cutting springs

I see so many people who cut their springs to get the desired ride height despite the obvious drawbacks of ride quality, but I was wondering where/how you guys go about cutting your springs? Do you do it yourself? Take it to a shop? If so, what kinda shop do you take it too? Standard import tuner shops or? And for those of you who have done this in socal where specifically have you gone? I appreciate the help, thanks.

i use an air powered cut off wheel. if you plan your cuts, you can do it without even removing the strut from the car. i bought 1.5" lowering springs, not low enough, so i cut another 1.5" off. the ride is fine until i hit large cracks or wavy pavement, then it sucks.
