So you want to see actual - CAmber Wear?? Look inside!!!

Time for new tires all ready!..has been what three maybe four months and look at the effects of -5+ camber wear on my rear tires..both sides look the same. If only I caught it soooner I could have had them fliped and got another 3 months maybe.???

Goes to tell you folks if you are running camber check your tires frequently..so this does not happen to you..- camber does eat up your tires...even when toe and caster is correct!

Notice the rest of the tire shows great alignment wear no saw patterns..just effects from - camber...

What can I say gots to pay to play....I was thinking now would be a great time to try maybe a 235/35/19 in the rear..right now I am running 245/35/19 on a 10.5" wheel...I could use the extra clearance but dont know If I want anymore of the barrel sticking out and not sure how much lower that would drop my car..I cant afford much more drop not even MM...hhhmmm maybe I will stick with a 245/35..It seems like Dunlops run a bit bigger than falkens in the same size tires?? Any body know???? I have read such negativity about falkens and their sidewalls having bubbles that dont want to have that problem either..maybe I just get another set of dunlops but in a 235/35....lots to think about ???

YEP! That's exactly how my fronts looked but WORSE!!! and I had that jagged look w/ tire metal showing, but no sparks! Lucky! (I should have took a pic, but I was too embarassed).
[You definatly have to pay to play "VIP" and it sounds like 4-5 months is the average on tire ware w/ camber!

Wow! Good thing Falken tires are cheap (what I am going to buy)
that isht is scary looking..
4 to 5 months isn't too shabby though, considering -5 is a lot of camber, and you do drive your car a lot right? Maybe mileage would be a better reference point..

Sucks to see that. Atleast you caught it before you jacked up your wheels on an express way going 60mph.

Jumping down from a 245/35/19 to a 235/35/18 is a 7mm difference in diameter.

I got a little under 6000 miles on them..if I flipped them about 1000 miles earlier I probably would have gotten another 5000 miles totaling about 10,000 miles..thats my guestamet..I have been driving it more and more lately..Especially now that school is back in.. I put my kids in a private school and so I have pick them up every day and with my other things I have to do...it has deff become more of a daily driver these days. My wife drives the SUV cuase she scarred to drive my car and where she works the speed bumps are not VIP friendly...so nobody drives my car cept me...but overall I have learned to make sure I check my tires every few weeks to make sure all is well..These are the personal learning experiences that will help me moving forward..

I have had trouble finding somewheres to mount the size tires that I want..they think I am crazy on the phone..HAd to actually go show one shop that I allready had a 24535/19 on a 10.5" wheel..and guess who it was...Discount Tires..there is one close by so I was talking to what appeared to be the manager and he siad if you have that size on there now we will give it a shot...So luckly I have found someone close by...the only thing is my tire options as of tomarrow are Falkens 452 245/35/19 or Kumhos 235/35/19 or falkens 235/35/19....

I am pretty sure that falkens run smaller than the dunlops I have now so I guessing It will have more of a strech than the falkens via the same size?????????comments???????

Go with the Kumhos. Falken 452's will actually be bigger given the same size plus Kumhos are a popular tire that people stretch the shit out of.

Every 4-5 months having to pay for tires.........that is just nuts. Also I believe I read "Falkens are cheap"? You must be ballin cause I sure can't afford to be buying new tires every 4-5 months....I am broke as it is. LOL But if you want the look and can afford the look then why not right? Can't justify it myself but once again.....I am so broke I can't even afford to pay attention.

ohhh, i been there and done that too.
prolly the best bet for those who camber, would be best to wrap nitto neo gen

click here for NITTO NEO GEN info

BTW, im not a vendor, or trying to promote "there" business here on vsc, im trying to help ourselves.
hope they have yur size. ;)

from there site

The Neo Gen is an all-season ultra high-performance radial specifically engineered for lowered vehicles. Because the inner shoulder is one continuous block, the tread maintains stability on lowered vehicles with higher degrees of negative camber. This stability reduces tread flex and allows the tire to wear evenly. The result is a tire that prolongs performance on lowered vehicles.
Performance Rating: V W
UTQG Treadwear: 280
Traction: AA
Temperature: A

Hehe, sure, buying any kind of tires that often isn't cost effective, but Falkens are some of the cheapest tires.

so you never flipped these tires ? I'd be happy if I can get 10,000 miles out of them with a flip.

it actually looks like you got some good wear out of the rest of your tire surface. It look like maybe 30 percent left on the rest of the tread. I think if you flipped it, then for sure u would have got more use out of them.

unlike the other scion guy, he had like 90 percent tread left on the rest of his tire surface. That would be a waste.

yeah not to bad it would have taken me a few more months but thats cool..I am pretty sure at this point no matter what tires I decide on,,will still have this same effect..- camber = faster tire wear..

