Fast and Furious 4...no VIP cars

I saw this thread in another one of my car forums and so far it doesn't sound like they are putting any VIP cars in there. Thank goodness!
 
It sounds like they are focusing more around American muscle in Japan, but they they are going to have the R35 GTR in there. I'll probably go see it, but so far I'm not really too thrilled about it.

EDIT: come to think about it, this will be good for the people owning VIP cars now for resale value...hehe

actually i think imma stay away from this. ive hated the series but good for renting at home. ived had bad experience for part 2 when i saw it in theatres. kids were driving like mad in their lil rices before and after the movie.

I know. I think I remember someone mentioning how they were worried that the next Fast and the Furious was probably going to have VIP cars in it and that everyone was going to do it to their Civics. Since they already built the main cars for it, I think we can breathe easier. At least for now.

LOL i hear you about the theater kids...thats why I drove my old beater chevy astro to the first one.  The last 2 I just rented.

The movies are fine. 2hrs of Over the top [B]Entertainment.[/B] Yet, People treat these movies like they're documentaries or sumthing. :pat: Soooo many people bitched and moaned saying Tokyo Drift would ruin the drift scene for them. If a piece of [B]fiction[/B] can alter your love for a sport, you were never in love with the sport to begin with. 
 
 
If NASA didnt complain about Star Wars, then im ok with the FF series. :smiley: 
 
 
I went to see the last one in the theater here....hella People yelled out "Theres DriftGirl/DriftGirls car" . It was KINDA cool, but I left right before the credits rolled....I get nervous :sad:

We've tried.  We only have so much pull when it comes to those things.  

What Em stated is so true.  It's entertainment.  Look at it for entertainment value.  I hosted the premier of the first movie here in Hawaii and it was hilarious.  A whole theater full of industry people...cracking up everywhere..we all loved it.  Why?  It was entertaining..who cares if it was correct or not (mostly completely wrong..which made it funnier) we had a good time..that's what movies are about.  They may not have planned for us to like it for the reasons we did, but hey..still worked.  The second movie was the WORST.  Tokyo Drift I enjoyed.  There were several errors, but it was funny seeing my friends in the movie and their cars.  I missed Em's car the first time I saw it, but after I saw she said it was in there  I looked for it and saw it.  Keep an open mind guys..it's not a documentary like she said.

Big whoop, they should have at least done something cool, like rallying. That should cover every 'scene' here in the good old USA, besides actual road racing (race track, not street).

Jeez Mike, way to make me feel like a jerk. :smiley:  I was 15 when I saw the first fast and furious movie and I must say it was on the top of my list for summer movies when I saw it. I hear ya about the entertainment value. In the end I would just like to see a little more time and effort put into the research of the cars and the culture etc. But then again I would like to see more research done in a lot of the movies that get released, not just car ones (but that is neither here nor there). I am sure the next movie will be even bigger than the last. And I may have a laugh about it, and even crack a joke. But I am sure the movie industry will be my 8.50 one way or anther:dance: And I might even enjoy it.

It sounds like some promoting gimmick for the 'JDM Scene' anyways, since it's about JAPAN and not the US. Oh well, what do I know, Mr. Know-it-all is the one trying to shoot me down saying I don't know anything about anything. 

On the other hand, FnF3 was based in Tokyo, but that was on drifting.  Hey, they had muscle cars in there too! Oh....but then they, for some reason, swapped, what an RB26 in there? Why? Oh yeah, because it's the ultimate ricer dream motor. More like a pile of crap in a junk yard. 

Point being, they should have stopped with the first one anyways, this is going to end up like all the other suck movies that have come before it. Making lots of money of retarded 'jdm' fanboy's and then ending up in the garbage where it should be. 

Who knows, maybe they'll actually do some research this time, and make it more realistic, rather than make it a dreamed up fantasy and dress it up, only to end up as some retarded movie like the others have all been.

One more thing for you...it's a MOVIE.   It's not a documentary, wait..I said that already and so did a few other people.  See, I'm not "Mr. know it all" because obviously other people know it too.  I'm sorry you took what I said the wrong way..I didn't intend on that response.  My apologies... (Mr. know it all's don't apologize...yes, that was a joke, but the apology is real.)

Why is it that whenever someone who knows about something says something about that something...they get a few people calling them know it all's?  I mean SOMEONE has to know what that something is...right?  So if you say I don't know your cousin, or your brother, or aunt...uncle too maybe..and grandpa...you must be a know it all since you know all about them and I have no clue...  See how silly that sounds?  Why can't that cross-reference with any other subject?  I admit when I look back at how I posted it, it could have been perceived as pompous and that was wrong...I posted it quite quickly.  My bad...but consider what I said...

There's a difference between knowing about something, and offering that knowledge freely, when asked, and then the 'know-it-all' who presses what he knows every chance he gets. 

Besides, how can the American muscle car scene in Japan be bigger than in America? And by 200%? How can some country, that's the size of like california (that's an estimate, I don't know exactly how many sq. miles it is) hold way more knowledge, more cars, more heritage than this country who pioneered and engineered the 'muscle' car? 

