'02 VW GTi MK4

So I used to own a '02 VW GTi 337 Edition.

I did some extensive work on it and Did most of every thing myself Minus the LSD install.
All body work, interior work and engine work and fab was done by me.

Then I wrecked the car......

Yah I was plannin as getting a GS before I wrecked the GTi and while I was in the hospital a Friend of mine bought the GS and decided to sell it once I actually could drive again. So it worked out perfectly.

I have a few plans for the GS I may get bumpers for it but I dono yet.
First in order is make it lower tho.

What do you want to do to the TDI version? Its the same car with a different engine, so everything can be done, but the engine modifications.

i figured thats all it was. i was just scouring through some tdi forums and they made it seem like it was a totally different setup altogether.

Its a different engine set-up. That is the only difference. All mk4's are the same.

with the mk3's the 2.0 8v had a much higher sitting oilpan than the VR6's... the mk4's used pretty much the same 2.0 8v and 12v vr6 (not talking about the 24v vr6's) but im not sure if the oilpan clearance was the same or not.... but the tdi shouldnt be THAT much different than either/or. a lotta guys run skidplates (BPTD brand for example) but its not entirely nessecary. then again i broke 6 oilpans over 2yrs with my VR6, and none when i had my 2.0 before that.

shrug.

The TDI does hang lower, but to drive a car as low as Drew or I did, niether of us with a skid plate it just takes balls. My oilpan looks like it had gone through a war, but never broke.

Well the mk3 vr hangs a lot lower than a mk4 4 cylinder oil pan. I would have just drug a skid plate if I had a mk3 VR. All the mk4 4 cyl oil pans are actually pretty generous. Your subframe should sit just below it and take most of the beatings for ya.

Thats one of the cleanest MkIV's I've ever seen. Even better is that it is a 337. It sucks to here what happened to it.

Good luck with the new GS!
