Cheap Temp Wheels
My car officially sank to beater status when I painted my steelies and left the wheel covers in the garage.:pat:
But my shop is having a show and I want to register, and not look like a completely stock Protege with an A'PEXi exhaust.
So I flipped through my suppliers' catalogues and started looking for a cheap set of wheels to fill the gap between the winter steelies I've been rolling on all summer, and the imported luxury wheels that are on their way, eventually (it's like having a baby!).
After all my ranting and raving against Rota and Sportmax, and other knockoff artists, I'm avoiding those brands. (though the Sportmax 501 is still really tempting...)
BSA seems to have some nice designs that aren't ripoffs (as far as I've found).
Now, I know you guys don't normally do tuner wheels, but also know a lot you have experience with sportcompact tuning, and ya'll have good taste too:biggthumpup:
So I'd like to see your opinions on these wheels before I pick a set and order them in.

BSA 233 17"

CAM 356 17"

BSA 364 17"

BSA 262 16"

BSA 315 16"
I won't be offended if this goes into OT, it is completely unrelated to Vip anything, I'm not going to attempt an aggressive fit, and I'm not lowering my car yet.
I just want something nice and conservative that will improve the appearance of the car until winter. Next year the "real deals" should be ready to go and these can be used for road trips or autocross..

i had the Rota Circuit 8's on my 240 (sport bronze on a white s13 hatch) and i loved them. they are light and well made and at about $95 a pop you can't beat the price. tires and mounting cost more than the rims. if you're looking something temp and inexpensive, i'd give the Rota's a second look.

I would just buy a used set of wheels besides this alternative. You can get a lot of nice brand name used wheels close to the same price more then likely.

Normally I would smack my head but you have been here for quite some time and I know you will get it right. Id go with the 262. I like the concave face and its a simple design that can't really mess up the look of your car, its a neutral looking wheel. I would stay far away from fake multi-piece wheels.

DONT BOTHER. You're going to spend about 500 for wheels and tires, why not just leave that money to sit in the bank......don't give into the itch to spend money on 'pointless' parts for your car....ITt's tough not to spend money you have lying around....save it up for that air ride!

can't your shop just let you borrow a set or something? if you have catalogs of wheels that you guys bring in i am sure you will have some 4x100 laying around.

Although those rims do resemble other rims like "SSR Shumacer,Axis,Advan" I think,if they're only temporary I'd go with #233 or #315.oh yeah,I'm also feeling the same way you are about buying temporary wheels.I was gonna buy some wheels for a car show this month in Maui but I thought about it and decided not to.because it would push me back further away from getting my air suspension "almost there".but do what you gotta do.

Are you going to lower it as well? Cos stock height with just exhaust and wheels looks a little ghetto IMO.
What about those Herreborani or whatever they are, arent they cheap?

if u have sweet hook up, then why are u asking about these knock off wheels ?
knock off wheels go completely against VIP style theory-belief, it represents everything VIP is NOT. Especially knock off wheels because it's so obvious.

I didn't realize these were knockoffs, I don't know the originals of these, my bad.
Anyways, like I said before, these aren't taking the place of high-end wheels, they're taking the place of steelies.
Even if my high-end wheels were on the car now, I'd still get a cheap throwaway set for like I said, long road trips, and abusive driving.
As for the money thing, don't worry, these aren't going to be denting my savings for serious car stuff ;)
