Indo motors
This past July I spent a month in Jakarta Indonesia with one of my best friends, and since my friend and I both love cars too damn much, we spent a lot of time at a local body shop called JR . JR is probably one of the best shops for body work in the area, and you can pretty much get anything custom done here as you will see from the photos, from M3 conversions on a BMW, turning a WRX into something I cry seeing, and even taking an old Porsche and making it look like a newer one. Labor is cheap there (good pay there is about 60-100$ US a month), so getting something done like a custom Wide body kit on a skyline (like my friend has done to his) only costs about 1800$ US for everything.
As far as POV's, you mostly see Toyota kuangs, civics and Jazz's or the Nissan version of that (yaris?), but even though most people don't have much, if you have money you can buy anything you want in Indonesia, and for cars they are not cheap due to high importation fee's , taxes and sometimes the gray area of going about business and getting things taken care of.
with that out of the way, onto the cars
This is my friends Nissan skyline
(his old bumper)
and how it sits now. wide body, hood, front and rear bumpers and wing are all custom
sorry I didnt take any photos of the engine bay after they cleaned it, but it shows the goods
this is his Odessy station wagon (in the US the odessy is a minivan so I kept calling him a soccer mom)
and here are some other cars that JR has done

this is just a 3 series that looks like an m3

old WRC evo chassis being used for a drag car now

this Porsche is 100% custom as it was an older Porsche that was completely redone and made to look like a newer gt3. all the vents and scoops are functional
this subaru, I really don't know what to say... to each his own.
this is the brand new S class my friends dad had delivered to their doorstep. I dunno what the S class retails in the US, but it costs about double to get over in Indonesia.

they let me pop the S class cherry :)

I got to ride in it on the way to my friends wedding, and damn, that was a nice ride and made the traffic a lot more enjoyable (for those that are/have been over to Indo, you know what the traffic is like)
everyone loves a skyline

and if you didn't like the yellow color no worries its this color now
this jeep cracked me up. some old lawyer pulled into the body shop lot with this and gave me a ride around town in this

widebody NSX anyone?

his Royce and an older one were parked at the hotel the day after the wedding. We were told they were there for the Chinese singer, Jackie Cheung, who was in town singing and had the presidential top floor sweet.
another fake M3, or maybe it was real I couldn't tell half the time
I wish we had these in the states
you can buy herrro kitty anything there

I saw an evo on the road every so often, but very few subarus, in fact I only saw 1, and I know of 2 other people who own them in indo, but like most owners of modified cars they rarely ever drive them cause the roads are bad, and the only time you can go fast in them is late at night or on the weekend if your lucky enough to find a road w/out traffic/few pot holes. the roads don't seem to have any sort of planing as to how they were built either, as it seems like they gave a couple of 3 year olds a map of the city and told them to color how they would plan the roads in the city, then gave everyone a moped , and when they ran out of mopeds threw in a ton of buses that stop where ever they want and a shit ton of baji's (3 wheel mopeds that only God knows if you will live if you ride in one), but don't get me wrong, I still love indo and can't wait to go back!
this is about mid process in custom making the bumpers. What they first do is take a clay model of the stock one, and usually make another clay one of the new custom one out of that, then go on to make the fiber glass bumper, make sure everything fits right and eventually sand everything out making it better than new
