For these pics, I was using all three lenses. 18-55 (walk around), 50mm close up pics/portraits), 70-300 (telephoto)
I'm just getting in to the hobby and wasting money..The REAL lenses are the big ticket item, mines are cheapys..
Heres the breakdown on my equipment..Nothing special, just a beginners setup..
Lens:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II/
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6
The rest of my gear:
Digital Rebel XT/350d
BG-E3 Grip
Canon Speedlite 430EX
DynaTran AT-6703 w/ AT-6703SB
Still saving for:
Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5
70-200f/2.8 IS
Get into the hobby, you wont regret it..
PLUs a picture is worth a thousands words....if taken proplery...

I have a few Manfroto tripods and a monopod that I've used mostly for shooting video, but also have a small Kodak one for traveling that I don't mind getting beat up. The Manfroto's are my favorites..but I have broken a few, so they aren't indestructible...then again I go and do some of the craziest stuff with them..so it goes with the territory. I have bet my life on them though...seriously. I was up in the mountains shooting Dai drifting the pass and it was the only thing keeping me from falling a few hundred feet into a ravine. You know the saying "anything to get the shot". I look back on a lot of the crazy stuff I did and think wow..I got REALLY lucky.
