spacers/allignment?

.. quick question..need to add some spacers to my accord.. but shop told me to get it alligned first before they can add spacers.. i feel i should add the spacers and than do he allignment.. what do u guys suggest?..

front or rear?

rear.. front i am kinda doubting as i dont wanna damage the fenders
 
specs of wheels:
18 by 8 37(225/40)
18 by 8.5 35(225/40)
.. i know they are conservative but got a good deal on them for what they are..

i think the shop told you to get an alignment first before the spacers because normal people would want to get their camber and toe aligned (^_^)
HOWEVER, we dont classify as normal people and we dont want our camber to be realigned to factory spec cause we're VIP (-_^) d
if you get your camber corrected, then the width of the wheel spacers needed will change due to the top of the wheel be moved out more towards the fender lip

Either way, I would just get the toe aligned and tell them to leave the camber or whatever you want to do. after you get it aligned and everything set, measure and get the spacers required to get the right stance

tell them no..put your spacers on and then get your allignment done..tell them not mess with camber..and to make sure your toe is correct..if you have caster adjustments cool do that to.

funny thing is this place is one of the best aftermarket wheel shop  in socal..  the wheel supply.. i think the reason they might have told me to get allignment does it to get the just right size spacers u think?

no..just to make more money cause then once you putt your spacers on and make any adjustments  you will need another alligment.

Sorry, I just saw this now.  What size all depends on how you want the fitment to be.  One easy way and basic way is to take a piece of string/thread and put a weight on the bottom of it (use a fishing lead weight).  Then hold that on the outer or inner (depending on what you're going for) fender edge. (highest point of the radius) Then the weight will hold it straight down..  Then use a measuring tape to go from the point of the top of the wheel lip to the string.  Also go from the tire edge which sticks farthest out and do the same..since your tire stretch is minimal.  This way you can know how far you are from where you want to be and can then get the appropriate sized spacers and still allow for suspension travel.  That's the home brew method.

BTW..1 inch is about 25mm (25.4 to be exact)

thanks a lot for the input. .. ok so just measure from the tire to the outer fender line?.. my main aim is to sit flush with the fender. i will be rolling my fenders but i am just worried as the tires my be fat and would rub with how low i am ..i wil try to see what i can figure out but at the same time  i will post some pics that way u can help me figure it out too..

imo, you should just have them align it without putting your spacers. have it aligned to how you want it, then go from there so you can add exactly how thick a spacer you need. adding spacers isnt going to affect your camber, or your toe cuz its only pushing out the rim an even amount. BUt depending how thick a spacer you add to how much camber you put, it will lower the rear a little bit, not much but a little.

dont they usually align to factory specs?.. i mean i thought its better to add spacer and than take it to allign that way they know i want it exactly right flush with the fender.. if i do it ahead of time than wont it mess up as it all depends on what size spacer i get?

do u guys know any places where i could get 18-20mm spacers for 03 accord coupe?..its 5 by 114.3 lug..

eBay usually has some, but not always exactly what you want..here's some 15mm ones...might be best for you since you want to be a bit on the safe side:

you see if you install the spacers, and have then align it to the spacers, what if when its flush your camber isnt within specs and your toe is off? or you dont have a thick enough spacer and now the rear has positive camber. 

have you rolled and pulled the rears yet? you can fine tune the rears to how you want it. align it to how you want it (cambered, or within spec) add the spacer, then roll and pull it for a flush look.

i have yet to rol the fenders.. shop where i am going to get the fenders rolled are going to add spacers at the same time