Was that the rears?

When i first read 4 months i thought "damn thats bad" but 5000 miles is about 8000km, which is almost as much as i have driven in 1 yr.

6000miles would be good tyre life IMO. Fuel is about US$1/Litre here and I get about 250miles per 65L. So over 6000miles i go through over $1500 of fuel. Makes buying new tyres look pretty cheap!!!

Cars cost money. Oh well.

Btw, zion dont bother asking people to stretch tyres on the phone. Just find out if they have the tyre size you want and go down there. Its alot harder for them to say no when you are waving the green in their face!!

Bippu... How much are Nittos? They seem like a good idea...

Pancakes, that might be because with air you are hardly ever at a single height - you can be slammed, riding normal, or riding high. With coilovers its easier to be aligned for a specific height and know those settings wont change

In my case, the camber is exactly the same up front when the car is full up and slammed. I cant look at my camber wear because I dont currently have the car though.

Here is the pics of the fronts..Both are tires are Identical in wear. The fronts look
just about new still compared to the rears. Crazy how -2 degrees would make that much a difference..makes me wonder if I am over -5 in the back?? Very very little tread wear and very little camber wear..

I didn't have any uneven wear for my fronts which are Falken FK452 225/35/19's on 19x9, but I do have a pic of my 300 mile old 225/35/19 Falken FK452 that already has inner sidewall separation, that I'll post one day. :( Here's the rears.

Work Euroline 19x10, Falken FK452 235/35/19, 1000 miles used at -7.5 degrees camber in the rear

We get more wear up front...[/quote]I didn't have any uneven wear for my fronts which are Falken FK452 225/35/19's on 19x9, but I do have a pic of my 300 mile old 225/35/19 Falken FK452 that already has inner sidewall separation, that I'll post one day. :( Here's the rears.

Work Euroline 19x10, Falken FK452 235/35/19, 1000 miles used at -7.5 degrees camber in the rear

Some points i thought of today while getting alignment done (all this talk got me scared lol)

1. With excessive camber, we all know we need 0 toe, but do you know the stock suspension bushes give freeplay meaning that when you coast, your wheels toe out? and toe in when you accelerate? I think the solution is to replace all arms with pillowball arms because this removes suspension freeplay

2. extra pressure in the tyres will cause the centre of the tread to baloon out slightly to spread the load. Of course this means the very outside wont touch at all, but still worth considering...

3. Tyre treadwear and the tread design on the shoulder is probably something we should be taking into consideration...

Thoughts??

Toe should be at 0.

Yea, for the front I've already replaced my tension control rods with pillowball rods and my upper strut mounts with pillowball camber mounts. Not sure what else I could change myself, maybe to pillowball outer tie rod ends? The rears I have the upper camber arms, and pillowball toe links, I am thinking of getting the traction rods, but like I asked about how necessary they are, most suggested that most alignment shops wouldn't know what to do with adjusting that along with the toelinks, but like you said, it is another rod that can replace a bushing. Extra pressure in the tires might be a good idea, I'm just not sure what psi is more prone to sidewall separation that I keep experiencing with the FK452 tires, but again I think my personal problem with those tires is just too low of a load rating. Tire shoulder design, I can only speak on Falken FK452 and Falken ST115, and the ST115 is more rounded off for fender clearance, but on the inner sidewall, it is more likely to ride on the sidewall, depending on amount of camber.

hmm we need to consider getting a full adjustable suspension setup for the y33 that would incorporate all pillow ball mounts and be made out of chromoly steel for strength. "Goes to the drawing board" will return in a few weeks.
