heh, Jay-Z and Nas have been going at it for a long time...
I really don't know what started it though, it's before my time. But after listening to Ether...Nas really doesn't like Jay-Z it seems.
But going head-to-head in a publicized battle is a great way to generate fast sales for both parties

The beef has since been squashed. Money talks and now Nas is on Def Jam and works for JAyz. Jayz is not what he used to be and Nas doesnt make music geared for the masses so his sales will struggle. Im still looking foward to the Nas cd though

Am i the only one who really doesnt like Jay-Z's music? His rhymes have zero rhythm and dont go with the beat of the song... Its like he just picks words that rhyme, regardless of their syllable count.
I remember first hearing "its a hard knock life" and I liked it because it had a catchy chorus, but ever since then his songs have been like nails on a blackboard to me
Or am I missing something?

Jay-Z will win, by far.
For those of you who don't think Jay-Z is gifted, do your research. Nas is gifted too, but damnit, Jay-Z's been doing the damn thang.

No, I think you're pretty right. I'm a fan of very few Jay-Z songs..

Nas since day one. JayZ is in the far background for me. Nas is probably the best lyricist, in my eyes and ears at least.

People change, even Nas kinda fell off, Hi sstillmatic album was mediocre at best. I didn't even think about buying his latest. Jayz was good until early 2k then he fell off as well. People change with the times and even more so the style. I kinda think if Big was still alive they probably have him doing a song with T-Pain........ But Still
Nas >Jay-Z
Big > Pac
Kanye >50
T.I. > Flip

NAS is making a more radio friendly record in addition to the one thats coming out in a couple months. The on dropping alongside JayZ'z is a 'best of' with a few new tracks
Oh yeah, 2PAC > BIG/JayZ/NAS...It's not even close. The other 3 can jus battle for 2nd place.

i like nas better then j when it comes to lyrics and style. Hes more of a poet and a story teller if you listin to his songs compared to j.
but if you want somthing a lil more party like, jay-z wins.
I also have a feeling jay-z will win cause of the mainstream style he has in his song compared to nas's deep music.

Hopefully these modern rap battles don't end up with a murder campaign with the sheep-like gang members. (Like we had with Pac and Biggy)

Nasir is by far the poet Jay however is more mainstream mos def and like mentioned there cool with each other hell they've got a song together on Nas's Hip Hop is Dead... to be honest I'll probably buy both since I dig both and have all of there stuff. As far as sales it'll be Jay fosho most still aren't ready for Nas even after all this time...its all a stunt to sell some records which you can't blame em...

Krs-One isn't number one.
Woops, sorry, I lied, he's number 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5!
haha, you just don't get that kind of awesome any more.
