D2 Racing coilovers for UCF10

has anyone ever heard of D2 racing coilovers before? i think i have the name sounds familiar but i cant remember for sure. well i found some for my ucf10 and and wanted to ask around to see if anyone knew anything about them.

i know a lot of maxima guys run em. dampening/ride height adjustable w/ camber plates.

yeah i think they come with camber plates front and rear. i just wanna know about ride quality while slammed.

these are all maxima and they are more performance oriented but maybe it'll help.

Damping is horrible on those and dont last long. Same as Ksport coilovers. It probably comes with pillowball mounts but not camber plates because you cant even adjust it from there anyway. Ive had ksports on another car and my buddy has them on his A33 maxima. Id go with Megans at the very least if you cant afford jic vip.

d2 and ksport do not use the same buildhouse as Megan. Megan uses the same buildhouse as A'PEXi for their lower end coilovers. Cant recall the name though.

No, it's all the same. TRASH. Go with at least some tein cs. It's not that much more, and so much better.

I wouldn't trust a 3500LB car on D2's/megan/k-sport.

Have you honestly tried all to justify your reasoning? Id still pick Megans over over tein CS because of the fact its dual height adjustable, will go lower, and easier to get replacement shocks, besides the fact its cheaper. I dont really see the point in the weight comment either. Ive seen even lowly d2/ksports beat up on tracks without completely failing other then the shocks prematurely dying out. Any damper tuned to the weight of its spring should not have a problem with the weight of the vehicle if the spring rate is properly selected for the application. Personally, im not a fan of single height adjustable coilovers if youre gonna slam the car. Besides Tein cs are made for ucf20.  :biggthumpup: Either way, like I said, id just save for jic vip. We arent driving civics and 240s here.

This is the company from where Megan Racing actually gets there coilovers from...thats not d2...nor does d2 have any relations or comparable quality when it comes to "budget" coilovers...if you have done any research its shown that mainly with the d2 coilovers people had many issues with the coilovers being either too stiff or the camber plates would slip...as for the megan racing coilovers...ive ran these myself...and these are great coilovers...many fine adjustablities...from hieght, camber and damping. Plus the quality is far from poor...So whether we are driving 240sx and civics or not.....it comes down to finding a company that you can trust and your wallet can handle.

well ill call them tomorrow and see if i can get a set for my 1st gen LS. but as far as i know they only make them for the 2nd gens
 
i guess guys with DSM's (eclipses, talons, 3kgt's) use them too. from the reviews ive been reading/researching megans do out-perform D2's and i called a distributor today and asked about ride comfort at a LOW ride setting and he said it's be pretty harsh just like any other "racing" coilover. so the MEGAN's are a comfy ride slammed?

I don't know how people burn on these coilovers if they've never had first hand experience.

Thats why i stated that from my research people had these issues i pointed out with the d2 coilovers....and i also pointed out that i have used megan racing coilovers and they are by far the best for the budget with no manufacture issues or quality..even people that had rode in my car or drove it stated that it was a comfortable and solid ride with the proper settings.

when i had my xB, i had the D2 CO, and it did what it needed to do. even thou its manufactured in taiwan, it has 36 way adjustability. it had the front camber plate and adjustable dampner for the front and rears which was easy to adjust. they do ride a bit harsh, but they will keep you on track.
i didnt care too much for the anodized purple color, but it grew on me after awhile.
D2 and KSPORTS are alike functionally. except for the color, purple vs. orange.

i know a lot of maxima ppl jumped on the k-sports cause they were really cheap for a while. seems like theres a ton of shocks blowing out QUICK. i have also heard that the d2/k-sports are the same thing.

so youre saying megans ride well when slammed? b/c i will be slammed all the time and i dont want a harsh ride

just talked to the guy at [URL]http://www.undergroundmotorsports.com/[/URL] and found out i can get a set of megans for my 1st gen so thats a plus. so right now its between Megan and JIC. ive been told megans will be comfortable slammed and ive seen feedback on here for JIC's being comfortable slammed so it comes to warranty, future parts replacement costs and finally initial price which i found some brand new JIC's for a REALLY good deal BUT thats still like 500-600 more than megans.......we'll see

Since megans are dual height adjustable ride quality will not be changed with different heights because you never lose travel. If it were like a tein cs of jic sf1 where you lose travel the lower you go, thats where it can become harsher as the ride goes lower. UMsports is a good company, thats where I got my megans from for my old car. Shipping was free and fast when I got mine a couple years ago.

Megans don't ride well when slammed. I had them on an s13, and didn't like it. I switched over to Kei-Office/DG5, and the difference was night and day. megans were bouncy, and that 'damping' adjustment was not very easy to tune, you could barely feel the clicks, it was almost smooth and if you didn't pay attention to it, you could actually set all four corners to different numbers really easy. 

I had friends with k-sports/D2, and it didn't go low enough for our tastes. 

I've also had Tein FLEX on my GS. Tein FLEX is where you want to be. I didn't even lower it passed the factory setting and it was already only a 1 finger gap on my stock 16's.  I easly could tuck those wheels, and scrape EVERYTHING when I lowered it. 

I only threw out the CS option, to show that for the money you are spending on the 'bad' coilovers, you could get a decent coilover.

one of the vendors im talking to said he has TEINs on his S13 and its harsh. hes also had megans and JIC's and he recommends megans b/c of price/qualityor bang for buck and ive heard this from 2 different vendors:biggthumpup:

I have D2s on my AW11 MR2; I needed the height adjustment, and there 
aren't many choices as far as coilovers for this car.

I was impressed by the quality of construction, pillow-ball mounts, etc.

Another thing I liked was that you can adjust the ride height without changing
the pre-load on the springs. The entire shock body is threaded; you simply
move the McPherson-to-hub mount up & down to adjust the ride height!

I haven't driven on them yet; I needed to install them to set the ride height
for fender stretching & complete paint job (the car is stripped, no engine
or trans, sits high otherwise).

Don't know much about the D2s when it comes to Lexus applications, though.

megan racing ftw...when you order coilovers let me know RotaryAE86. maybe we can get in on a purchase of more then one we can get them from ums for sure.

My friend is running D2s on his Integra. I dont really think you should go for them, especially for a UCF. His car is slammed and its a really bumpy ride. Its more for tuners/sport compacts imo.

im running megan coilovers on my ucf10 and they are great.. the ride is smooth even with a loaded car and slammed
