Tire question

Hey quick question. With how low I am right now, (and my goals to go lower), Im going to need to stretch my tires.  Right now my fitment isnt favorable to stretching since they wheels are only 16x7, but is there any tire out there that would give me a LITTLE stretch at least.  Throwing off the speedo wont matter.  Like a 185/40/16 or anything?  Its for my Scion xB.  The offsets are decent for my fitment (well +15 front, and +5 rear), so Id prefer not to ditch the wheels.  (I know its not a crazy wide ass fitment, but its good enough for now). I can get spacers if needed to get more flush. Its pretty well flush as it sits now.  I just need a tire if possible to stretch onto the 16x7 Works I have.  Im rocking 195/50/16s now and its a little chubby. If anything, Ill at least need lower profile tires. Any recommendations?

conti makes some odd 195/45 and 195/40 and even smaller. Im gonna IM my bro Dan, hes the fucking tire master. he'll have info for you.

with a 16x7 wheel you are going to need a tire that isnt so square in the shape of the sidewall if you want it to appear a touch stretched. Continental makes 195/40/16 which is the smallest 16" tire. Unfortuanetely the Conti's are inherently square as far as the sidewall goes and require a wider wheel to give them the right "pull" to give the effect you are after. Dunlop makes the SP9000 in 195/40/16 and they have a non "square" sidewall.. those would probably be your best bet but they are unfortunately not available readily in the US. you will have to import them from Europe or Japan.

the rear wheel shows the difference a non "square" sidewall makes best. Hope that helps 

Edit: for a less pain in the ass alternative maybe try a set of 205/40/16 Falken 512's  ???

they are way easier to get and have a nice sidewall... 5mm extra tread pattern on each side of the tire istn gonna hurt nuthin.

those were special 1 off porshce 928 wheels cut to resemble P-slots

yay for being able to drop my coilovers down 8)  4+ " inch drop is gonna be pretty damn hot! (rolling 3.25" drop now)

Rather than trying to locate the elusive low profile 195width 16" tires in the US, it's going to be much easier to just get 205/40s... readily available, and will at least appear more stretched than 195/50s

yea thats what im doing.  i found out discount tire direct has a good selection of 205/40/16s i dont know about.   pretty reasonably priced too.  most around 70 bucks.  thatll allow me to get another inch of drop at least i hope.

205/40/16 is a bit more than an inch shorter in diameter than stock, so your body will actually end up half an inch lower while increasing wheel gap half an inch too.
