What is VIP Exhaust?

I have seen so many different exhaust notes on this site and was just wondering what a Bippu exhaust was supposed to sound like?

Suppose to sound like a grandma fart..

Being V8s they usually sound deep and a bit throaty. Nice burble at idle. Of course it depends on engine mods, intake design, yadda yadda...

but I think it should either be quiet and classy, or boso loud =)

supposed to be large dual/quad tips with a non-existant or slightly obnoxious deep-throated intrusive decibal tone.....VIP exhausts are more for over-the-top  aesthetic upgrades.....

mine is a dual center exit setup with no mufflers or resonators.  i have a big V8 so it sounds very deep and mean.

Just keep it clean! I think even stock could be acceptable, but it does'nt hurt to have things like AIMGAIN printed on them either.......(Pancakes)

it sounds like shit in that video compared to hearing it in person.  the digi cam doesn't pick up well on audio...  but still!  my username is bosozoku and as some might guess, it's much louder now-(cats ditched for stainless test pipes).  i finally got the time and money to rework the exhaust!  so get ready for some flashy tips!  i know there will be haters, but hey..  it's my car so if i like it then mission accomplished.  my girlfriend says i can't make the tips longer than 10 feet..  :sad:

i aint gon lie, yokotas' exhaust are sick. i think they're an example of vip exhausts. the black ucf1x's exhaust are sick too. i'd rock that sh*t but won't look right with my aimgain kit.

but mine are more of a throwback VIP exhaust

idk..  i don't want to get involved in the flaming, but i think alot of people who think they know what's vip is actually more exe than anything.  what i consider vip is more of the crazy interior accesories, fur interiors, and upswept extended tips.  the whole flushed little oval tips are what i consider exe..  that just my take on all this from my knowledge.

i agree...vip and exe are the same family but not the same person...exe is like the sister styling of VIP...they are often mixed which often looks nicer than being extreme one or the other...

Oh damn....You need to throw an X pipe on her and cut that exhaust to make it a true dual...it will get rid of the pulsing and sound a lot better dude. OR you can rock it that way too, either way it sounds mean. I'm going to pick up a b-pipe for now, I'm still contemplating on either getting some nice mufflers, or just go with a custom 'sleeper' setup of straight pipes with the stock tip lol.

yeah, my digi cam butchered my exhaust note too....  but from the sound of it, Caoboy is right..  you need an X-pipe to clean up the sound.  it will net you a few low rpm hp and smooth out the sound alot.  you'll love it.  


but i need an opinion guys!  should i hide my exhaust and use downturns or do dual protruding 4" cannons?  i can't decide if the clean look or extreme look will be better.  also consider i'm gettting either a JP or Wald kit in the near future..  i don't want to have to hack it up or anything..  idk what to do.

boso I really dig your cannons, unless your going for a sleeper look id just leave it the way it is. I am very biased though as I love exhausts more on the wild side.

Love those mufflers..the sound reminds me of jeepneys in the philippines. :)

they are some no name ones as far as i can tell, I got them off of Robert and as you know Robert always finds the cherry stuff hahahaha, and I held on to them for a while now that my car got wrecked so I was deciding if to look for a car they would fit on or sell them, but since i have yet to close my problems with the insurance company i was thinking of letting them both go for like $450 OBO and whatever the shipping costs were the buyer would pay.... but I still haven't decided and well the few people that know already have their exhaust done so I was waiting hahahahahaha why who's offering? PM me!!!

I have a custom set up with magnaflow's right now but I think this would look hotter.

"竹やり" = take-yari = style of exhaust like the one on the Cedric, which is more common on kaido racer style than VIP cars.  I love them though, especially on VIP cars.

the reasons why i picked these three are because ALL of the brands mentioned in the thread are not available locally and ive always liked the look of the g-medallion but im not sure it fits the VIP look. inputs will be very much appreciated. thanks. one more thing, all three mufflers sound relatively stock on idle but are rather loud (not obnoxiously though) after 3000 rpms.

Go with the Tsudo Twin tip. I don't like a big muffler with a single tip like the gmedalion  or single tip tsudo.

tsudo oval tip looks very clean and will look nice on a vip car.

To me,none of them.those Tsudo mufflers look okay but I'm not feeling the dual tip ones.when I think of "VIP" exhaust,I think of big fat oval mufflers with long tips.kinda like Junction Produce ones.I'd go with the Tanabe but I'm not feeling how the tip is shaped.

It doesnt make you or your car any less.  Please understand that since you do not have a vip platform modding in the style will be harder for you, but not impossible! please check out these other cars not typically found in the style that I think pulled it off beautifully.

wondering what your guy's opinions would work best with this kit. I have the kit and its about a 7inch opening across

I was planning on extending the pipes out and turning them up with about a 75% upward so they would really hug the bumper.. but since im not running with a wing, would that make the lower half of the car a little too much? 

Wheel wise, im running the staple SSR Dish2..if that makes any difference.

Yea, this guy lives in my neighbor hood! I think that video is shot less than 5min. away from my crib....
That video dosen't do that car any justice!
In person it sounds like the craziest GS EVER!!!! I used to try to chase him down to ask him what made his car sound like that...... DOPE!!! 
 
He also has a B pipe added and some other stuff I think!
But if I had a goal of how I wanted my VIP car to sound that would probably be it!
 
I also heard AFL430 LS has the same exhaust and sounds the same if not better!

It's too bad they offer the old type 1, I really liked the upturned tips. Does someone make a similar muffler?

jp only makes their type 3 now which sucks cuz i wanted the type 1.  i heard that sound clip before but thanks for the help. ^^ wondering the same thing if anyone makes a similar one to the type 1 for a Y34

JP does indeed sound sick, has a nice rumble to it. Thanks Dennis ... Pancakes what u plan on changing ur mid mufflers to? I was tempted to do away with them, but decided to keep them unitl I heard how the JP sound first

I would love to have the JP exhaust but since I have the aimgain kit, I wanted to keep everything Aimgain.....
 
As far as what I'm changing.....
well the exhasut already is perfect, it has a very classy (not loud/not quite tone) but I'm jus gonna upgrade them to some high flow magnaflows or flowmasters or sumthin (I'll have my mufflar guy look at it...) *Q45 stock piping is NASTY as hell!!!! I was gonna remove the mids all together but I don't want it too loud....

That's too bad..you have to hear Brandicus' exhaust in person. It roars like no other. It makes baby Jesus cry. It makes lil girls pee pee. It's awesome. 

I'm planning on doing the same with my car. Straight pipes, with some tips at the end. Just gotta find the right rolled tips.

I assume its ridiculously hard to find anyone selling type 1 mufflers? Used preferably :)

Everyone seems to like the more I guess you can call comon consevative style VIP style Exhaust. I am a big fan of this G50's Exhaust. Yankee style as they say it. I guess it may not be so much VIP, but more of a Rebel style. This crap picture was with my camera phone and does no real justice. looks way better in person. I really like the JP exhaust, it sounds super nice, ive heard it on a GS400 and on a Y33. Aimgain pipes are Awsome too.

Has anyone heard the K-Break KB Master exhaust I like the look of it. I'm not sure if I want the KB Master or the AimGain D Class.
