What should I do? Comments Please!

Ok I am about the time for some new rear tires and I would like to get smaller front tires as well ..the thing is I was saving up for aero and to paint and finish my fenders...
The question is this..now that I do need tires should I

1) take the $ and time now to have them dismounted and refinished/polished and have the molding painted and fenders smoothed out and painted..then buy tires after its all said and done..

Or shall I just 

2) get the new tires now and continue to save for aero and paint????


this would meen rolling on the stockies again..for a few months...I would have to raise her back up and just chill for a little bit while shes in the shop but at one hand I think that I should do #1 on the other hand I think #2 sounds good but as low as I like to roll I dont know if aero will work for me..???????? I think if I went with option 1 my car would look more complete and if I go with option 2 I still need to have my wheels polished eventually cuase you know how it is with us VIP enthusiats..things need to be perfect..and I have to many curb dings on two my why wheels now that its starting to get to me.....

#1 all the way, you car pulls off the no kit great. so get everything else perfect and squared away then go for the final touch with aero if you still decide you want it.

Might as well just get the front later if you don't need them right away.

What size are your wheels and what specs are you lookin to get? (Curious)

wheels are are 19x9 +11, 19x10.5 -8..tires are 225/35/19,245/35/19
 
specs I was looking to get are 215/35/19,235/35/19

Fix your tire situation...then do the rest later.  So I guess that's #1 right?  Haha..

i would do #2...no rush to finish everything...main thing is to make sure everything is done right

Yeah either way my stockies need new tires so either way I buy all four or just two for now...I dont think I have quite enough saved to have the fenders completed up RIGHT..I may just have to replace the Quarter panel from what my bro sais...or I could use bondo but that cracks if you hit right???? I haite to drive on stockies to ...eeuukkk..plus in order for the shops to properly fit my fenders I need the perfect size tires so that they no how much to work with..and thats one thing I am taking into consideration at this time as well..I think a 235/35/19 would work better for me than a 245/35/19..a little more clerance and then I would know more or less what tire works best and build around the wheeels and tires...no rush...my wife sais to me I am going to have to just by another car and just make the Q a show car...and the weekend cruises of course..its allways hard making these decisions...
 
by the way you ever tried a 235/35/19 on  a 10.5" wheel?

i say get your quarter panels re-done  and refinish the black sides and rear.. how much is the shop charging you? only if you were closer to SD i would've gave you a good deal! :biggthumpup:

well some have told me I needed a new quarter panel to do it right..others said they could bondo it..by the looks of thier face both seemed expensive..I was hoping around $500 bucks to have it all done but in order to have the fenders done correctly for proper fitment I need tires so they can do what they gotta do..so I think I may just get the tires for now..then really go and get a serious estimate and take it from thier..

as I've been suggesting all along, just PAINT YOUR oem SIDE SKIRTS !!! it looks good as it is,  the painted sideskirts will change everything.

forget the bodykit, you'll just open up a new can of worms.

its hard to tell from the pictures, but if you take some really good high quality and close-up pics i can get you a precise estimate. i can't really tell how much labor i would have to put in with the pictures you posted before. let me know wassup :biggthumpup:

YEah dude your probably right...I guess sometimes we want it all..its like an artist painting a picures..sometimes they are thier biggest critics..and or dont know when something is good..

SO I decided to just go with all four tires for right now....SO I get to discount tires and they have some jerk off working thier telling me know they cant do it..it wont fit...I said hello I came yesterday and allready discuessed this with the manager and he even order the tires to be installed today..He said he does not know what he is talking about..then tries to break out this book telling me thay the smallest they could run is a 265/35..I said fool walk out side and let me show you...what I am running right now..we went outside he siad I I I I i  I i I dont know how its on thier,,,it should not be on thier..as if the tires are miss marked..stupidity yo...Then he goes back and I speakes to todays mangaer and finally they say they will put on a 245 but not a 235..and I sais why once again..anyways a big waiste of time we got into it and then they said that discount will not mount anything smaller on a 10.5" wheel than a 265 period..So I sais cool then I will go somewheres else..I was going to even buy the fronts to match..stupid prick...

Now the thing is where the F am I supposed to go..I am going to have to look for a small mom and pop shop maybe or an offroad shop where they streched big aass tires all day..but in the mean time I am goint to have to ride stock...what a freaken pain in the ass this is..Have wheels have money and no one to mount tires....I know I will find somewhere to do it its just a pain in the ass if you know what I mean...

You can go to Ultra Performance. Ask for Lance or Joe. They mount Stretched tires all day for me and friends. At fee of course though.

in socal there's a lot of mom and pop shops that would mount smaller tires on bigger rims. discount tire, firestone, and all those other big tire companies try to avoid doing this because they don't want to be responsible for anything bad happening

I think u should go with #2 and just keep saving.

Damn, normally showing them how you already have stretched tyres is enough. 
 
THe last place i went to were willing to experiment even, but it wasnt busy... maybe thats the key? 225/40 too fat, so he went down to 215/35 and that still went on nice and easy

Go somewhere where they mount atv and truck tires.  They have beedblasters and can get them on easily.  Thats what I did when I got a blowout in west bubafuck Pennsylvania.  Everyone in the shop stopped what they were doing to come watch them try to get the tire on.

it depends how much bondo is needed....1/2" bondo is no biggie...and i doubt you will even need that much...it won't crack if they prep the panel right and make sure your tire/rim doesn't smack against your quarters...
 
it will be wayyyy to much $$$ to replace your quarters...you're talkin' at least 10+ hours to replace each quarter and that's being generous...too bad i don't live near you...i'd be a fun side job...haha

Yesterday it almost ended up being the same for me and my usual tire mounter. He's done FK452 225/35/19's on my 19x9's, but yesterday he started giving me a lecture on how its not safe to run this ST115 245/35/19 on the 19x10, when he just dismounted the FK452 235/35/19 from it. I guess the ST115 stretch just looks wild compared to the FK452. He saw it and was like "Your not planning to drive on these wheels are you?!", "You know the cops are just going to pull you over and give you a repair order!", "You know they make wheels that fit your car right?!" and he just kept going and going even though he went on with finishing all 3 tires I brought for mounting. I told him I needed the stretch for the fender clearance and he looked at me like I was an idiot and didn't know jack about choosing the right tires. I'm sure if he saw the car they're going on, he'd be mindboggled, but I'm sure he'd still be an ass about it. Now I'm planning on bringing my 4th this Saturday, and I guess I'll have to put up with him again, hopefully he'll mount it. I have to find a backup tire mounter as well.

what's wrong with 1/2" of bondo...i realize the recommended thickness of bondo is like maximum 1/4" or something but i stand by what i say...it depends of where the bondo is layed and how the panel is prepped (i.e. grind the panel to bare metal)...i do agree 1/2" of bondo is a little extreme but can be done, easily, for the sake of saving time shaping metal...i work with this stuff on a daily basis and cars that come through wanting discounts and need the job out asap, we will use 1/2" if need be. there was a body man who did a '57 t-bird using tons of bondo...the insurance adjuster specializing in old restorations used a high powered magnet and it didn't stick anywhere...he didn't mind insuring the car 
 
BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes don't mind coming to our body shop :)

That is alot of bondo but as long as the fender doesnt hit the tire what so ever then it shouldn't crack.  I had about 1/4 on mine and they cracked back when I was on springs but that was with constant rubbing when I would do food shopping with a passenger.
