should i do it? (sell my benz for its big bro?)
as most of you know, im in the process of building a wald 190e. i got the car for $3500 (a steal) and i got offered $6000 for it with the kit uninstalled. if i sold my car for any other car itd be a e300 benz (v8.. 190 bigger bro). i found one for $5k. basically leaves me at a base platform to start over.. but with a bigger car.
the reason i got the 190 over the e class is bc 190 is a v6 (w00t for mpg!) and the wald shit is so rare.
would u do it?

I don't think that deal is going to come around again. If you were planning to get rid of the car in the future, I would say do it now while someone's offering.

car after shipping and registration - $4200

avantegarde grille/window visors - $200
tune up - $300
but i dunno if itd be worth it all to start all over with a bigger/better(?) platform.

Re: should i do it? (sell my benz for its big bro?)
I say if you are coming out on top, then sell.
But if you are really set on making this 190E the best 190E out there, then dont. You will end up regretting it later.
It seems like you have solid plans for your car now and parts are already there.

Re: should i do it? (sell my benz for its big bro?)
I say stick with the current 190e. You have the Wald kit there (already extra points for you) wheels and suspension ideas already set up. It sounds like a sick project in the making, and would you really want to throw it all away and start over again?

Re: should i do it? (sell my benz for its big bro?)
^^^agreed i would also go with the 190 for lordy lord you have a near impossible wald kit and half way into it why stop.
I dont know it just seems futile to throw out what you already gained and start all over again stay with the 190 you will thank us later.

Re: should i do it? (sell my benz for its big bro?)
personally, I'd go with the 300e.
I strongly feel that car SIZE is crucial, IMO mid-size to full size is a must for the style that we are into.
I still do a double take when I see a nice fixed up 300e on the road.
the 300E was the first car that really turned me on to fixed up sedans, it's a classic and it still looks stunning when done right.
I say drop it, black out the bottom panels-front and rear bumpers, smoke out the tail lens lamps, get a flush trunk trim panel and a set 18" staggered deep dish wheels.
again I strongly feel that SIZE is a must for the style we are into. The 190 is just too small IMO. If you could sell it at a profit then SELL IT!

thanx so much for posting this. initially when buying my car, the thing that sold me on the 190 was it being a v6. with gas being how it is these days, and me driving so much.. i wanted something to accompany this. i wanted a w124 bc i LOVED how big they were compared to the 190e ... but i didnt want a v8. i guess i passed right over the 300e. im gonna sell my car and pick up a good condition black 300e as soon as i find the right one.
sold and SOLD.
ill just do the wald thing with that one :D

Also agreed that is something to look into funny i probably would have thought of that first but oh well now its thought out.
Also think about it as you said you dont wanna fight with high prices on fuel well getting a big bodied v8 wont help and you
will be running a premium on that ahh >:( i don't think you wanna try that route but hey its all good buuddy.

Any issues with the car you have now? mechanically wise...
If you have a solid car that runs good, I might stay with the current car. ;)

Re: should i do it? (sell my benz for its big bro?)
he mind as well get a 300e by the time he spends all the money to make his 190e look the size of a 300e.
the 300e is still a nice platfom to do it up vip style. This particular model had a huge influence in the sedan segment for alot of auto manufacturers. In fact, The 300e and the S class of that time had a huge influence on alot of japanese luxury sedan designers. It was these cars (300e and S class) that they try to emulate.

Remember the og AMG 500E...? Saw one for the first time in years the other week in front of my place (there's a yoga studio above the shop, so it prob belonged to some old yuppie). I didn't remember how wide that thing was, but dang... those front fenders were flared quite a bit. Same can be done to a 300E...
