The "perfect tire" will depend on what you're trying to fit and how you're trying to fit it. What kind of stance are you looking to achieve? Any pics of what you want or what it looks like now?

its a maxima (fwd) so its kinda like that. not really sure what ppl do but i'm tryin my hardest to get an ill stance/fit and an 8" wheel will let me get a decent offset. i feel you though, no offense taken. i might not need to though, i'll probably rock a 215/40 at first and work from there.

i can handle 9"f/9.5"r max but i would have to run a 35-40mm offset. so what do y'all think wider w/ less offset or less width and more offset?

*edit* btw its a 98 maxima.

Whatever yields most depth imo
No sense if going too wide and maybe causing yourself problems if you're going to have the same face depth in the end.

205/40/18 is going to look ultra small on a 98 maxima.

I've got 215/35s on a 18x8. It's definitely not a stretch. To stretch on a 8 inch wide wheel is gonna cost you traction; you're looking at like 195s or 205's

it does, but not for 18's

14's and 15's you can get tires thin enuf for stretch on a 8 in wide wheel:giggity:
