new wheels!

What do you mean about wheels that actually fit? What was on it before?
 
The wheels are nice, but it would have been good to get something with a little more dish IMO. Those Crowns can take some insane wheel widths under standard fenders, like 11" with zero offsets if i recall correctly.

i had brought another set of 19's but i was told the pcd was 114.3 but it was 112 and 120 so they went on but not properly. and before that i had a standard set of 15's so this is definetly  an improvment. when i can save some more cash i will get somethin with a shitload more dish but for now i am pleased considering this is my first modified car.

First modified car?! I agree its an awesome turnout... My first modded car was a shitty old celica haha...
 
One thing you will notice here, everyone is very particular about wheel fitment since its one of the defining factors of VIP styling.
 
You will also find that a good secondhand set of rims with insane dish isnt as expensive as you think! But you need patience (i waited 4 months)
 
 
But dont get me wrong the wheels look good. You can always give these wheels some more 'presence' with some spacers to give that Japanese 'flush' stance...

i was thinkin about getting some spacers but i wasnt sure if i should use just normal spacers(8mm or so) or go for a 25mm adapter. any ideas?

i am also goin to spend my week end tryin to remove the bump stops. has any one else done this and if so how much more drop am i looking at? plus i have to install my air bag gauges i'm sick of not bein sure if its the road or my car on a slant. so should be a fun couple of days

I assume those wheels have an offset of around 30-40 so i would go with the 25mm adapters. But if you bought normal sized tyres for the wheels you might come into clearance problems. This is why we run stretched tyres. Here is a pic of my car so you can see what i mean:

Notice how the tyre tucks under the fender while the lip of the rim doesnt? I get absolutely Zero issues with rubbing, even with 3 people in the back
 
 
Also, i dont think you can remove the bumpstop on an Air strut - they cant be pulled apart like a regular strut (unless you have an external bumpstop on the rear trailing arm like the Cima has. Either way its not recommended for air struts, because when fully deflated they tend to pinch and it damages the bags. Riding slammed on OEM air struts will ruin them in less than a year, and you dont want to know the replacement costs...
 
Air guages sounds like a good idea. You can also get an aftermarket air controller that shows you exactly what height you are at on all 4 struts; plugs into the airbag ECU with no modifications needed...

I am assuming you have the UZU130 Crown. I had the MS137 Crown(V6) when I was in Japan. Can't remember what offsets I had on the Crown, but I was running a 18X9 in the front and 18X10 in the rear(tires were 225/40/18 front, 235/40/18 in the rear). I had no spacers on the car at all.  You can get the Data System Air Sus controller installed on it. But the sad thing is that it takes about 5 minutes to raise and lower the car. I had posted my pics under the Toyota/Lexus forum called pictures of my Crown.

awesome thanx for all the help. just so you know it has a full aftermarket airbag setup with a 10 switch box up the front. my standard rear bags gave out at the start of the year and instead of gettin second hand ones and running into the same probs i upgraded the whole lot

Cool. What kind of body kit are you going to get for the Crown? I don't know if they still have the Evolution V3 bodykit. That was what I was going to get on my Crown for the final mod, but had to leave Japan in Nov 2003.

Aftermarket bags... thats cool. As for removing the bumpstops, you can probably get an extra 4cm or so, but it depends on the design of the bumpstop!
 
I would not remove it completely though, since doing so would likely blow the shocks pretty quick. You can cut them down though, i want to do that too...

i dont think i will get a body kit i really like the look of the car the way it is thats why i want the extra drop i may add a lip or something to the front and rear bumpers just so it looks lower but as for now it will be pretty standard. i forgot to mention that my bags have 1/2 inch lines and valves so it dumps and lifts pretty quick! and the reason i went for gauges instead of the electronic controller is 1. i got them with the kit and 2. its alot cheaper!
