RIM RASH REPAIR..

Perhaps I missed the thread for this, but I need to repair/replace the lips on my wheels and I don't know how much time or cost to do so. I have multi-piece 19' Auto Coutures. Is it possible to take my car to a shop and have it done the same day, cause it's my only ride, well aside from a Mt. bike. I live in No. County of San Diego. Any and all info appreciated......Thanx

File the rash down...

500 wet...

800 wet...

1500 wet...

(If you want, 2000 wet)

Then use a metal buffing compound then a polish compound...you may wanna invest in a metal polishing kit...eastwood has one for ~$100...works great...

This is if ur wheels are not clear coated...if they are and u do decide to polish them, you'll see a burn line...

Nope, won't work on chrome rims...chrome rims are usually cast and the face coated with chrome

well it's a case by case issue...if your rims are curbed then no need buy new lips...if they are curbed/dented and you're a perfectionist, then buy new ones...

even if they are curbed/dented, file them down way past the area where the damage is...basically feather it out so that the damage isn't that noticable...

Ok cool so you can buy just the other lip rather then buying a whole barrel. If you find someone who can get them for you down the line sometime, let me know.

If youre in SD, theres a shop in east county called romeros custom polishing. If your wheels are clear coated you will see the difference between the polished surface and the clear coated surface. Might bother some, others maybe not so much. They did work on a buddies vienna kreis. Thing is though, youll have to take the tire off the wheel as they dont do it there.

BTW, whats the big deal with throwing some stocks on for a couple days?

I dont think they work with chrome wheels. If anything youd have to rechrome it after they did work on it id assume.
