SSR wheel discs and brake clearance
Does anyone know how much brake clearance each SSR disc has?
Mainly I want to know if Super Low disc will clear some factory brakes. They are pretty small rotors/calipers and the calipers protrude 14mm past the rotor hat surface.

According to the website, the difference between slo and normal disk is 13mm on the Vienna Dish...
I dunno if that will help, but I felt like looking it up

kinda on the topic. a low disk and a high disk of the same size/offset will have the same size lip correct? the difference is in the contour of the face right?

Not usually...
Only the no-lip wheels have a variety of faces usually.

you positive about this? what would be the difference between a high and low disk of the same size/offset then?

Id say 90% of the time you will have less lip on hi disk vs low disk for the same width and offset. It depends on the manufacturer, not all wheel companies have the same specs. Im more familiar with AME and Work, theyre similar in their specs.

huh... i see. so why do they differenciate between high disk in 1 offset and low disk in the same? i thought i understood, but apparently not.

^that was while you were posting.
ahhh. but if you measure the lip it looks like it would be the same between the 2. just the illusion of a bigger lip on the low disk.
*edit* and a little difference in the thickness of the spokes, but the mounting point is the same.

Yep, that's the idea. Mounting point (and therefore the offset) stays the same, but the back of the spokes are further away from the brakes.

The width of the wheel doesnt change nor does the offset. SO figure your gaining brake cleanace by going with a high disc but where are you getting that clearance from? Those extra 13mm are being taken off of the lip size. Hope that makes it alittle easier to understand.

The width of the disc is changed for each choice High disc, Normal, Super Low.
SSR also provides the thickness of the discs as well. Center cap to the mounting pad. They don't provide the caliper clearance measurement from what I can find.
Anyone have SSR wheels that can measure the caliper clearance on Super Low?

Have you contact Tanabe about your wheel questions? Talk to Reggie. He knows the measurements of all their wheels. He is going to want to see a diagram of your brake setup.
