ATM fees to increase

Bank of America raises ATM fees:

http://money.aol.com/news/articles/_a/bank-of-america-hikes-atm-fees/20070913081309990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

So apparently there is an uproar about the fees going from $2 to $3 for non-Bank of America customers that use a Bank of America ATM.

To me I could care less. I rarely use cash, and if I do need anything I would go to the nearest Walgreens/CVS and buy a pack of gum and take out cash using my debit card.

Does the fee increase really bother anyone? Hell I wonder why people are always upset that the postage stamps go up about 2 cents every 5 years.

What's wrong with it? I have 3 different "Bank of America" accounts (regular, military, and overseas community bank). Its pretty stupid, but in my situation I didn't have much of a choice. Either way I haven't had any problems with them. Then again I just have a simple checking and savings account.

I haven't had any problems with BofA. I guess people are mad because there are so many BofA ATM's so even if you aren't a BofA customer it was convienient to use them.

www.usaa.com

It is, and I've got it as well. I have no idea why I need so many basic accounts. I guess I should look into closing a couple of them :pat:

Doesn't Compass Bank offer free ATM fees at any ATM as well?

Compass, Bank of Texas, and Capitol One. Not sure if wachovia is but they are offering a free 75.00 gift card to Academy when you sign up for an account. Lots of banks offer free atms nationwide now. The bank I work for pays the fees once you bring in the receipts.

keep in mind those 'free' atm services have a service fee at the end of the month of like 6-10 dollars.

I do, Bank of the West, and a couple others do it, or may have. They may have stopped after I quit with them.