Muscle cars are American, and belong to America. No country will ever top that scene here. Just like we won't be able to ever top Japan for 'vip style', we can only emulate it. Japanese can only emulate the US in AMERICAN Muscle. Just like Europe will forever hold it's reputation for exotics. 

Now if it is based on 'Domestic' muscle in japan, that's another story. It'll just be a fanboy movie on Supras and Rx7's and Skylines, Japan's big three. 

All in all, it'll still be a bad movie that deserves the garbage can.

I was making a reference that you mixed up a bit.  No big deal man.  I lived in Japan for several years and saw a passion for cars that we can't rival here in the US.  Imagine what you'd spend your money on if there was nothing to really spend on your house.  You'd most likely spend that money on your car...that's pretty much the gist of it.  I was only trying to tell you a little about their society which many people don't know..that's all.

The lowrider scene in Japan is actually almost like how the mexicans do it in LA...they really immense themselves in the culture.

I was actually about to say the same thing until you beat me to it.  I have seen some Lowrider Japan mags and they really do have a grasp on our cultures style on cars.  I also have a Japanese magazine called D-Car, It is a magazine about Sport Compact dress up, and the cars look like what the Ricers did in the earl '00's and how some still do today, however only way more over the top.

Those three cars are pretty gross but in the end there for a movie the more over the top the better is what there after I guess...lol

WOW i didnt know Mikes mustang was going to be in that ... I was never a fan of Fast and Furious so i probably wont watch this one either unless its free on tv =)

The movie started casting a week or so ago. 
 
It is not set in Japan but will have american muscle cars.
 
EVERYBODY is back from the original and its supposed to be in Brazil. Filming starts in Feb down in LA and then Mexico
 
The last move was a blast to work on and be a part of....i think part 4 will do well from the script tag lines and character castings ive read.

Everything was so wild and over the top...but [I]real[/I] at the ssame time. The cars were 'best of the best'. from grass roots S13 Drifters to full blown factory tuned Professional race cars.:runcoold:

^That had to be a cool experience and a lot of fun....I now realize that it was YOUR car that I drool over every time I watch that movie.  My girl and I have watched it a few times,.....she loves the Z's in it.  I actually enjoy Tokyo drift.  
The 2nd movie was awful, and the first one was entertaining even if it wasn't the greatest depiction of the scene.

Em, Your car is one of the few cars that I have obsessed about.  Power and Style....mmmmmm

The only way they could be somewhat interesting in a movie would be when a few black cars lined up are heading to a funeral or the stereotypical gangsters heading somewhere, similar to when Lucy Liu was getting transported in the in the black benz in Kill Bill, or DK's uncle in his benz in Tokyo Drift, but again those scenes were like only a few seconds out of a 2 hour movie. Hmm, both related to Yakuza members, go figure, but hey, you never know, there might be a scene where some kid decides put away their drift car to borrow their boss' vipcar and go get some booty. I'll still watch it for the entertainment value just like I did the other 3, and I admit the 2nd one was the least entertaining. I like the last one the most.

Funny about the timing of this thread... got the call today to start
"wrangling" parts for the cars... the first priority is the '68 Charger.

The Hero cars are pretty much locked-in, but there will be another
"casting call" in march for other/background cars. I'm working with 
three Japanese OEs for other vehicle placement (Subaru is not one
of them since they have no $ and they practically turned the new 
WRX into a Corolla).

No plans for VIP representation as of now... probably a good thing.

F&F 3 made $158M, so the movies do make money; someone apparently
watches them! I saw F&F 3 @ the Toyo premier party and rather enjoyed
it... can't take these things too seriously!

man i don't give a d**n if its about racing rc tonka toys if eva is in it i'm there. seriously though, they are entertaining and cheesey funny.

real talk FnF2 sucked. i enjoyed FnF3 cause i got to participate in the world premiere and the press activities. the movies aren't made to show exactly how the "scene" is but to entertain every one that goes to see the movie. now from what i understand from a few cast members and sources close to the director (FnF3), the movie will be based south of the border and be [U]based[/U] on the car scene down there. unfortunately i didnt get a whole lot of details, but i dont really care too much bout the details since i thought FnF3 was the last.... 
but all aside the movies were created to [B]entertain[/B] us and not tell the [B]exact[/B] truth of the car scene

yeah, everyone has resigned for this movie...which kinda rules me out. My agent tried to get a bigger role but said that there are a few big (bigger) names that want in. :sad: 
 
I have the full storyline and current cast list...its going to be pretty good. A couple things that fan boys will get all bent outta shape over but thats Hollywood!

another MOVIE....cool...these are always entertaining...my boys can't have enough Tokyo Drift when it came out on DVD...lol!!

after all thats why it was made.... to ENTERTAIN not explain a culture!!!

I`m actually looking forward to this movie, I enjoyed all the previous movies on a entertainment aspect, Not for realism.
There`s plenty of stuff a car nuts can put their fingers on in all the previous movies, but I choose to see past that and just enjoy the movie for what it is, easy entertainment. :biggthumpup:
