounts coming to add some camber up front, but yea like you said I don't think it will still camber in enough to match the rears. Hopefully these new wheels will look decent, I think I'm going roll on them while I wait on a different set to be shipped. I don't want to roll the whole summer on stock wheels so I just splurged on these.

I guess for once I actually have some knowledge about this due to my personal experience.
I went through a lot of thoughts when I read this and thinking how in the world would he be able
to do this when I couldn't..actually thinking back and wondering could I have pulled it off with out
the pull. Then I realize again that we roll at different heights and when you are lower you have to do more drastic mods to the fender along with camber because its not just clearing the stretched sidewall its also not rubbing the tread of the tire on the inner fender..that's why I had to pull or I had to raise it and well my friend I was not willing to raise her anymore. Its all a learning process and either way you look at it you will have something to keep you busy for a while.*)

Exactly. I'm not as low as you so I've been planning to do less fender work, though I wish I could roll that low.
