can anyone explain disk sizes????

sorry if there was already a thread about it but i did a search and nothing came up.

i am confused about disk sizes. i know the purpose for them to clear big brakes and things of that nature. 

the question i have is what affect does it have on offset?

example if you have a 19x9 wheel +18 high disk it will fit different than the same wheel with at 19x9 +18 with a normal disk. right????? 

the normal disk one will have a slightly bigger lip????
will it stick out the same distance???

is there any where i can see the how much height difference in mm the super low, low, normal, and high disk are?

anyone who can clarify this for me i would greatly appreciate it.

O disk = low
A disk = standard (medium)
R disk = high disk
 
no matter what disk is on (for example) 19x9 +20 will fit the same. they just wont have the same lip size.
 
the pic in the bottom shows all the disk types listed above. they are put side by side. the back of the face at equal levels. just think of that pic being 19x9 +20. its showing you how it would look with all the disk types, lip wise and clearance

one more question.  is there a certain mesurement for the clearance of each disk size? so i cant tell which one i need?

wut would hyperdisk mean?  is that low or high instead of normal?

not sure, what company makes hyperdisk? the one example ice shown is from work wheels. other wheel companies use different terms when it comes to disk type.

from what i can remember, each disk type is 6mm difference from each other, but dont quote me on that. it also depends on the style of the face. flat face wheel, concave will affect the clearence also

ssr uses normal disk and hyperdisk....
 
to crooklyn:  according to the picture 0disk woud give the deeper lip.  that would mean superlow disk.  i think most manufacturers use super low to low to normal to high disk = deepest lip to shallowest lip accordingly.

of course the superlow, low, O-disk etc... like i said each company has their own ways of naming them.

It wont effect the offset but it will effect the size of the lip.  When you order your wheels u should order it through someone that knows what they are talking about it so u dont have to do the math on it just let them do it.

yeah thats what i figured. ever since i picked up phouc's cars. i have picked up two more sets of wheels. to daily drive on since the roads here suck and i didnt want to mess up the scara's. 

the first set i ordered was a set of ame's i tried to get as close to the offset as the scara's but ordered a high disk because i thought i needed it to clear the ls400 brakes. so that ended up giving me a smaller lip and way to much extra space for clearance.

then i got a used set of traffic stars. the fronts were a higher offset with a standard disk that only sat a little bit sunken in from where the ame's where so that caused me to ask the question i did. the traffic stars had a 10.5 inch rear with a +29 offset  versus my scara's that were 9 inch rears with a +23 offset. both worked well with the car which compounded my confusion. 

i guess all in all i need help on finding what will yeild me the largest lip for the set up i have. im in va and no one is even close to the level at which you guys are and what i was lucky enough to purchase from phouc in  ar-kan and the autofashion guys. so all your help in guiding me in the ways to continue it here is greatly appreciated.
