Deep Lip vs No lip

I dont really like shallow lips, but I do like deep lips and Im getting to like the "no lip" wheels that seem to be a lot more of, just judging from the VIP Style mags Ive seen from Japan and some of the big name vendors running them. Are no-lip wheels the next big thing or has it been like that for a while?

ive liked deep lips for a long time and always will but i know what you mean the no lips are growing on me lately and hoping to get my hands on some soon.

ive noticed in some of the old VIP mags i have, the rears have massive lips while the fronts have very, very little to almost no lip.... it gives it that more staggered look. my preference, all lip... but no lips, i think would be the next big thing...

I like phat lips on RWD and no lips on FWD!!!!!!
Actualy as long as they fit the car it's all good to me! :shrug:

They've been doing both for a while now and it seems now days like anything goes as long as fitment and the actual face style is up to date.

yeah, it's been around...been seeing VIP cars with carlsson rims for a while...maybe 1 out of 10 cars will look nice w/o lip but like with everything else in life, it's personal preference...

4-6 yrs ago no lip was popular now its come back......... This time the wheels sizes are bigger and new style's.

^^^ me too, i've ran both styles (lip vs. no-lip/full-face) and enjoyed both looks...

I love fatt lips.on rims that is.I've got 4" lips on my rims for my ae86.But I also like that no lip concave face look just like the  MRR HR-2 rims which I'll buy for my gs3.

personal preference. they can both look good it just depends on what you like

i like lips on both front and rear. but this time i, with my new wheels, i went with a smaller lip in front and a huge ass lip in the back to get the more of a staggered look. no lip looks good sometimes. i guess it depends on the style of the face.

i love it when i see  no-lip wheels that curve in with lower offsets

no lip wheels tend to look bigger.  here is an example from my car.  my 18s looks as big if not bigger than my 19s.

it really comes down to personal preference.  i personally like rims with lip because it shows that it has a wider rear than front.  my carlssons with no lip were staggered but it looked the same as the front.

Yeah I was running the same Carlssons several yrs back and they look alot bigger then they are.......... in a way thats a good thing.
 
I saw those same wheels on a Silver Benz about 9 yrs ago and I said if i ever had a silver car I would get those wheels. I did and rocked them for a couple of yrs. On your black car they stand out but still look good.

Depends on the application.  Some rides looks great with flush concave wheels, while other looks best with the biggest lip possible.  Personally, I am going for the most lip possible.

My next set of rims will have no lip.  I perfer the concaved face with some neg camber

I think you solved why the no-lip rims are growing on me. They do look bigger than lipped ones. Im kinda pissed why I didnt notice that effect before....that is a plus for the no lips...

Ideally I'd like to have a VIP car with a few sets of rims to change it up.

your right, every VIP rider should have two sets of wheels. This way you can change up your ride every few months.

Im a fan of both styles.. the main thing is that you fit the max size width with the max offset. 
 
Im not a huge fan of buying wheels that are very conservative with width and offsets. 
 
Push it to the limit with lip or no lip.. if your going narrow wheels those cheapy univerasal fit wheels that most wheel shops gots you better be sapcing that bad boy out for that flush look with the fender. IF not get on supper agressive offest.. I know most guys here get high end wheels with custom offsets to fit there rides.
 
I got my first set of dish type of wheel and the reaction im getting is awsome.. I guess people in Hawaii are stuck on huge lips there just amazed to see something diff. 
 
now that i know how wide i really can go of the new Xbs... my next set of wheels will have some nice cho cho lips!
