y33 cradling with only two tires on the pavement

any other lowered y33 owners get this problem? 

when going into a steep driveway at an angle, do you guys have the occurance of having only two opposite corner tires on the pavement while the other two are catching air ? sometimes if the driveway is a bit too steep, I completely lose rear wheel traction, to the point where all they do is spin and spin. I would then have to back out and re-enter the driveway at a different angle to keep rear tire traction.

anyone els have same issues ?

Haha, my Z did that but only because of how stiff the suspension and chassis were due to modification.  It would happen all the time though since it was super stiff.

When I went to Mitsuwa this weekend I got stuck on the driveway incline because I was so low and couldn't get over!

happens to me in my drive way... but yeah cuase the suspensiion is stiff keeping your arms from extending..its even worse when you have alot of camber..

My right side tire was in the air, and i have an open diff
so i had to have a friend push me forward

then my left tire went up into the wheel well to much and the tire got stuck on the inner fenderwell...
yeah that was a 10 fucking minute ordeal

my truck has a custom stiff suspension and i get this aswell...i bet onlookers are like "damn that truck aint got no power" whatever it looks low as fck!!! and thats all that matters

OMG ANYWHERE at Ward..haha.  They have THE WORST entries ever.  All of them are like a 45 degree angle.  I got stuck, literally, at the theater side entrance.

what i do @ my office garage ramp is turn the wheel completely, let one side go up first (the left) then very slowly and gradually let the right side hop on the ramp slowly.. that seemed to cure the problem a bit. one time i got stuck at starbucks ward and the right side of my tire was just free-spinning...right in front of everybody too! so shame! :pat:

haven't been on here for a while...but here's my story about 2 wheeling:

This was during my finals week in school and I was at homy trying to finish a project that was suppost to be turned in to one of my classes and it counted as our final. Since it was too late to take the bus I ended up taking the Q. One parking lot was full and I got sent to a lot that's on a steep downhill, with driveways coming out of it at a steeper angle...so when you're coming down a hill your car better make that tight 30 degree turn. Well my car didn't. I tried to back up...no luck the tire is spinning. So I moved forward a bit...it spins even more. Now it actually began sliding forward and soon I was pressed up against the barrier so I couldn't go forward or back. Half an hour goes by with a ton of people driving past me and not doing jack. By now I am 45 minutes late for class. Finally I stepped into the middle of the road when a car was driving by and asked for help. 15-20 minutes later we got my car pulled out, and another 10 minutes later I was at my class doorstep. I ended up leaving the paper in his office because I felt super stupind coming in for the lat 5 minutes of class. But yeah having an open diff sux...expecially since when the tire spins, the traction control kicks in.

When I get stuck I jus raise it,

never in my Q but my LS with cut springs did that...

Factory LSD helps, but its not exactly infallible. The inside wheel lifts on alot of occasions, but the LSD lets me give a little power to the wheel that is on the ground so i can still get up.
 
But there was one driveway on a hotel carpark.... Spiraled up around a 90 degree bend at an insane incline. Going down was fine; it was a very tight corner so i had to inch down.
 
Going back up I could not get the traction needed to make it around the corner and because the corner was so tight i had to crawl up. After about 5 attempts i was about to raise the height of the inside rear wheel so it maintained contact all the way through, until another frustrated driver behind me offered to help me. He stood at the side of the incline and I gunned it up; at the right moment he ran behind and pushed as i swung it around the tight corner. Scary as shit but i made it up.
 
I parked in the loading dock for the rest of my stay

my frame rail got high centered on the gravel in my driveway after my front right wheel went in a dip....

i pulled it off with the stagea and a tow strap.

mine does that, if the drive way looks to steep i get a running start and hold on!

ya man in the mr2 any incline change over a few degrees i get the tires lifting... but i also pull 1.18 on a 300ft so its suspention is a bit stiffer that nte q45 ;)  
 the only time i have had a tire come off the ground was at my eye place but the exit to that plase is murder, i got stuck laying frame... the ups guy helped me out of that one

oh crap I almost got stuck in a steep driveway today.

man I got freaked out !  fortunately I turned the steering wheel the other way and it got me out.

THis happened to me in snow/ice before I got air.  Until late december we didnt get any snow so I figured I could rock the Auto Coutures longer.  It was a mess, everyday I spent about 3 hours trying to get my car out of a small incline of ice.  The wheels would just spin and spin and all the nosey neighbors would watch out their windows instead of helping me.

Damn how low are some of your rides? My '91 Corrado had a full race suspension on it and a body kit and was probably no more than two inches off the ground and lucky enough it never got stuck. These are some cool stories though, I'm looking forward to telling mine when it happens.:smiley:

we have a hela longer wheelbase which contributes to the problem as well

That's true I didn't even think about it. That's crazy though, I'm looking forward to getting mine.

This is generally attributed to having a short stroke suspension.  Having a stiff chassis doesn't have much, if anything, to do with this phenomenon (LOL).

My 240 did it all the time...blame it on the JIC's short stroke.

Short stroke suspension also equals less pumps on the jack to get the wheels off the ground.

I knew it had to do with how my tire/wheel would barely sag when I jacked up the car. 

so what is the best way to defend this issue ?  (other than no driving up driveways). But man this is when front wheel drive would really help.

did you have one way coilovers or were they two way full tap coilovers ?

man...i hope i dont run into this problem. Dosnt the q45t have factory vlsd?

....  a stiff suspension will have  a lot to do with it my friend.. you can take an all stock car and put  stupidly large sway bars on it and have the same thing happen on stock struts :)
